Avatar n tn My 6 year old grandaughter often has to take Xopenex HFA for asthma related issues. It makes her extremely irritable, she has a bad temper and in general is very mooddy? Is this a side affect?
1763947 tn?1334055319 When I went to refill my inhalers the pharmacist said I was taking two inhalers that have steroids in them and that most all people take only 1 of those. I am taking Symbacort,, Asmanex twisthaler and xopenex HFA as a rescue. I am moving soon to FL and have only been in Texas for 10 months. I will see a pulmanary doc when I get to FL but meanwhile has anyone been told this about steroids and or have any suggestions? I see my PCP tomorrow hopefully for the last time before I leave.
Avatar f tn I am going to ask for a sample of Xopenex to try for odor exposures again.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a 6 year old son with autism and asthma who has currently started on the Xopenex for the asthma control. He has become extremely hyperactive and somewhat aggressive with the Xopenex, and I am wondering if there are any other meds that wouldn't have this side effect.
242143 tn?1215470308 so it might be too much for what you need. but it really helped and he assured me it was safe for baby, I still used it less then the directions. Just because Im one that hates to take meds. of course at night was the worst for me. and I also got steriolds for 7 days. did good too... I fill so bad for you because I had it for a long time!!! Just make sure you go ahead and go.. It does get worse, the sooner you can get it in control the better. There are soooo many diffrent colds out there...
Avatar n tn Oximetry with a saturation of 86 to 87% is on the borderline of indications for the continuous oxygen. You will need further information, for example what are your saturations while asleep, before making any decisions concerning the use of oxygen. You are correct in wanting to wait until you have achieved optimum benefit from the Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol, before any consideration of oxygen use.
Avatar n tn Hi, fast heart rate is due to Xopenex. Initially, use of this drug is associated with this side effect but over a period of time, tolerance usually develops. In case if you have a pre exisiting heart disease, please avoid this drug. Consult you treating doctor to lower the dose or frequency, other alternative is sustained release deriphylline tablets.
Avatar m tn For Prevention Steroid inhalers are used regularly for prevention of attacks. The steroid content is very low in an inhaler and only acts locally. Use will prevent the causative allergens from triggering an attack. Repeated cold with nasal blockage can trigger attacks. Keep the nostrils clear of blockages by using nasal drops. For the steam inhalation you can use eucalyptus oil or you can use just the steam also. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I been smoking for 11 years now. The er at the time prescribed me ventolin hfa. I went to my regular dr a week later and they ordered me a pulmonary function test. I got the results and it says that there is nothing wrong with my lungs. But i still continue to get the cough off and on every 3-4 months. Every time i use my inhaler, my chest gets aggravated and congested and it makes me cough more...as of 2013, im 28 weeks pregnant and im still smokin cigarettes.
Avatar n tn The “near fatal reaction” may have had a component of airway inflammation, that served to “tip-off” your asthma, much as can happen with a severe respiratory infection, such as bronchitis, resulting in what is called bronchial hyperreactivity, a feature of asthma. What you have experienced may or may not be asthma in the conventional sense but be more akin to a condition called reactive airways dysfunction syndrome (RADS). This latter may take weeks, months or longer to eventually subside.
212161 tn?1599427282 now the cold/cough part is mostly gone yes i still have a cough now and than and my nose runs at times than stops up, is the asthma ... plus i feel like under water for sec than it goes away is that asthma, it goes away without me taking aything to make it go away ,i have two inhalers and have only used twice yes it helped with one puff than i not use again for days, does asthma do you like that .
Avatar m tn It is to the point where each day is a struggle and throughout the day I gasp for a satisfying breath, which often doesn't come. I don't have asthma attacks, as I understand them to occur. I don't wheeze. I do cough a lot. I have sinus blockage. I take antihistamines (phenergan). I am thinking of trying salbutamol and wondering whether anyone has any information, experiences or thoughts to share. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
920032 tn?1550680156 my question is the more i am able to exhert myself the pleasure is taken away by the amount of phlegm i am producing. is this because air is reaching pockets its never reached for a while and dormant phlegm is there. or am i making the phlegm by overexerting myself.
Avatar n tn During the attack, asthalin inhalers are used. Asthalin is used only during the attack and is not used for prevention. In the meantime try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
1580703 tn?1651904887 I take Dulera/Singulair/Xopenex and Spiriva and sometimes Combivent. Is there a med like theophylline that can help me? I'm also having bad sleep apnea and am crippled by this and can't work or think because of my lung diseases. Is my sleep apnea caused by asthma or narrowed airway?
Avatar m tn And the other day it actually made my symptoms A LOT worse (I could barley breath for the whole evening and felt pressure). Is there a reason for all of this or should I just switch brands?
Avatar n tn A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma is necessary and it directs further steps for management. Also you are on various medications, some of these are known to reduce the blood potassium levels (like thiazides) and can cause weakness known as hypokalemic periodic paralysis.
7748835 tn?1393868668 They dropped to 92 for once second once then back up to 98. My normal is 96-98. And is it common to have sleep apnea along with asthma because I wake up with a very painful sore throat? If anybody has an answer to my questions please help me ASAP!
1315759 tn?1274044788 or the breathing treatments? at the hospital, they give me xopenex, which works ok, not really good for me. the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened. instead of getting better, it was staying the same and making me feel out of control. how can i get my doctor to prescribe me a pulse ox for at home?
312330 tn?1245176752 Did the singulair for a while, but was taken off of that....I have CSS which is what causes the asthma. I use xopenex as my rescue med...and right now do Qvar and Foradil for my maintenance meds right now...but obviously am not under control.
Avatar m tn Apparently you have asthma or some breathing problems already since you are taking Xopenex and Symbicort. Xopenex is similar to regular albuterol which is a fast acting inhaler for asthma (something I use). It will increase your heart rate for awhile after you use it. For me, that means about 10-15 minutes. I also get shaky, jittery hands. But it eases off. The Symbicort is used when asthma is not well controlled yet.
Avatar n tn What will happen if you don't rinse your mouth out after you use the Proventil HFA inhaler?
