Avatar n tn But this time I am going to ask the GP to try for Gout immediately (VIOXX and/or Allopurinol for Uric Acid/Gout). I notice it seems to reoccur every 5 years. Advice appreciated?
Avatar n tn Symptons are always have been cold, tired, joint and muscle pain worse in fingers, I took Vioxx before it was removed , high blood pressure , tinnitus, completely deaf over 2,500 cycles in both ears. Hearing aids made no difference. Dentist last month couldn't freeze my gums with 2 needles of Carbocaine. 7mm nodule on thyroid. Avatar n tn I had a DVT that went through my heart and into my lungs(PE). A valve was damaged, also one chanber of my heart. My problem is that I wasn't diagnosed as a "heart attack", but rather a "pulmonary embolism", and the lawyers representing me in my vioxx lawsuit say it has to be a heart attack, not a PE. Isn't a heart attack part of a PE? Rather, did I suffer a heart attack as well as a pulmonary embolism?
Avatar f tn There was no money exchanged or special consideration given to get Vioxx on the market. However, Vioxx is a good example of a study not digging deep enough into long term effects of a new drug. Vioxx was introduced in 1999 and was originally thought of as a treatment for polyps in the intestinal track.
Avatar n tn [2] A series of small-scale studies completed in Germany found that H. procumbens was indistinguishable from Vioxx in the treatment of chronic low back pain,[3] and was well-tolerated after more than four years of treatment of H. procumbens alone.[4] H. procumbens also seems efficacious in the treatment of arthritis-caused hip and knee pain.
Avatar n tn ive bin having bad pain and cant function normal .im always in pain and my two arms go numb to the fingers. i take vioxx, a pain patch, and neurotin. but that doesent seem to be helping its going on two years and im going mad, what can i do.
Avatar f tn I am looking at getting travel insurance for a trip abroad and I just want to feel confident that I am covered should any medical emergencies/payouts arise during the trip (obviously, this can be quite costly). I just thought that perhaps I might now be classed as 'Chiari-free' now that I'm 7 months post decompression and that the aim of the surgery is obviously working/been successful, ie the syrinx in my cord is shrinking - if you see what I mean.
Avatar m tn This group of NSAIDs has the advantage of having fewer gastrointestinal side effects – less abdominal discomfort and less risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, than conventional NSAIDs. There are three different COX-2 inhibitors currently available to the public– Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra. COX-2 inhibitors have been associated with some liver dysfunction, although not as commonly as other NSAIDs. Recently, Vioxx has been removed from the market due to heart-related problems.
Avatar m tn t stop the vics), that being aside, you should read the warning leaflet and decide for yourself if the side effects are worth it. I was given vioxx years ago, read the warnings about heart attacks and such, and threw them all in the trash! Not much later it was pulled from the market. If I lost a loved one, $$ isn't going to bring the back anyway, it's all stupid. If I do myself in, I guess I will come back and haunt the manufacturers....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...........
Avatar f tn In that same period of time, 490,000 people have died from prescription drugs, not counting the Vioxx scandal. That means that prescription drugs in this country are at least 16,400 percent deadlier than terrorism. Again, those are the conservative numbers. A more realistic number, which would include deaths from over-the-counter drugs, makes drug consumption 32,000 percent deadlier than terrorism. But the scope of "Death by Medicine" is even wider.
Avatar f tn neurontin and lyrica for nerve pain, aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, celebrex, vioxx, midol, dozens of different types of opiates both synthetic and derived from the poppy, marijuana, kava, willow bark, turmeric, ginger, benzos, nitrous oxide gas, ether, and that's just again not even thinking hard about it.

Avatar m tn I was even prescribed VIOXX in the States for these symptoms.

Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply. Yes, insurance does prob. want a referral to an orthopedist first, just seems "the cart before the horse" game. How does my GP know who to refer me to, an ortho. or a neuro. without the MRI results first?? Could poss. cost them more in payouts, if I'm referred to the wrong person?? I hate ins. companies....I've paid in premiums more that enough this year to pay for an MRI!! May have to pay out of my own pocket to get it done.

Avatar f tn Romney did not elaborate on whether his incentive structure for himself would include the kind of outlandish payouts Fake Ross Perot called for in his very similar plan. Nevertheless, the very idea of incentive pay for the president is a little bizarre. The President of the United States is the nation’s top public service position.
492921 tn?1321289896 It really is normal, as the others have said. The one thing I will add is that you're life WON'T ever be the same....

Avatar m tn Years ago I tried Vioxx (the non-sulpha version of Celebrex) and wound up in the ER with dangerously high BP. Trouble is, even after I stopped Vioxx my BP never went back to normal. Now I'm on two different BP meds to control it. (Full disclosure: I also have a family history of hypertension.) I took meloxicam for a long time because I could take it along with my BP meds, but eventually my stomach couldn't take it anymore.
Avatar f tn pylori infection, smoking, cyclooxygenase inhibitor medication ie)Celebrex, Vioxx, Bectra, also potassium chloride, chemotherapeutic agents, and bisphosphonate classification of medications.
163305 tn?1333668571 Chile is undertaking its biggest overhaul ever of its pioneering private pension system, adding sweeping public payouts for the low-income elderly. The new $2 billion-a-year program will expand public pensions to groups left out by private pensions - the poor and self-employed, homewives, street vendors and farmers who saved little for retirement - granting about a quarter of the nation's work force public pensions by 2012.
