620048 tn?1358018235 Hi Meg, I take requip(2mg 2x/daily) & I haven't developed a gambling habit yet lol & thank God. I'm seriously broke so I guess gambling isn't an option lol. Most of the time they tell you to take it at night before bedtime for restless leg syndrome but since I have the same problem you do I was told 2x daily.
230948 tn?1235844329 Ok, I'll be quik too...... Soooooooooooo VERY GLAD to see you Sam! I don't know enough about the meds to comment, but cannot let this opportunity to tell you that I think of you! I pray this med does you right and that you feel confident in your decision to take, or not take it - k? Just take appropriate precautions if you do. So you feel comfortable that you can be cared for if something happens. That is what I just did w/the Rebif.
Avatar f tn I used Hylands restless legs and bananas. I also found that clonodine did wonders for me for RLS. You could Prob get some from a doctor if you tell them what's going on and you need it.
Avatar f tn I'm only taking 100mgs at night for RLS caused by suboxone/opiate wds. My update is it is really helping. Still haven't taken for long, but the doc. says he can increase the dose if needed. I'm reluctant about all pills these days so I'm sticking with what is working, and it is for now - alot. I can't believe no one told me about this sooner!
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the swift response. I do wonder why Requip is the only thing that helped both night RLS and the bad waking, which I am told are not panic attacks. If you have any insight into that I would be most grateful to know. The ativan is mostly used as a preventive for partial seizure, which I have not had since before surgery 5/05 for resection of the meningioma in the right sensor/motor parietal area.
Avatar n tn The only relief I get is with Requip. I have to keep it in my system. Of course I stay drowsy all the time and have occasional nausea. I have tried other drugs but none have worked. My neurologist said that they are from lesions in my spinal cord. My question is: has any one else experienced this and have they found relief from other means without the bad side effects? The jerking movements are very violent and I feel desperate at times. Please help if you can.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar n tn I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.
Avatar n tn Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor. Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.
Avatar f tn My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
372416 tn?1242665752 you've described rls perfectly...its very common for addicts to have this during their wds. it's also a medical mystery for other people who have never used or been addicted...they use requip to treat it, but its non-narcotic. rls is just torture when you only wanna sleep...i'm still waiting for mine to end. maybe tonight?
Avatar n tn sometimes Ropinirole (Requip) is also used to treat the sexual side efects of ssri
Avatar n tn You could ask your doc for Requip...it is used for restless leg syndrome. There are a few other meds that could possibly help...one of them being Neurontin. Talk to your doc about it....Other than that, I used a heating pad that wrapped around my legs for that wanting to move constantly feeling...it helped some...not alot, but some. Valium will not help for this.
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar n tn Your body definitly needs to repair itself..Our brain chemisty and all..It took some time to get to this point..Congratulations on 3 months..Thats great!! Have you tried taking a strong good multi-vitamin and potassium supps..(eat bananas)..also make sure your drinking a fair amount of water. If that doesn't help, there is a rx called Requip..it is not addicting..and it is for RLS..my husband takes it and it works really well.
230948 tn?1235844329 I know this has to be so hard on you with children! Thankfully my children were mostly grown when this hit me so, I don't know how you do it! Its a strange kind of tired too! For some reason I usually feel better 1st thing in the morning (more rested??) but then its downhill from then on. After lunch I try to lay down, I can never go to sleep & nap but just lay there & rest. I have trouble sleeping as my muscles seem to kick in worse as do the twitches.
Dog But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
Avatar f tn I think it would depend upon the type of symptoms one is having. If it is a sleep disorder (RLS/PLMD) - I have found that Trazadone works well. For neuropathy and other sensations I had relief with both Cymbalta and Lyrica. The only downside to the Lyrica was difficulty with cognition and drowsiness. Savella (milnacipran) is the new medication and it works much the same as Cymbalta...it is an antidepressant. As uk2 mentioned, the patches help with pain as well.
620048 tn?1358018235 Hi Meg. Glad to see you back, and I'm happy your cataract surgery is turning out well. Good! We always need good news. What you describe sounds like restless leg syndrome, or really restless limb syndrome, if the rest of you is moving too. If you manage to sleep through this that's wonderful, since many people can't. We've had a lot of forum discussion about this problem, so you might want to Search this Community to find some. One thing to consider is your medications.
