584903 tn?1233831386 s close to our DNA) most of you are looking for a fix not a solution ( a fix is taking something without changing many things) CoQ10 is brilliant, but, wont work too fantastic if your body is toxic and a mess internally, if you have terrible digestion and an excessive bad bacteria environment...
Avatar m tn CoQ10 is helpful for under-active thyroids, for it stimulates the thyroid to work more efficiently. Because safety of CoQ10 during pregnancy and lactation has not been clinically proven, Q-Gel CoQ10 should not be used during this period except under the advice of a healthcare professional. There are no other known conditions for which CoQ10 is unsafe to ingest.
Avatar m tn The body normally produces sufficient CoQ10, although some medications such as statins may interfere with this process and CoQ10 levels in the body may decline with age and heart disease. Only small amounts of CoQ10 are available from food, mainly beef and chicken. Consequently, dietary supplements are the most common way to increase the body's CoQ10 levels. After being absorbed into the body, more than 90% of CoQ10 is converted to its active form, known as (CoQH2-10) or ubiquinol.
595144 tn?1219229276 s, possibly due to taking antioxidant supplements for over 30 years and, more recently, antiaging supplements from the Life Extension Foundation (lef.org) such as SODzyme and Resveratrol. I also take CoQ10 for the heart, EPA, magnesium and some other supplements as well as medication.. My BP is under control and my cholesterol has dropped to less than half what is was when I had the heart attack. I have also lost 7Kg and have BMI of 23.
378273 tn?1262097621 ) I am now in constant Afib since surgery for 3 ankle fractures after a fainting episode. I take warfarin and metoprolol. Had one cardiovert which didn't take. Cardio wants to put me on amiodarone and do another cardiovert which I don't really want. Ablation not an option according to cardio. My question is, can I still jog with slow low EF? I feel much better now.
Avatar m tn t know how warfarin is affecting your life style. I have been on warfarin for years and had no concerns about running and bike riding, and using power wood working tools. All of these activities puts one at an increased risk of a cut and bleeding, but I simply take the risk. On the other hand, I don't sky dive, or pick fights ....
Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
Avatar n tn started taking COQ10 - along with magnesium, fish oil and hawthorn - for irregular beats/pvc's. Have read that people taking COQ10 should avoid "vigorous" exercise. Any validity? Have also read COQ10 enhances exercise endurance, and this seems contradictory ... Thank you.
475570 tn?1280941363 Hi, Coenzyme Q10 or CoQ10 is produced by the human body and is needed for the basic functioning of cells. However, the amount decreases with age and is low in patients with some chronic diseases such as heart conditions, muscular dystrophies, Parkinson's disease, cancer, diabetes, and HIV. Levels of CoQ10 in the body can be increased by taking CoQ10 supplements, although safety and effectiveness have not always been proven.
976897 tn?1379167602 I've recently been reading a lot of material on this coenzyme and some things seem quite worrying. Of course, it's difficult to know if half of what you read on the internet is true or not. I have read a few Doctors reports on the subject and several research results. Apparently this coenzyme is very important for any kind of muscle cell to efficiently generate energy, low levels cause discomfort.
Avatar f tn t seen many posts on successful supplements other than magnesium, and in the absence of a blood test showing a deficiency taking a supplement may do more harm than good. You may get something putting your subject in the search field at the top right side of this page.
Avatar f tn I have been taking a few different suppliments one of them is CoQ10. Is this ok to take during pregnancy or should I stop taking it. Should I stop taking it immediately or slowly taper it off.
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar f tn Seven months ago I had a pulmonary embolism and I am told this may have been the second one.I am taking 7 mg of warfarin a day and my INR is 2.5.I had a liver transplant 10 months ago,and was told my vascular system was not great.Given my overall situation I am concerned about heart attacks and strokes.Do you think I should be taking 75mg of aspirin a day as well as the warfarin? Thanks.
1323747 tn?1364806882 I wish I could say yes, as Lipoic Acid and CoQ10 were both prescribed for my son (after i got back his metabolic function test). Lipoic Acid smells horrible, so my son wouldn't take it, or use the skin cream. I didn't know it could affect thyroid function, it was prescribed for carbohydrate metabolism. He has been taking a little CoQ10 for awhile, based on an elevation of hydroxymethylglutarate on his test. (This is a metabolite of CoQ10 synthesis).
Avatar n tn She has been on warfarin and monitors it regularly. She also has past history endometriosis and has always had heavy periods and problems with her periods. She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more.
Avatar m tn I am 185 cm tall and weigh 85 kgs and consider myself in excellent condition. A week ago after doing intense rowing I brought on AF. On Saturday I went to the clinic. They did an EKG and then sent me to the hospital where they kept me over night. I have been diagnosed with AF and put on wayfarin and beta blockers. I feel like **** now. My question is, what should I do now? Is it foolish to do some exercise and try to convert myself? I know when my rhythm is normal I feel great.
Avatar m tn I believe it could be a FATAL mistake if you stopped taking the warfarin. Mechanical valves will clot without warfarin and this could cause a heart attack, stroke or heart failure and could cause you to have to have another open heart surgery. PLEASE ,PLEASE talk to your doctor about any changes in the warfarin.
Avatar n tn A drastic change in diet can alter INR also, but in my own personal experience, it has usually been other meds that caused me to need to change my warfarin dosage and not my diet. An INR that is consistently out of range is dangerous. Don't worry about maintaining the same dose of warfarin. Worry about maintaining an INR that is consistently within range. Whatever dose of warfarin you have to take to stay in range is okay.
Avatar f tn Sometimes aspirin is used in place of the Plavix, and the patient will be on aspirin and warfarin. That type of combo regimen is used when the doctor doesn't think that one drug alone is enough to do the job, and one drug obviously wasn't enough in your case. It seems that your Plavix and warfarin regimen is working, so I'll join you in giving thanks for that.
Avatar m tn I have been reading a lot of coq10 supplements and gum health, so I decided to give a try. I got a bottle of Doctor's Best, [Hig]h [Abso]rption CoQ10, 100 mg, 120 Veggie Caps and after a week of taking it, I noticed my teeth became real sensitive. They even hurt when I bit down on some tortilla chip, and even the gum underneath my 10-year crown felt tingling..scary.. I immediately stopped taking the supplement that day and three days later, my teeth were back to normal.
Avatar n tn I have been on Coumadin for 18 years due to Lupus Anticoagulant (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and several DVTs. In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. My doc has debated when to take me off the Plavix safely....what are the recent studies about this dilemma? thanks so much!
