Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) and other NSAIDs are drugs that are widely used for their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. They also have the potential to cause drug-induced liver disease.
There are three different COX-2 inhibitors currently available to the public– Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra. COX-2 inhibitors have been associated with some liver dysfunction, although not as commonly as other NSAIDs. Recently, Vioxx has been removed from the market due to heart-related problems. Celebrex and Bextra are currently being investigated for similar heart-related toxicities.
It is recommended that people with liver disease avoid using all NSAIDs.
I do not understand why the Doctors answering service nurses are soooo uneducated about the treatment and were worthless in advising me what I can take to make the headaches better. You would think that since this Doctor has over 80 patients currently on treatment that they would have 1 nurse fielding the calls that knows what is going on...... SO, tell me - what did your Doctors tell you was O.K. to do for the headaches. I am on the Incivek program and just on the 2nd day...yikes!

When HIV has low body weight (less than 60kg or about 130 lbs) they found higher kidney damage and found lowering Viread dose helps in this population.
Is this transferable to HBV? I am low body weight at 115 lbs (eat healthy and exercise). I am worried about kidney damage as my age increases (now 41), with low body weight, and knowing this medication is long term/for life.
How common is kidney damage on HBV only? I do not want to have to worry about my kidneys now too on top of HBV.
As independent studies started to show a correlation between Vioxx and an increase risk of heart attack and stroke, the NIH funded the VIGOR study I believe in 2001 at the request of the Arthritis Advisory Committee to determine if there was indeed a link. What they discovered was that all NSAIDS increased the risk for heart attack and stroke with Vioxx being the worst.

Hi. I am a 59 yr old male. Symptons are always have been cold, tired, joint and muscle pain worse in fingers, I took Vioxx before it was removed , high blood pressure , tinnitus, completely deaf over 2,500 cycles in both ears. Hearing aids made no difference. Dentist last month couldn't freeze my gums with 2 needles of Carbocaine.

I have talked to a doctor about this and he said that someone can still have damage, and test again and it will show...IDK..As far as kidneys., I have never had a kidney infection until i started and even stopped using pills....I plan on getting my liver checked again soon....I pray your results come out good....Let us know..

5.6 is an excellent a1c and as one who's not (yet) achieved an a1c under 6, I admire the work & discipline it takes to achieve that.
If I were to squeeze one of my testicles I feel almost nothing, no kidney pain either. I have no sensation of hot and cold in my penis. I use viagra for sex but I can't get off, it's like using morning wood for sex (numb feeling).I can get off by myself but not easily. Any ideas on what might have happened and if the damage is irreversible?
The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..

age 48 male with Diabetes Type II for many years with recent blood test as follows:
Urea 9.2mmol/L (55.2 mg/dl ) Creatinine 121mmol/L1.37 mg/dl( HBA1c 9.9 mmol/L(not sure mg)
I've general doctor that says creatine is high but still normal! But, search thru. websites say otherwise. My creatinine and Urea (BUN) levels seems to signalling I'm heading for kidney problems ahead.
