Avatar f tn it started for me one year ago with sever lower body pain , after 19 weeks a doctor checked my heart rate, and diagnosed a/fib. as well as warfarin i take ( 125 digoxin +180slozem) the doctor wants me to increase the digoxin but i oass out when i take more, since starting the medication , i am short of breath, and tired, as i have sung for my supper since very young i pride myself on my large chest and lung capacity. what is going wrong ?
Avatar n tn From the little I know, AVNA makes one pacemaker dependent. Is this true for your case? That said I have also read it the AVNA was treatment for AFib, it is possible that the AFib will continue, and perhaps not be felt by the patient. If AFib continues I believe one would have to continue to take an anticoagulant, Warfarin.
Avatar n tn My husband has had Arrhythmia for about a year and a half. It started out and would come when ever. He has had a electrophesiaologist study done and is on beta blockers only when it occurs. The studys didn't pin point where his heart was misfiring and they said there was no reason why it is going on. About 3 months now it comes for 2 weeks and then it is gone for 2 weeks. Why the pattern? His Arrhythmia is like his heart skips a beat. I can put my head on his chest and hear it.
Avatar m tn t know how warfarin is affecting your life style. I have been on warfarin for years and had no concerns about running and bike riding, and using power wood working tools. All of these activities puts one at an increased risk of a cut and bleeding, but I simply take the risk. On the other hand, I don't sky dive, or pick fights ....
Avatar m tn I WAS HAVING BIGEMINAL PVCS AND SVT AND I HAVE SINUS ARRHYTHMIA AND MY DOCTOR PUT ME ON SOTALOL FOR THREE MONTHS AND THEN WEANED ME OFF AND I HAVENT HAD THEM SINCE. IT HELPED ME ALOT.
1545481 tn?1325160086 Could somebody please clarify for me, If i've had atrial flutter once. Is the heart still fluttering everyday? My regular heart beat is 50 - 65 everyday.
4121556 tn?1350428560 I am taking Prevacid but sometimes wonder if it has any effect on my irregular beats. I was on Zantac for about a year, then my anti-arrhythmic meds had to be increased and I had to go back to a PPI. I will try the gaviscon and see if that helps. Do you know if it interacts with warfarin? It seems many drugs do. Stress (lots of adrenaline) brings on my af episodes, as well as caffeine, spicy food, too little sleep.
Avatar m tn I think the other risk is if the arrhythmia continues for years, then it could weaken his heart. But, since he is going in for an echo in a week and they will probably convert him, then I do not think there is a big danger of that happening. The older a person gets, the more likely he or she is to develop atrial fibrillation. Lots of older people have it, and again, it is not dangerous in and of itself and many times (like in my case), it occurs without any underlying heart disease.
Avatar n tn The treatment for clots in the ventricle is warfarin. The clots usually become firm and do not embolize with time. If it is still soft clot, the warfarin will help to slowly reduce the size of it. There isn't much else that needs to be done now. I understand your concern about stroke. The longer you go on warfarin, the less likely you are to have a stroke from that source.
Avatar m tn I wish I could take antibiotics. Most close my throat. I can still use clindamycin without an allergic reaction (at least for now), but I'm now wondering whether that affects heart arrhythmia. Thanks for the heads up.
Avatar f tn The cardiologist at a private medical centre was not able to help much to control the rate, and he was prescribed Herbesser 200mg (diltiazem), Propranolol 20mg (10mg x 2), Lasix, Slow K (potassium supplement), warfarin 2mg and rosuvastatin 10mg (for cholesterol). But his condition persists. He gets breathless easily. We have heard of ways to cure Afib, one of which is ablation, and have contacted the National Heart Institute.
Avatar m tn cuts is little different to before Warfarin. You do bruise more easily though. Thanks again Jerry for your input and hope your arrhythmias are not making your life a misery.
Avatar f tn I had two iliac stents placed 2 weeks ago. I am on 10mg Warfarin and also heparin shots (I have Leiden factor 5). I have been having a consistent, unusually strong heart beat with an occasional skipped beat followed by a strong beat. The sensation of the stronger heart beat is constant. I am physically fit...I was doing 45 mins of cardio 5 times a week before the surgery and am just back to the gym now building up from 20 mins-30 mins.
Avatar n tn why did my pharmacist change me to jantoven when I have been taking warfarin?
Avatar m tn Hi creative, I am thank ful for your suggestions, i am under observation of a cardilogists i meet him every two months and i have got a mechanical valve, taking warfarin and regular test for INR. once in a month i hope i will be ok but i am too worried.
1013028 tn?1250923267 Thrombosis can be prevented with heparin administration and treated with heparin and warfarin. If clots occur heparin followed by warfarin ( coumadin )is usually prescribed. Higher-than-usual doses of warfarin may be needed. Warfarin or Coumadin is prescribed to prevent strokes arising from atrial fibrillation and DVTs forming in the legs usually.
212161 tn?1599427282 That question is unfortunately impossible to answer. An echocardiography and an EKG that determines where the PACs origin can bring you closer to the answer, but there are no exact answers. It depends. But keep in mind, PACs are extremely common. In other words, most people with PACs never develop A-fib. That said, why are you so afraid of A-fib? People are living with this arrhythmia for decades.
1545481 tn?1325160086 I was placed on blood thinners - Warfarin, After 2 weeks i felt symptoms as if fluttering was returning. I was kept in A & E overnight. In the morning i was advised i would have to increase my warfarin as my INR was 1.3 not enough for cardio version in 6 weeeks. I was also to start on an heart tablet. When i questioned this i was referred to cardiology.
351404 tn?1299489130 I'm also a little confused with my situation. I was diagnosed with an episode of atrial flutter on the 23 december 2010. I was placed on warfarin for 2 weeks, then taken off it. I was then told i'm in sinus rythm, back to normal. i kept away fro the gym for one month just to make sure When i returned to the gym i was fine for a month. Exactly 2 moths later on the 17th of Feb it started again and on the 22nd both episodes for 35 minutes first thing in the morning.
Avatar n tn ve had 6 cardioversions in a year and a half because medication alone did not correct my heart rhythm. Is it safe for me to take reclast? I have been diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in both hips, osteopenia in my vertebrae, and arthritis in my right hip, all of which are very painful.
3287038 tn?1398422427 Thank you for your responce. You have a logical approach to this arrhythmia, and she doesn't need any complications. I am going to see what the MD says. Jerry, I am sure now that I experienced 3.5 days of Afib when my thyroid med was too high, and I was inadvertantly left on high doses of calcium supplements for a year. At age 50 I have mild calcifications of my heart valves with mild regurg.
Avatar f tn Dear Doctors, My husband had fontan operation in 1991when he was 13 years old, and he was on warfarin during these years he is 31 years old now and one month ago he had very high palpitation (240) , in hospital they said he had VT but his dr said after one month and result of holter monitoring he had SVT, and he is on satolol now 2 times a day.
Avatar f tn I now suffer from permanent atrial fibrillation, and take warfarin, an anticoagulant. I have to stop taking that for any surgery, even for a colonoscopy (in case polyps are removed, and they always are), but that is a concern about too much bleeding. I don't take an antibiotic for surgery either, and if I had wisdom teeth (or even wisdom, ha! ) I'm sure they could be removed without me taking antibiotics.
