Avatar f tn They are perfectly safe to take along with ur prenatals. My dr. Suggested both vitamin d and vitamin c. I take both with,my prenatal. I feel ten times better. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn has checked my thyroid levels and they have been consistently normal. i continued to pursue a reason for my symptoms and in march, was diagnosed with low vitamin D by an endo. i started taking 3,000iu of a vitamin D supplement daily. two months later, i was retested and my vitamin D level had increased to about 28. my endo suggested i also start taking calcium to increase absorption.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had any luck with using vitamin d for depression and anxiety? I've been on medication for a while now and was just wondering if their was anything that would help with depression that wouldn't have such bothersome side effects.
Avatar f tn Also, should i be giving my kids vitamin D??? or should i just have them drink alot of vitamin d fortified milk?? I would do whatever i could to prevent them from getting it..Too bad they didnt know about it years ago when i was pregnant. I live in NJ--not enough sun year round here. I also was born in April...My one daughter born in May, the other February, although her due date was beg. of March. Again, had I known, i would have had fall or winter babies. Anyway, thanks for the input.
972284 tn?1247905474 There is very little danger for most of us to get too high of vitamin D levels, since most of us are low on vitamin D. What you said about 5,000 iu of vitamin D is now even what my PCP has started recommending. She works in an office where graduates from the natural health university can do their internships. So, she is aware of what the naturopathic interns suggest to her patients. I'm really grateful that she works in a clinic that actually supports an integrative medicine approach.
382218 tn?1341181487 1. The data surrounding Vitamin D has a long history but it received recent press when the blood from soldiers entering the military were looked back at later and it was found that those with a low Vitamin D level were more likely to go on to be diagnosed with MS int he future. This suggests a possible association, not necessarily a cause and effect. Low Vitamin D levels are associated with many diagnoses, including Parkinson disease. 2.
Avatar f tn That is ridiculous. Vitamin D does not prevent seizures. Please see a vet who knows what he's doing, before your dog has any more seizures without a correct diagnosis and treatment.
Avatar m tn Hi. I'm dealing with low vitamin D myself after recently discovering it is low. I've been supplementing for quite a while before learning that I'm low. Going to pick up portabello & shiitake mushrooms until my visit with GP. If I learn anything of value I'll share it here. It is said not to shower for 24 hours after sun exposure for full absorption of Vit D.
Avatar f tn I was given two months worth of vitamin d once again from my new rheumatologist. When she asked if I remembered if the vitamin d worked for me when I took it back in October and November, I couldn't say for sure but now since I started taking it again on March 20th, which is once a week. I took the second pill yesterday and realized that the vitamin d makes my right hip hurt with radiating pain down my leg.
Avatar n tn Hi. My reason for quitting the cellcept had to do with the medication warnings and a family history of numerous types of cancer (with several recents deaths). That and the fact that none of the recommended testing was being done by my doc to monitor for any potential problems. I really hesitate to mention that here because it is only my paranoia that made me quit. I don't wish to make anyone think that I think the drug will cause anything...
666921 tn?1254990618 Their big evidenve for Vitamin D causing disease is people with autoimmune disease, chronic infectious disease, and cancer seem to have a low Vitamin D level but what that level is suppose to be is wrong. You can have an undetectable amount of D3 in your blood, but it doesn't mean there isn't available stored D3 in your liver, and fat. It's also still not understood if the body even needs radiation to make cholecalciferol.
Avatar f tn Vitamin D - is not a vitamin... I wish the never used it and called it a VitD D is a hormone that controls the seratonin and other endorphine levels. If that is off many things are off. A regular Hypo should ahve 2000-4000ius daily.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what is allowable intake of Vitamin D daily? and which is better liquid or pill form?. Thanks for your input. Sunes.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Well, all I can really say is that I was prepared to seek long term, inpatient care treatment 600 miles away all weekend and yesterday morning. But, that big dose of vitamin d pulled me out of it and did so in a hurry. Because it was so overcast, I would've been in a funk all day long; a simple fact from past experiences. I have tried all kinds of various medications (adverse reactions to Lithium, Seroquel, Zyprexa) and am not willing to try anymore until we give this one a shot.
1749417 tn?1331996992 I have been doing some reading of the posts in here and came across the Vitamin D issue. My doctor also told me I was deficient too, but he never said anything about taking a supplement. Since reading the posts I think that is strange. On my other posts the replies were great, so i did some checking and my neuro is supposed to be an MS specialist but I can find no evidence of that. He said he studied at the John Trotter ms institute in St.
Avatar f tn It is where I learned how important it is to take magnesium in particular with vitamin D in order to get the most benefit from the vitamin D supplements. You should be able to find some archived newsletters on the site, too. Just Google "Vitamin D Council". It is a good idea to build up to it, as the above post says. Some people, especially people with autoimmune issues, are particularly sensitive to vitamin D supplements.

915369 tn?1355314810 My doctor has me on an anti-seizure medication rather than an anti-depressant. The way it was described to me is that if you have more manic episodes (like myself), an anti-seizure med helps. If you are more depressed than manic, an anti-depressant helps.
Avatar f tn What positive results did you see? Arthritis is the last thing I need! I take calcium, vitamin D, fish oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin C, and magnesium, I also have osteoporosis and I am 44! I am hoping to see an improvement in my bone scan this summer. Being hyper with Grave's surely didn't help.
Avatar m tn I never noticed any improvement in my symptoms after taking the vitamin D, though my vitamin D level improved to a normal level. I take a multivitamin daily which contains vitamin D, and also drink orange juice fortified with vitamin D and calcium, but that hasn't seemed to prevent my vitamin D level from becoming low again after I stop taking the high doses of vitamin D.
Monkey You should probably try to find a supplement that does not contain vitamin D, but has all of the other components in your current one. Too much vitamin D can be harmful. Good luck!
