Will fingernail fungus grow out

Common Questions and Answers about Will fingernail fungus grow out

Avatar n tn It can take nine to 12 months to see if it has worked or not, because that is how long it takes for the nail to grow out. Even when therapy works the fungus may come back about 20%-50% of the time. ref:http://www.medicinenet.com/fungal_nails/page3.
Avatar n tn Fungus is unlikely, because for unknown reasons fungus affects only one hand at a time, in most cases. Eczema, psoriasis, and skin problems associated with arthritic conditions are all on the possible list. Diagnosis depends on appearance and the presence or absence of other symptoms in the skin or elsewhere. I recommend setting up an appointment for a second opinion and inquiring about a cancellation list to get seen sooner.
Avatar n tn how can I cure fungi in my fingernails? This is how it all started. Several years ago, I massaged my brothers foot with my bare hands without any gloves or cream. Several weeks or months later I don't recall exactly, I notice that my skin was cracking, my fingernails had white stuff inside and I said what is going on. Well, years past by and every 3 to 6 months my skin close my fingernail opens up and it hurts like crazy and I can't do anything when that happens.
Avatar n tn I am obese, and was told that it stays moist and allows the fungus to grow. Over the past year, it has gotten very severe. I have seen several doctors about it, and have been put on 2 different antibiotics three times. Of late, I am using a lotrisone cream with steriods in it, and at first it was helping, but now seems to be not helping. The rash has become so severe, that it burns all the time. It interfers with walking, or working out, and has a very foul odor to it.
Avatar f tn I will definately keep my eye on it though, hopefully it will just grow out and be ok!! You can definately develope moles under nails though, it is the same as any other area of skin i suppose, you can even have flesh coloured ones apparently so you would never know, although I guess that is probably rare!! and not your fault for the goosebumps...my fault for being a wimp when it comes to nails!!
529981 tn?1212853666 My hair has also started to fall out and at the end of my hair, a white little grain is at the end. Hair will not stop falling out. I have gotten blood tests at a dermatology office and everything was normal. I also have tried about very type of zinc pyrithione shampoo, at the highest concentrations. Also I have tried, salycylic shampoos, tar shampoos, jojoba oil, AND nothing seems to help. Please help me and my hair.
Avatar f tn It began about eight months ago and has gotten progressively worse. I also have a fingernail and toenail fungus. I am afraid that the fungus has moved to my skin. I went to the dermatologist for the first time yesterday and she merely gave me a prescription lotion for extremely dry skin. This actually made the stickyness worse. I applied it to my hands and it just sat on top of this film and became even more sticky.
Avatar f tn So where to begin? OK.. I have been steadily losing my lunulas(fingernail moons) for a couple years. My left thumbnail lunula is almost gone. Only leaving my right thumb lunula left. The red bands at the tip of my fingernails are getting wider. They look similar to Terry's Nails but the nail beds are not white, they are pale. I've also been developing splinter hemmhorages at the tips in the red bands. I've heard red bands are due to low B12. My B12 is high.

