Avatar m tn in the container that deposits the ingredient in the esophagus and not the lungs, so it apparently may not be able to be used in place of the flovent. Perhaps a compounding pharmacy might be able to supply the ingredient in a proper delivery system that might work for you. Have you also been trying a change in diet? The leading theory about the cause of EE is it represents allergy to some protein found in food.
Avatar m tn Went to Mayo Clinic after years of swollowing issues and being misdiagnosed with acid reflux. Mayo prescribed flovent but when I got to my local allergist with the EE results he said a lot of people use flonase and he prescribed it to me. two squirts a day by mouth in the morning... Avatar f tn Xopenex is a rescue inhaler, that means you have to use this when he has an episode of Asthma. Flovent is a steroid inhaler. This are preventive inhalers. The type of drug commonly used in preventer inhalers is a steroid. Steroids work by reducing the inflammation in the airways. When the inflammation has gone, the airways are much less likely to become narrow and cause symptoms such as wheezing. Steroid inhalers are usually taken twice per day.
Avatar f tn Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.

Avatar f tn Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Does anyone have anything similar to this? I have not been advised supplemental oxygen as of yet.
Avatar m tn ve gone from burning feet every night to having pain only when I walk a lot .I thought it was mostly the Flovent but I also frequently take only one puff of Spiriva and seem to have more burning when I take two (puffs on one dose). I have many other SE from all the meds, muscle rigidity in my neck, etc. I've also developed a tendency to have bronchospasms, my pulmo dropped the dose of Flovent in response to that and it helped. Can you have mild Churg Strauss? He didn't do any bloodwork.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (every 4-6 hrs) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?
Avatar n tn Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to treat many of the same issues as Flovent, but it can also be used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Albuterol comes in a syrup, tablet, or as a suspension in an inhaler. Albuterol works by causing the passages to the lung to relax and open, which makes breathing easier.

Avatar n tn A doctor MAY have prescribed you to take the ventolin before you take the flovent to ensure the flovent reached deep into the lungs but give them a call and double check. In that case - ventolin first to open the lungs and then flovent to reduce inflammation.
Avatar n tn They are standard treatment for COPD and perfectly safe for that disease. The problem comes in when they are used long term for asthma, and them mainly when no inhaled steroid is used. The only people who have had a problem with these meds are asthmatics. It is not clear exactly what the problem is, but some believe that it is inappropriate use of the medication - ie using it as a rescue inhaler. The medications you are on are apropriate for COPD.
746512 tn?1388807580 s are accurate after that.. and usually rads is asthma.. You can buy Flovent inhalers in generic form which is part of the advair which is all you need. much cheaper.. also just get refills dont buy the cannister each time. Advair takes about 2 weeks to work.. the anti-inflammatory action that is.. and also flovent.. it is not an as needed drug and should be continued . I have heard of docs ordering it for a few weeks and then telling their pts. to stop.. no such do..

Avatar m tn I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision. Regarding my symptoms, I am waiting to see my cardiologist on Thursday so he can tell me how my 30 day event monitor went.
Avatar f tn Prednesone will knock it out very quickly, but that is an evil drug which should only be used as a last resort. The albuterol will mess with your BP though. Flovent takes about 2 weeks to reach full affectiveness. So you may want to be patient with that and see how you feel in another week. You might try taking some guiafenesen (plain Mucinex). If there is any lingering congestion in your chest, that will help to clear it out. Also, drink lots of water.
Avatar m tn ve noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?

Avatar f tn I took a clearblue digital test on the beginning of my second week of possible conception and it was negative. Tomorrow will be the beginning of my fourth week. When can I take a test again and it be a reliable answer. I ahve been told that decent levels of the HCG hormone dont show up until about 3 weeks. I am so tired of waiting, I need to know if I am so I can breathe. I also need to know if i am not so I dont have to worry about what medicines to take and what not to lift and etc.

Avatar f tn rays to be able to see how serious it is and diagnose the proper amount of Flovent You will know when your Gizmo is having an attack when she acts like she is going to throw up a hairball, but doesn't. Her head will be stretched out low to the ground and it really will almost sound like she is coughing. Don't worry lots of cats have asthma as you will see with the info Opus has given you. So Gizmo , with the proper meds will be ok.
