Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

647391 tn?1275016633 It is pretty common for me to have them. I was switched to glipizide a couple months ago. I wonder if it is the right med for me. I tried to go the website you recommended and did not have success getting there. Once thanks for the response.
Avatar f tn I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide. also when do people take there dose, I may cut down to one pill a day to see if its helps me.
Avatar m tn Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.
Avatar n tn It is also a new practice (Joslin diabetes center - one of the world'sleading diabetes management and research centres) to start all persons with diabetes on insulin instead of oral meds. Glipizide is a drug that makes your pancreas put out more insulin so it can cause lows. It can also make your pancreas burn out faster. So do research this and consider stopping this drug (in coordination with your Dr.) Metformin does not have this effect. So you can ask your Dr.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year prior to HCV. I've used metformin, glipizide and actos (pioglitizone) for eight years now for DM2 management; including during both HCV treatments. I was eventually successful with interferon therapy, for what it's worth. I can't comment on the victoza; I have no personal experience with it. Reducing insulin resistance might be critical to succesful inteferon-based therapy as well.
Avatar m tn Last September I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I started taking Glipizide 5mg in the am along with meds for blood pressure. I also made major life style changes. I exercise an hour a day five days a week now. I eat extremely heathy. I lost 30 lbs. I'm sleeping again. I changed jobs. I'm still very overweight, but all my numbers are now in the normal range or close to it.
4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
341655 tn?1240368839 What did I say to offend you? Please reread your post for when you say, "I am taking medications for it...glipizide or some type of pill like that" infers to not knowing. What kind of statement is "some kind of pill like that!" And that's what I questioned. The quality and quantity of information in your post is the only thing we can go by. Saying to you to call your doctor today came at you the wrong way? Sorry, I will ignore further posts from you.
Avatar f tn 1. What is your Hba1c. A normal hba1c is < 5.0. If you want to control your diabetes well you should be aiming for an hba1c as close to 5 as you can safely manage. 2. Are you monitoring your blood sugars? What is your typical fasting and post eating numbers? Ideally fasting blood sugar is < 95 (ideal is in the mid 80s).
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn Are there any diabetics taking treatment? One of side effects is elevated blood sugar . Can someone help!
Avatar f tn A low carb diet has worked well for me also. I stay below 60 grams per meal. I eat three meals per day at roughly the same times daily. Read the nutrition label on everything.
Avatar f tn changed my diet to limit carbs and loss weight. I now walk everyday. A1C is now in the normal range for 3 yrs now. It went from 6.7 to 5.3 where it has stayed for 3 yrs. I did loss 100 lbs. tho and have keep it off for 3 yrs as well.
Avatar n tn I'm a novice when it comes to diabetes so I could use some help. I'm on 2.5mg of Glipizide and have been for about four years. My doctor discourages blood glucose testings -- says that's only necessary if I were on insulin. However, I will occasionally check my blood sugar -- maybe once or twice a month or if I'm not feeling well. I checked it on Sunday and found it was running somewhat high.
Avatar f tn can the medication Glipizide for diabetes interfere with the orasure test results? can anyone seroconvert after 14 weeks?
4812794 tn?1359497146 My blood sugar never came back down, after several months of closely monitoring what I ate and increasing my Glipizide to 2 tablets twice a day. Nothing, still high. I am now on Insulin glargine (rDNA origin) injections, and have been increasing the dosage bi-weekly and still nothing. Anyone got any idea how to get this under control? Wish I had come to this board before I started taking the Lyrica. I tend to have problems with drugs quite often.