Avatar m tn Hope that helps a little. I know it's hard not to freak out when there are unsolved mysteries with our health. When will you get to the doc again?
Avatar f tn it will not heal until that white thing comes out and all the skin around it basically turns into an open wound if I wash my face the scab will sloth off and if I continue to squeeze the bump blood will come out from around the white plug but the plug will never loosen or come out. On occasion I have removed a few "plugs" but they have left deep "ice pick" scars on my nose.
Avatar n tn I think that this was possibly a fungus. Im almost tempted not to go to the doctor now but am not sure. I will closely watch it for the next day or two and continuously apply the tea tree oil. If the patch rears it ugly head again i will definitely go to the doctor! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated though...
Avatar m tn some of these you can see hanging out of a pore and most of the time these will not even come out when grabbed with a tweezers...If you do manage to get one-you will see it moving from a tiny white worm that curls up into a cresent shape and eventualy tiny ball(dot) that slowly crawls along...then back into a pore etc...please let me know if you do have this or have any info on this mysterious new bug!!!
Avatar n tn This morning I was brushing my sons hair and I found an adult flying out of it. There is NO chance that it was just passing by I brushed it out. No one will believe my sister and she has cut her hair VERY short. Tried mayonaise, bleach, hair color, vasoline, vinegar, almost everything she can think of. I am so pleased to see that she is not the only one who has this she feels as if she is. She now has big bald spots on her head. We have been searching for help.
Avatar f tn Just wondering is this a sweat fungal problem. I know when I go to the gym and work out, I have a shower in the morning. Perhaps I will make it a habit to shower after and be sure to dry well and wear a clean bra. I think sweat may play a role. I have it along bra line and pant line.
Avatar n tn After several hours the pain comes back, and I am guessing the fungus is growing back. My question is, will I have to do this for the rest of my life, or will the fungus (or whatever is kept in check by the Tolnaftate) eventually die off?
1548538 tn?1293875433 They come out to mate, usually at night, but anytime there is a lack of UV light they will come out. That's why you itch more at night. You need to change pillow cases and towels daily. Don't rewear clothes either. Use borax in your laundry. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I was so worried and tried to check other sources on line but came up with no information. To everyone who thinks it will help to air it out, From the time I get out the shower until Im ready to to get dressed to leave Im naked which is normally more than an hour sometimes up to 2 hours, every day! I do my hair and make up while Im naked and put clothes on right before I have to leave, This does not help! Doesn't help me any how! This is so unfortunate.
Avatar m tn Here is the problem though, from the biopsy, he cut up my nose, and now that area he cut out will not heal either. So he took a small area that wouldn’t heal, and made it much larger. As disgusting as this sounds, it forms a scab and oddly resembles a craisin in size and color. It is like a blood clot and the scab gets so large it blocks my airway, but now it is so far back from the surgery that I cant even see the sore in the mirror.
288415 tn?1231634102 Itchy ears are actually very common. They tend to be worse in people who make very little wax as wax typically lubricates and moistens the ear canal. There are several things that can be tried. If the eardrums are intact, a drop or two of baby oil (mineral oil) every few days can help quite a bit. Over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone cream (apply to outer ear canal with the little finger) can be very helpful. There are other prescription treatments (Dermotic oil) that can help also.
Avatar f tn for several years and have given up with trying to figure out what is wrong. This is a new one and I will keep checking back for anyone that finds an answer. Praying for all of you that we figure this thing out! God bless!
Avatar n tn Just thought that I would pass the info on. Maybe it will help one of you out.
Avatar n tn I have had the SAME problem on and off for years now. It started about 7-10 years ago and some times I will go years with out an outbreak of any kind. I cannot pin point it to ONE thing but think the cause is partly environmental and partly dietary. It seems when the two collide I have an outbreak. For instance, when I first starting having this problem I used to always seem to have symptoms but not always a full outbreak after I ate hot pepper rings.
472570 tn?1274689487 They usually don't move so you think they're just specks of dirt except if you disturb them, they will actually hop. You can see them on your white sheets. Disturb them with your fingernail and watch them hop. Lastly, I know it's difficult to sleep and you feel like you're losing your mind and you may even have thoughts of suicide, please know that there is an end to this and by all means be very careful about taking any prescription sleepaids. Addictive!!!!
Avatar n tn S again Drink as much water as possible. It will thin out the mucus. If you find something that works tell others you know to have the same sypmtoms. Also tell the doctor so he can tell his other patients.
Avatar n tn I do shave and this is the worst! I found that when the hairs start to grow back, the wiskers will drive you nuts. So now we have the itching, irritation from scratching and cuts, the regrowing of hairs and swelling from the rubbing and a husband who can't get his way. HHHEEELLLPP!
Avatar n tn Wear light cotton gloves when doing light work with hands at home/work (am doing so now as typing can affect the finger ends), and wear heavy gloves over them when needing to do hard work (gardening, lifting furniture, etc). Do not wear the cotton gloves for too long as they will after 20-30 mins start to dry out the skin. Use a Urea based ‘repair’ cream 4-6 times daily when the condition flares, and 2 times a day when it has abated (after a shower/bath is best absorption time).
Avatar f tn It really ***** because I live in a really small town I mean really there is one school and there are probably baearley 500 kinds in our whole school. My class alone has 19 kids. I am so worried that someone it my class or town will find out. Like on science or Biology they will cringe their nose about it and I will just sink in my seat because I can't say gross because I have it!! I am just so afraid if I tell anyone they will not like me anymore.!
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor to do a skin biopsy...I did one last thursday and I will find out the results in 2 weeks...hopefully. My GYN seems to think that nothing stumps her so hopefully we will solve this mysterious skin disorder. I was also thinking that we all have something in common. I take Kariva birth control. I did use KY Silky at one point in time. I have a cyst on my labia.
