In november we adopted a rescue dog. He was surrendered due to allergies but the place we got him thought the family just didn't want him anymore. Nope, my dog can do it. If it is hard plastic, she chews it to pieces. You might want to try a supplement of Omega 3 or Prozyme, which might help. Besides, like I always say, dog hair is a condiment. :-) There is an off chance it could be thyroid. Next time she has blood work done, ask your Vet to check it.

Little pups get really LONELY at times. I always gave mine a medium size stuffed animal to cuddle up with and it worked like a charm and the howling stopped. a rubber ball (big enough not to get caught in his mouth), a large rawhide, a stuffed animal he can chew up, a rope-toy, and maybe an old sneaker with laces and eyelets removed. Get 2 small stainless steel buckets (NOT made of anything else!) with handles, and 2 metal hooks, so you can fasten them to the inside of his kennel (he cant chew them or spill them) for food and water. Kudos to you and the family for rescuing this dog! First, can I ask how many in your family and are their children and their ages? Any idea as to the age of the dog? First off, it can be a difficult situation if you don't know the history on the dog. Was the Shelter able to supply any information? Was he picked up or relinquished? The Shelter itself can be a traumatic experience for an animal then he is introduced to your family, yet another new environment, etc.

When I was pregnant with my son, our dog was very very protective over my belly, when I was in labor she would keep the second dog away from me cause he huge and doesnt know his size, and is clumsy. The best thing you could do is find a dark quiet space. Away form people, maybe bring your dog /cat, or a stuffed animal to keep you comany. Bring water and a blanket. Make yourself comfy , take 5 deep slow breaths in and out, believe in yourself things will be okay. Close your eyes. Make that feeling go away in your mind. Think of happy thoughts only to take your mind off of whats currently happening to your body. Dont forget dont dehydrate yourself in this process.

I'm raising three right now. I have probably raised 3 dozen over the years. If you have a fuzzy stuffed animal to put with it, that might help. They really do need something like that to help them feel secure. I have only raised one that ever cried very much, but she eventually got over it and is a very loving cat now.
