He prescribed a urea nail stick to aid with the fungus like matter under the fingernail. I keep it trimmed back to allow for new nail growth, but it gets to a certain point and develops this gross looking end to it. Any idea why it's taking so long for the nail to regenerate, or is this an indication of a possible underlying cause?
They look whitish and when I scrape them off with a paper towel or my fingernail it is not red or bleeding underneath. It feels like skin when I scrape it out and touch it with my fingers. I have an 8 yr old daughter who has two fingernails, one on each hand, that are not smooth, they are slightly bumby and the nail that grows out at the end is not uniform, curvy. They do not have complete horizontal ridges across them. Sort of like moguls on a ski slope. They are not discolored and it only occurs in those two fingernails.
She has had this for close to a year. She's rarely sick and if it was nail fungus I would think it would have spread to her other nails.

just leave it alone - it will grow back just like it did before (I've had this happen to me more than once) Any serious crunching to the nail on your finger will cause this to happen - the bruising underneath the nail is what causes it to fall off, and the bump in the middle of where the nail used to be is actually the new fingernail growing back.
Today was a pretty hot day, and i was working up on a roof, getting a bit sweaty, so im not sure if that contributed to it being easier to notice ( perhaps if its a fungus of some sort the heat and sweat would help it grow / present more?

Do nothing would be my advice. He will grow out of it-although probably not for a few years! Hi I just want to know what can cause some or all of these combined symptoms, Hair thinning, lost of appetite, a few dark toenails but not all of them, 1 fingernail half light pink half light brown with vertical lines no ridges, wart on ball of both feet and lately some lost of taste (I'm thinking due to thin white film on tongue) I was a Severe smoker until recently when I stopped.

Doctors usually use 5 cm as the starting point for recommending surgery and do not think about it when they are smaller, so finding it earlier when it was smaller does not do much but lead to a lot of annoying follow up exams to re-check it.

So about 2 weeks ago (after putting a cuticle out) the base of my fingernail got infected its red and swollen doesnt hurt much but when i touch it, then about a week ago i began to have these little white bumps on my finger tips they very in size but none bigger than 1/16in, they have now sped to some of my palm, they have no liquid in them they are only white and they open easly when scrached but they do not itch or hurt, my guess is i touched something im aleric to but i have never really been
After 12 years and crying and crying I know what is the problem, but I am working in this. Come on, just do it. We need found why this grow up, and other tools to eliminate this fungus more quickly.

Sorry for my english. Ok, I have been feeling an increase in symptoms. Why ? Do you listen Herxheimer reaction. That is the situation now, because i am attacking the fungus. I think We almost have a some kind of Fungus Candida.
