Avatar n tn She has been on warfarin and monitors it regularly. She also has past history endometriosis and has always had heavy periods and problems with her periods. She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more.
Avatar m tn I believe it could be a FATAL mistake if you stopped taking the warfarin. Mechanical valves will clot without warfarin and this could cause a heart attack, stroke or heart failure and could cause you to have to have another open heart surgery. PLEASE ,PLEASE talk to your doctor about any changes in the warfarin.
Avatar m tn Hi, As we get older, it is common to experience easy bruising. Factors such as aging capillaries or thinning skin, and even certain diet supplements and medications( aspirin, warfarin, etc) may cause easy bruising. Bruising may also indicate something more serious, such as a blood-clotting problem or a blood disease. If it persists, have this evaluated further for proper management. Blood tests including platelet count may be done. Once a bruise has formed, not much can be done to treat it.
200198 tn?1259887597 My doctors want me to take Iron Supplements so I got them... it's Ferrous sulfate 325 mg. They are little round blackish greenish pills. I have taken the for three days and have cramping and gas. It says on a website I read that You can get cramping , gas, Nausea, constipation in the first couple days as your body gets used to the medication. Do you think that this is all this cramping is caused from? I haven't had cramps my whole pregnancy so far...
12182312 tn?1427683956 0 so I had to get several transfusions which only brought it up to like 9. I then was put on a prescription iron pill and I ate a lot of red meat which helped bring it back to like 12. Without the transfusion I'd have been dead so it was pretty scary. Anyway talk to your doctor but if you take an iron pill make sure it's iron plus vitamin c because the vitamin c is needed to absorb it just like you need vitamin d to absorb calcium.
Avatar f tn Either over The counter iron pills Or look up What food u can eat That's high in iron and If Ur able to keep It down Just make a iron rich diet. I was severely anemic, went to hospital and found that out. They gave me iron pills, with phenergen because id get nauseous and stool softeners because id get constipation.
Avatar f tn Did iron suppliments make you nauseous? My buddy is already in starvation mode, but I also just found out I'm anemic and the iron pills are making me really nauseous. Any suggestions? 35 weeks.
7640732 tn?1403492130 Most iron supplements aren't actually absorbed very well and can cause constipation. The most well absorbed iron supplement most recommend is plant based Floradix, a liquid. (I think they also make a pill form). I'd try that.
2075737 tn?1379447682 For those of you who have to take iron supplements, what time of day is best to take them? My doctor told me to start taking them because of iron deficiency but he didn't say when to take them. I've seen online it's best to take on an empty stomach with orange juice or vitamin c... I have to take my prenatals before bed or they'll make me sick and I've heard iron tablets can make your stomach hurt.
Avatar f tn Yes. I'm taking a brand of iron supplements called Ferrosequals thats easy on the stomach and doesnt cause constipation. My hemoglobin was on the low side and its important take your iron because you dont want to bleed too much during labor.

Avatar f tn According to some studies, fish oil supplements may elevate the international normalised ratio (INR) of people taking warfarin. and may provide additional anticoagulamt effect. Fish oil, an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, may affect platelet aggregation and/or vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown and further tests may need to be done.
Avatar n tn Hey guys what are some good brands of prenatals and iron supplements I can take together from walmart?
Avatar f tn The most common INR target range for someone on warfarin is somewhere between 2.0 and 4.0. INRs of 5 or more typically are avoided because the risk of bleeding increases significantly at INRs above 5.
Avatar f tn The procedure was on Jan.29 and i was put on warfarin for 30 days. I had a normal period in february but then in march it started and never really stopped. I've basically had my period for six months straight. could this possibly be from the warfarin to be going on for this long? Is there anything that could be done about this?
Avatar m tn So, his doctor will be very cautious when he plans to discontinue warfarin. And this depends on his clinical condition. Please discuss with his treating doctor. Regards.
246923 tn?1249154300 One is called Easy Iron and the other one is called Gentle Iron. There is a high dose chelated iron from Soloray that is 50 iu. I had the same problems when I tried to take prescription iron supplements. Both kinds made me feel sick. I did much better on the chelated iron. Ask your doctor about the recommended amount to take. If you're anemic, you may be told to take the 50 mg dosage of chelated iron. That's what was recommended that I do when I was iron deficient anemic.

233622 tn?1279334905 Coumadin is an incredibly complex drug which has interactions with an unbelievable number of other drugs, foods, herbs and supplements. Some things raise the coumadin levels and others decrease them. So anyone on this drug needs to read the lists of known interactants and notify the doc of them.
