Avatar n tn My doctor gave me prescriptions for Zymar (0.3%), to be used 4X daily for 3 days AND Xibrom (0.09%), 2 X daily for 3 days prior to surgery. After looking on the RXlist medication information site, it says that Xibrom should be used only 24 hours prior to cataract surgery. Any longer could cause corneal adverse events......what kind of events? I'm really nervous about surgery and am beginning to question if I want to go through with it at this time.....What are preferred anesthesias?
Avatar n tn thank you. That is what I needed to hear.
Avatar n tn I went to an eye doctor yesterday and she gave me Zymar and Acular to treat it and told me not to rub my eyes or try to clean them out when it starts. How can you work and function when it's doing this??? Just wondering if anyone else has this and what it's called.
Avatar m tn Megabrom when applied gives prickling/slight burning sensation is it normal? Can Megabrom dose be reduced to 2 weeks. Wondering combination of steroidal and non-steroidal drops. Patient has dry eyes/prickling issues since last 5 years - can we use Gentel gel drops (Hypromellose) on both left (cataract operated eye( and right eyes without impacting other drops Zymar,Pred forte, Megabrom? 4 times a day for cataract drops we follow - 10am, 2pm(14.00), 6pm(18.00), 10pm(22.00) - is this fine?
Avatar f tn Bandage lens placed on eye with one week follow up to remove lens. Used Zymar drops 1 x day while bandage on. Told 4-6 wk. heal time. I am at the 4 wk. mark. I have scratchy, gritty, irritated, burning eyes. Called opthamologist several times w/same response of give it time. Using eye drops several times and hour still and pm ointment. GP is ruling out Sjogrens syndrome with bloodwork.
Avatar m tn I saw another doctor who prescribed to me PRE FORTE 10 ML drops and also ZYMAN drops 10 ML to be used few minutes later one drop 4 time a day. Also he prescribed antibiotics pills DOXYCYCL HVC 100 MG ,1 PILL A DAY.
Avatar n tn Or, could the problem be something else? My next visit to doctor is two weeks from today......Is this an immediate concern or can it wait? Because of synechiae, my pupil was stretched......doctor said I had more inflammation than normal and to use Pred Forte every two hours, in addition to Xibrom and Zymar. Could increased inflammation cause the decrease in contrast? Thanks for any information you may offer.....
Avatar n tn I have a question. Are drugs in the benzo family ever used to treat seizures? As in Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Restoril, etc? I have simple partial seizures and was on xanax on an "as needed" basis to control some nervousness about going back to college. I was on it for about 2 months. I started realizing I got less of my sensory and motor seizures which have always been uncontrollable since I started getting them back in 2000.
Avatar m tn Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. I will call her tonight to let her know. I had even offered to call the opthamologist on her behalf (I'm a retired teacher) but she begged me not to do so. In the meantime she has the appointment with the pulmonologist this Monday (7/26/10).

Avatar n tn Well, you should NEVER stop medication on your own without notifying your doctor. Do you have a mood disorder or bipolar? That is really important to treat. Talk to your doctor. Seroquel works well instead of Abilify as you know (why did you change?) but there are others in the same class of drugs as well that are good medications. There are several to choose from. Seroquel is one and if it worked before, no reason to change. But that is between you and your doctor.
Avatar m tn SEROQUEL is approved to treat the depressive episodes and the acute manic episodes in bipolar disorder and to treat schizophrenia. SEROQUEL XR is a once daily tablet approved only to treat schizophrenia Antidepressants have increased the risk of suicidal thoughts and actions in some children, teenagers, and young adults.
Avatar n tn Is this helpful with severe blepheritis. I am starting it and trying to be hopeful. I was on zymar and then zylet which I could not tolerate then on oral tetracycline that made it worse. I went to a new eye doc who put me on azasite for 14 days. I am very sensitive which he knows but says it is very tolerable and effective by most. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Sure, you can subsititute another antibiotic (if you can tolerate these drops) such as Tobramycin or Polytrim. For about one patient a week, I have to substitute Tobramycin for my usual floroquinolone Zymar, because the patient has a allergic history. Talk to your surgeon. There should be no problem making the switch here if needed.
