Avatar f tn This way you will use up the breast milk and he will get used to the formula taste. Once you are on formula and he is accepting it, do not reintroduce breast milk bottles. Try mixing the infant rice cereal with breast milk. He may accept it that way, and then add a small amounts of formula, as above. Thank you for your question.
Avatar f tn The hospital started my son on similac for gas and fussing and that just made him gassy. Knowing how expensive formula can be we started with the cheapest it was a Wal-Mart brand called parents choice gentle and that actually worked really well for us.
Avatar f tn Suggest giving her yogurt, cottage cheese, and strained meat/chicken for calcium and protein to supplement the infant formula she is not taking in a bottle. Suggest giving her the infant formula in a ‘sippy’ cup and see if she will accept it in that manner. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn Hey just curious. Is there a heatl risk in giving your baby infant formula once in a while? I plan to breast feed mostly but don't have a pump and my 7 year old wants to feed her new sister every once in a while so if I give infant simalac can it hurt her to switch?
Avatar f tn I wouldn't buy too much yet. Most babies tolerate formula very well and it's not a big deal but some don't and require some experimentation. Similac Advance and Enfamil newborn/infant are your basic "pepsi-coke" of infant formula they are the big names and are pretty well tolerated by most babies. Again though I would buy too much (no more than a week's worth) because you want to make sure baby will do well with it.
Avatar n tn my baby is not drinking breast milk and formula she is 3month now.her birth weightis 3.790kg,now she is 5.6kg.i want to gain her weight ,what can ido?
Avatar n tn Your child had 5-6 months feeding of breast milk which is very good and gained the full effects of it. Infant formula has the same nutrients for brain development as breast milk. The question why he stopped drinking the breast milk in the first place is an important one to ask. Did you wean him off, or you stopped producing breast milk, or he on his own stopped drinking it? These are questions needing to be answered before you decide to try to refeed him breast milk.
Avatar n tn Most breast-feed infants do not like infant formula and need it mixed with breast milk to accept it. If the bottle of infant formula tastes like breast milk she will accept the bottle more. Try mixing ¾ breast milk and ¼ infant formula at first. If she does accept it, then after a week or so, try doing a bottle mix of ½ breast milk, and ½ formula. If you wish, you can gradually go to a bottle mix of ¼ breast milk and ¾ formulas, then totally to all formula depending on how she accepts it.
Avatar f tn It is recommended that children under 1 year old should not have cow milk to prevent allergies and needs to remain on infant formula. At 1 years old, children can start to be weaned off infant formula to cow milk. To help him gain weight, suggest feeding him extra meat at meals.
Avatar f tn If she is trying to feed herself with food then let her try. Suggest soft finger foods to help her feed herself, and try giving her the infant formula in a 'sippy cup' and see if she will drink more. Is the sippy cup does not increase the amount of infant formula daily, then recommend increasing the food she eats, 3 meals daily with snacks between meals.
342988 tn?1299782356 s Choice meets all the same nutrient specifications as Enfamil and Similac - the FDA requires this and outlines infant formula regulations in the Infant Formula Act. Bottom line is there are no generic infant formulas - store brand formulas are recommended by doctors and Consumer Reports for nutritional value.
7290973 tn?1403777469 What formula have you ladies used? Was there any problems or concerns with any of them? I'm not using it yet but just want to decide what kind to try/have on hand first when I do switch. Any information is appreciated, I'm out of my element here!
Avatar f tn Whens a good time to buy formula? I don't plan on breast feeding and not sure if I should buy some before the baby comes or after I have her?
Avatar n tn I am so afraid he is not getting the proper nutrition or the amount of formula he needs for his developmental growth. He is good in weight and height - not udnerweight, growing very well, etc. But this is worrisom. Are there not standards on how many required ounces of formula an infant should have per day? thank you!
Avatar f tn Little did we know she had a allergy to milk and all the gas and not pooping was being caused by that.
Avatar f tn Stands for women, infant, and children. Its similar to food stamps.
10256164 tn?1408981241 never have to pack bottles and water and formula, just yourself. Nighttime nursing is heavenly! I was able to sleep while nursing (make sure your bed is safe for cosleeping just in case) - Your milk adjusts based on baby's age and nutritional needs. Colostrum is different than when your milk comes in is different than six months later. It's constantly changing to perfectly suit baby's needs.
Avatar f tn i am still confused about which brand of formula is good to start with my coming baby?? What is your preference ladies??
Avatar f tn With formula it might be a hit or miss for a little since some babies tolerate it very well right off the bat and others require some trial and error. All these companies also make formula for supplementing which is designed to be super close to breast milk to make it easier on moms who need to supplement. You could try those as well.
Avatar n tn She is 5 months old and seems to do very well with infant formula as you stated. Her weight is on the 90th percentile and her height is on the 50th percentile for her age. Suggest just feeding her only infant formula (increase the formula amount if you can) and no baby food for a few more months. The above feeding method follows how some breast feed infants are feed only breast milk until about 9 months old then are introduced regular finger foods.
338963 tn?1253660822 so i was upset and switched to enfamil prosobee lipil blue can it worked with the pooping he went back to smuchie (tmi) sorry but then he always seems like he is still trying so hard to go after he finishes as if he has gas and he gets very fussy and starts to cry his face gets all red and stuff and i feel horrible so i want to switch to enfamil gentlease i here it works fabulous has anyone tried this before im going to the dr at 2pm but i just dont want to continue to give him the soy stuff cuz
Avatar f tn But when i go back to work (i work at a daycare and am taking her w me) the provide the formula and they r providing the enfamil premium infant. I wanna use the up and up at home and have her use the enfamil at work.
Avatar f tn Do i need to pack the infant formula to my hospital bag? Even tho i am planing to brest feed my mother in low told me i need to bring my own formula is she right..?
Avatar f tn Some babies are just colicky and it's something they have to outgrow. When trying a new formula you should give it about a week. Also the age that babies will cry the most is 6-10 weeks old so it may just be something that he needs to work through. If you think it's upset stomach/gas you could try giving him gripe water. It can work wonders.
Avatar n tn To supplement the breast milk with infant formula, suggest mixing them. Try mixing ¾ breast milk and ¼ infant formulas at first. If he does accept it, then after a week or so, try doing a bottle mix of ½ breast milk, and ½ formulas. If you wish, you can gradually go to a bottle mix of ¼ breast milk and ¾ formulas, then totally to all formula depending on how he accepts it. When you want to wean him off the breast milk you can follow the above also.
Avatar f tn You can buy infant water with or without water.
Avatar n tn he does not want to eat neither formula milk or vedge soup or breast milk. and he is very active. after he wake up he start climbing in bed, he wants to walk and is very curious. he eats 3 times/day breast milk 1 time/day formula and 1 time/day vedge soup(or fruits blended). thank you for your answer.
Avatar n tn s touch, being held and being feed. Another suggestion is to ask the MDs if your wife can feed the infant a bottle with some formula or breast (if she is a full-term infant) along with the feeding tube so hopefully they can start to wean her off. Hoped that helped you.
