Avatar n tn Have you used Valsartan for treatment of hypertension patients in high risk patients? Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
Avatar n tn I've taken Valsartan since 2010 successfully. It controls my BP well.
Avatar n tn Good Morning! I'm hoping someone here can help me a little. I was on benazapril for hbp for quite a while, developed a slight dry scratchy cough my doctor described as benazepril cough. He changed me to valsartan last week and thats where the real fun began :-( 3 days on valsartan and I was having horrible side effects of dizziness, rapid heart rate, general feeling of crappiness, even slight shortness of breath with the slightest exertion None of which I experienced with the benazepril.
Avatar m tn My blood pressure has been controlled for years with typical readings around 118/70 using the Valsartan, Amlodipine 5mg, and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide 25mg). I have not made the change yet. 1. Why should I agree to experiment with reducing my primary blood pressure medication and what are the risks? His response was "let's see what happens". 2. How long should it take before I see changes (if any) in typical blood pressure readings?
Avatar n tn my bp is allowed to be alot higher than normal because of the ANS issues and 130/90 for me is what my EP and cardiologist prefer because of my weird system - my bp can tank on a dime even if it's high grrr it's a pain for sure... I would ask your dr or the nurse at their office about what's going on; there's a reason they have you on meds and like me - it sounds like meds make your bp/hr lower; ask them what's acceptable and when you should be concerned.
459164 tn?1206363843 Hi, there is no such information which conclusively states that valsartan may cause cellulitis or increase its intensity or duration. Have you taken valsartan and also have a concurrent skin infection? If yes, have you talked to your doctor about it and taken any medication for it? Please keep us posted and let us know if you have any other queries.
514349 tn?1272801633 I received a notice in the mail regarding this hypertensive medication that I have been taking for quite some time. Apparently some batches contained N-Nitrosodimethlamine (NDEA) which is a "probable carcinogen". The letter contained no information on how long this had been going on or how high a content the tablets contained, but my medicine was included in the batch list that was sent. Of course, I received a replacement tablets from the pharmacy where I get them.
Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar n tn I fell horible and found out my TSH level is 99.9, a week ago and still not feeling good. How long does it take?
Avatar f tn Did you see the news about the statins? They are sometimes used for high blood pressure but now they think it helps not only the liver but treatment success albeit it has not been proven. That seems the safest way to treat your BP issues. How is your salt intake?
Avatar n tn I don't have EDS, but my aortic root is at the high end of normal, and I might have some mild degree of connective tissue problem (not enough of anything for a diagnosis), but the enlarging of my aorta was completely stopped by taking max dose of valsartan (similar to cozaar (ARB)). Many other people I know w/ connective tissue problems like MFS have had the same results, or aortic shrinkage. I have not yet heard of anyone taking a proper dose of ARB and continuing aortic enlargement.
Avatar n tn However, some patients complain from persisting cough for 6 months and even for longer time. A good alternative in this case is Angiotensin II receptor blockers (eg Candesartan, Telmisartan, Valsartan..).

Avatar n tn Connective tissue weakness appears to be at play in severe myopia in Marfan patients. As you may be aware, there has been enormous excitement in the Marfan community lately based on research originating at Johns Hopkins using ARBs (and in some studies, ACEi's) like losartan to reduce TGF-b signalling and thus arresting or even reversing aortic dilatation.
Avatar n tn Long family history of heart disease. Have had hypertension for years. Went on Valsartan in 2015 but had to keep stopping it due to extreme dizziness. Just started Amlopidine, which after one week is improving my blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Been taking this since 2010. Valsartin has controlled my BP but is no longer available at the moment.
Avatar m tn I could not lay down and sleep and spent most of my time in a recliner chair to sleep. I was placed on Coreg and was also on Valsartan, diuretics, a low sodium diet and low fluid intake. My Pulse rate went from 107 to currently between 70's and 80's. PRO BNP lower 1800 points and can now take a full breath and sleep in my bed without any problems. I have more energy and I am able to go on treadmill for 15 min and walk every evening without feeling out of breath.
