Common Questions and Answers about What is zonegran used for

zonegran

Avatar n tn As you can see alcohol use is not recommended for use with Zonegran in particular. but is usually not recommended for use with most medications. That is because it can increase or decrease the effectiveness of the medication or cause unwanted side effects. Personally, although I haven't found any literature that indicates that seizures will occur if you use it with Zonegran and Lamictal, I would avoid it completely or minimize its' usage.
Avatar f tn Zonegran is awesome! It really has worked great for my daugther with little to no side effects. Initially, there was some problems with being a little sleepy during the morning, but that wore off. It also did cause some appetite suppression in the morning, but that wore off too. I hope you find the right dosage and it works well for you too. Were you able to lose the weight you gained off of the Trileptal?
Avatar f tn I typically experience low blood pressure on average of 105/65 but took the BP a little while ago and it was 112/78 so not sure if this medication is increasing it or this horrible migraine can raise your BP. For me 112/78 is high so if the way I am feeling is a result of that I sympathize so much with people who have high BP now that take meds to lower it. Any information or experiences from fellow members would be great.
Avatar f tn A friend said she took Zonegran for nerve pain and it helped her tremendously. My c ondition now is post herpetic neuraglia left over from shingles in the top of my head, forehead, eyebrow and left eye. have anyone tried Zonegran for post herpetic nueraglia (PHN) and did it help. The Lyrica is now affecting my eyes so I am desperate to get off it. Any answers/experiences are much appreciated. Thanks much.
1303966 tn?1296740010 Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.

Avatar n tn Seizures are very complex and what works for one may not for another. What I have found is that all of the cases are so different, each child may have the same "type" of seizure but won't respond to the same med. They have never found a cause for his seizures. We even took him to John Hopkins a couple of times in hope of them finding some reason. I'm sorry for what you and your little one is going through...
Avatar f tn t think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful. I work for a health insurance company and I am on the computer for 8 hours a day. I have been unalbe to work a full time scheule for the past 3 months due to my migraines.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
1303966 tn?1296740010 Hi, yes..this is not uncommon for those with chiari...it can be just the chiari...or u may have related issues..such as a thyroid condition, or a condition called POTS...... Do talk to ur Chiari Dr about this.
1636315 tn?1301198225 I was wondering what medications people have experienced any relief from. I know everyone's body is different and what works for some might not work for others. Before I was diagnosed with Chiari, I was treated for Fibro. Doctors had me try Lyrica, Savella (started at a low dose and worked up to a high dose), Gabapentin and Roboxin. I've also tried Tramadol and Topamax in the past and with any of these medications I have found barely any or no relief at all.

Avatar f tn The prescription medicines like triptans, rizatriptan and zolmitriptan come in various forms like nasal sprays, injections and tablets that dissolve on the tongue and can be used for you since nausea and vomiting is an issue. Prophylactic medicines like propranolol, pizotifen and valproate can be tried. It is important to know that any painkiller for headaches or migraines too often or too long can make the headache worse. Life style and dietary advice are important. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn My head is still EXTREMELY sensitive where my severe concussion was in 2006 and my head is slightly recessed there. Is it possible i could have just hit that spot while i was sleeping and it caused the seizure?
Avatar m tn Because you are playing "what if". We could be here for hours comeing up with "what if". If a condom is reused it is not easy to get on, it would be a struggle.
695000 tn?1316136048 I agree with something like gabapentin helping. Right now I am taking Zonegran which is the best so far for me, it has really knocked the pain out, and stabilized my moods. Acupuncture has also done wonders for me in helping with this skin pain and provides almost immediate relief after the treatment.
