Avatar f tn At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen, hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form, just very tired and a lot of bone pain.
Avatar n tn It is possible that the white blood cell count would normalize after 2 weeks of taking Imatinib (Gleevec). Most responses to Imatinib are rapid since it targets the molecular pathogenetic event in CML. You may seek a second opinion if that will give you a peace of mind. Good luck.
Avatar n tn t go back for another month and I already feel like **** and have had pneumonia 2x in the past month. So what are some of the signs, if my blood cells drop too low. and what kind of danger am i in if that happens.
Avatar n tn Hi. Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a blood disorder caused by an acquired genetic defect in the pleripotent stem cell. It has several phases: indolent chronic or stable phase, aggressive or advanced phase, and accelerated and blastic phase. The transition between phases may take years (on the average, 4 to 6 years from the stable phase to aggressive phase).

Avatar f tn Therapy with corticosteroids is used for the treatment of most and additional therapy is available and dependent upon the type of HS. Newer medicines such as imatinib and mepolizumab are said to be promising. So, should your son have HS, there is reason to be optimistic regarding a positive response to currently available therapy. You should request, of his doctor, an additional explanation for the tentative diagnosis of pre-hypertension. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Average survival rates are generalizations, not applicable to a particular patient. The prognosis is relatively good. Newer techniques are being tried, including imatinib and stem cell transplantation. All the best, and God Bless!
Avatar f tn Homophobic OCD. Not in the sense that you would hate gay people but in the sense that you are afraid you may wake up one day and become gay. Hopefully you are getting therapy for your OCD by whoever diagnosed you. Therapy is key...just knowing doesn't do you any good because your brain is wired differently. You say up and your brain says down. You say white and your brain says black. You say not gay and your brain scream gay.

Avatar f tn Ok this may be a stupid question but can somebody tell me what good talking to a psychologist is going to do? Is it going to make my past be all rainbows and sunshine? Is it going to make all the crap going on in my life disappear? Will just talking about all this depression and past and traumatic events make me want to live? I do not understand the point of seeing a psychologist, I am going because I promised I would but I really don't think it will do any good.
Avatar f tn t have any further ideas they could refer you to a mood disorders specialist or psychopharmacologist. As well dbt therapy in addition to medication and talk therapy can be helpful for bpd. There is also a specific forum for bpd that might be helpful to post in as well.

Avatar f tn How is it that therapy is suppose to help you deal with why you used when all therapy does is make me want to use? I have been able to numb all my emotional feelings through opiates, even though my pills were used and prescribed for all my surgeries, it was my outlet, as sick as this sounds, hearing the words another surgery was like a free pass to opiates. Then of course it lead to my opiate abuse.
