Avatar f tn 3 days later (boxing day) I was rushed to hospital with chest pains and diagnosed with self imposed pulmonary embolism. I was put on to Warfarin and monitored in hospital for 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn I'm a 47 year old male permanent afib have been on warfarin for 1 year by ep doctor because he wanted to convert me and put me on flecanide I opted not to take the drug because it does'nt realy bother me and he told me I don't need to take warfarin anymore because I'm otherwise cardio healthy and to just take a 325 aspirin, but my primary doc wants me to stay on warfarin, so I have been staying on warfarin until 2 days ago went to doc for something else and his assistant looked a
Avatar m tn s the correct name) cauterized in his nose to reduce bleeding. Typing I recall he too is on Warfarin (common amoung us seniros) - still action was taken to reduce the bleeding risk while maintaining his INR above 2. I have good success with the 1 point INR range, but to keep it within one tenth of a point sounds impossible to me.

Best I can recall I forgot one time to stop the warfarin, or I was off only the night before the colonoscopy. There were no problems. I take my warfarin before bed, so my time off warfarin is more like 1.5 days than two days. I go back on warfarin right after the exam, may take 7.5 mg instead of the usual 5 mg to get back on INR faster.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had a surgical procedure last Thursday that required I stop all anticoagulant (warfarin) and aspirin (low dose) 5 days before the procedure. I recall my cardiologist being uncomfortable with the length of time I would be without clot prevention medications. I have permanent atrial fibrillation, so my heart is in the clot production mode 24/7. I have been back on warfarin and aspirin for two days and believe my INR is back in the 2-3 range.
Avatar f tn My only experience is Warfarin (generic Coumaden) for about 15 years. I'm at 5 mg daily, and 7.5 mg a couple of times a week. I am always in the 2-3 range, and guess Warfarin would hold be at 2.5 + if I took 7.5 mg a day. I am not suggesting a dose change, just sharing experience. I eat green vegetables/salads often and it doesn't seem to make any big change.
612551 tn?1450022175 I have been on Warfarin for at least 10 years and am happy to report that my INR is in the 2.0 to 3.0 range 90% of the time. That said, my INR today came in at 1.8, so I am below the target range. I have been (again - I took in the past but stopped for a year or more) taking a low dose level of Omega 3 using Fish Oil capsules. The recommended dose is 3 capsules a day, I take only one.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I have been on warfarin for many years, and recall in my down-hill skiing days taking a spill that made me think "concussion", but after a few minutes I seemed to be fine. Hum, maybe this is what is wrong with my memory : ( Since the end of 2007 I have been in permanent AFib too. To your question, yes, I have hit an banged my head a number of times and I have not had any bleeding related problems, related to warfarin or just to accidents.
Avatar f tn Given that yesterday he said to not take the warfarin he was changing me from the genertic warfarin and putting me on the brand name of the med coumadin. Said some folks do not tolerate warfarin well but do well on coumadin and i am to start the coumadin today. I would be lying if i didn't say i am a bit gunshy at this point. This med has made me absolutely miserable and today is my 43rd bday...
Avatar f tn So I'm a 22 year old transgender male. I am on 50 mg of testosterone weekly. I do smoke a pack a day, and I am also, even though I don't look it, 60 pounds overweight. This week I have started to notice that the back of my knee has swollen up and has turned red. It's is very sore to the touch, and it looks different today than it did yesterday. I don't recall hitting it on anything and I'm almost positive it's not a cyst.
Avatar n tn This is exactly what I read in The Coumadin (Warfarin) Help Book. Since my husband has been taking his Warfarin before his evening meal & his INR has been keeping fairly level. And that's good news, we want no more Strokes.
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar n tn ve tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert. To my way of thinking, the experts are the hematologists, pharmacists, and other health professionals who manage large numbers of people's warfarin on a daily basis.
942410 tn?1274047074 Clearly your question is one for your doctor to answer. In my experience with Warfarin, and I get along well with it, aspirin is much easier to deal with if it is sufficient. I don't know the relationship between having a pacemaker and needing Warfarin. Warfarin is a blood anticoagulant (thinner) as I'm sure you know. It is taken to reduce clot formation caused by something line Atrial Fibrillation or mechanical heart valves.
Avatar m tn t know how warfarin is affecting your life style. I have been on warfarin for years and had no concerns about running and bike riding, and using power wood working tools. All of these activities puts one at an increased risk of a cut and bleeding, but I simply take the risk. On the other hand, I don't sky dive, or pick fights ....
