Avatar n tn In general, if your blood sugar level is below 100 mg / dL after fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours, then your blood sugar is normal. Blood sugar levels are usually lowest before each meal.
Avatar n tn I have had a blood sugar test and gave a reading of 6.1 about 1 hour after a breakfast (Weetabix, Milk, Orange Juice). I have to go back and have repeat test but after having nothing to eat approx 9 hours beforehand....will this give an increased or decreased reading.
Avatar f tn t matter, it still spikes our blood sugar. All diabetics are different. The way to find out what works for YOU is to test, test, test. Eat a food you like and test your blood sugar two hours after eating. It needs to be under 140; under 120 is even better. If it is higher, than you can't eat that food, or that amount of that food. A lot of testing in the beginning will help you figure out what foods and what amounts of those foods work for you.
1058898 tn?1275675151 I notice my blood sugar at night between 2-3 am are over 120 and my fasting blood sugar in the morning is over 100. When i get the fealing of low it is around 80 and it will keep dropping. the last time it went to 67 and i had to eat some thing i couldnt wait. i had a cup of oj and checked in 15 min and it went to 137. I have also notice that i spike about 1 hour after eating and come down around 2 hours after which is mostly in the 130. and i notice if i drink a can of pop.
Avatar f tn Usually, fasting begins at midnight for a test the next day. Your sugar by the standards of your lab states it was high on your first test. The repeat is normal. I am not sure if that was a fluke. I'd probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. 325405 tn?1262290178 If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good? Is it supposed to be under 90? Or can I not aim for that goal since I'm a diabetic and is it unrealistic? When I was gestational diabetic I had to aim for under 90 fasting and under 120 for after meals, which I ended up on insulin while pregnant to do so. My Dad says he has to aim for 90 to 110 fasting and under 140 after meals.
Avatar n tn His blood sugars are NOT fine. A fasting level of 121 mg/dl is prediabetes.
Avatar m tn It provides an average of your blood sugar over the past 3 months. She should do that test now in addition to a fasting test as well.
Avatar f tn Your fasting blood sugars are within normal range. It is improper to test randomly as it does not provide a clear insight on how your body handles excess sugar. Part of your annual health exam should include testing for diabetes. Go see your doctor for one.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
7194949 tn?1397945586 Glucose is your sugar. They check your levels.
Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
Avatar f tn If you are having the one hour glucose test the normal after the drink is 140 and under The 3 hour test should be 180 and under after the 3 hours and if you want to know what your everyday fasting blood sugar level is 90 and under.
Avatar f tn Normal fasting blood sugar is under 100; pre-diabetes is 100-125 and diabetes is 126 and over. Normal A1C (a test for average blood sugar over a couple month period) is under 5.7. 5.7-6.5 are pre-diabetes and 6.5 and over is diabetes. I would never accept an answer as vague as "it's normal" or "don't worry", especially if you are concerned about it. Always ask for the number.
Avatar n tn The range of 70-126 is considered normal before eating a meal, or as a fasting glucose level. So although the one test at slightly above 200 does seem suspect, one test alone is probably not something your doctor would base a diagnosis on. Most doctors will do a fasting glucose reading, perhaps a glucose tolerance test, or perhaps a hemoglobin a1c test, which would show the average glucose level in your body during a 3-month period.
