My question is - beyond the general risk that HSV presents - how additionally risky is this for me? It is a possibility that at some point I will have a flare-up that will require immonusuppressive therapy. If I was to contract HSV could my UC symptoms become more severe? How likely is it that I could develop the other HSV complications listed i.e., liver involvement etc...
Any light you could shed on this would be great!

This all occurred after starting a 30 day course of Canasa (Mesalamine) to which I had rash and breathing problems in what seems to have been an allergic reaction and possibly triggered the above problems.
I am now on Claritin (10mg), Lexapro (5mg) and Aciphex which together brought relief to stomach pain within hours.
Cardiologist sees no Eosinophilic infiltration or Loeffler’s.
Repeated Endoscopies show no problems. I am negative for Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis.
30 for no reason with strong chest pain, felt hot but no fever (walgreens thermometer marked highest 99 deg F for sublingual and 99.9 deg F for rectal. Each symptom lasted for about a week. I had lost appetite and lost around 10 lbs. The whole month of January was horrible. I felt depressed stressing this whole time about HIV.
I consult a gastro and go in for a colonoscopy first week of Feb. He found nodules on the sigmoid-rectal area.
The suppository should remain inserted for one to three hours or longer, if possible. The normal course of therapy is from three to six weeks depending on symptoms and sigmoidoscopic findings".
So the 30 day supply falls within the recommended duration.

I contacted pharmacies and the drug company themselves, and there is no date know for when it will be available again.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Have any tips, I'm pretty new to this. Or is anyone taking a different medication and getting good results? (Steroids did not work on this, I was on entocort for a long time for eosiniphillic esophagitis).

This is a clear criminal act. How come FDA is not allowing the safe to use Mesalazine Enema, which has been used for years in Europe and Canada? I am not certain how I can spread the word so that all UC patients who are suffering can get benefited. Please spread the word and let CCFA know that this drug needs to be made available in US. I have to buy it from UK or Canada at my own expenses. This is outrageous when I am paying so much for insurance. Please advise.

You should probably start keeping a food diary journal now.Thats how we try to find the foods that trigger our symptoms.
Told my doc, he said it was probably in my head and wrote a new script for a different form of Mesalamine (which is what Asacol is). I decided to pursue all other options before trying this medication.
