I'm being treated for "bacterial Keratitis" on the left eye. I've had the infection for about two weeks. I waited a long time to see a doctor because I don't have insurance and I thought it was pinkey and would heal on it's own. I was wrong. I finally went at cost of $140. I was diagnosed and given vigamox (4 x day) and Tobradex. The doctor insisted I come back the next day to check my pupil after dilated. So, I paid another $140 for that exam.
Within a day of getting off the medicated drops, there was a pink blur in my left eye. I continued using the medication thinking it was pink eye again. It worked for a week but now my eye is quite veiny.
The doctor also had said that my eyes were very dry. Could this be the dryness that's making my eyes veiny?
I've made an appointment to see the optometrist again, but it's not till another two weeks. I would like to have some sort of idea (and perhaps remedies I can do now).
Last two weeks have been really bad and i have seen like mulitiple Doctor`s who have all said i had pink eye or this and that. I am using patanol and vigamox. Problem is i have like a white discharge on my eye and it does not like to come out. I use a hot compress twice a day then i try to rinse my eye and flush my eye as well. Nothing it just remains in my eye.Most of the time i go to bed and it still there.
I am no Dr. but I believe in 3 years the Vigamox might lose it's effectiveness. If it were me, this is one area I wouldn't cut back on because Vigamox is CRITICAL for your eye health after eye procedures. You don't want to kick yourself if your eye heals with complications.
I too am always tring to save money where I can, but I would do without a new pair of shoes, jeans, or something else instead...just my two cents.
t relieve the pink eye or excessive tears. Now I am putting Vigamox followed by Prednisolone drops. My pink eye appears to be gone, but not the tears. So, if after your long battle with this, have you found the answers you've been looking for? Are your eyes back to normal? And could you tell me your outcome? Did a Doctor finally test your tears? I appreciate any feedback you might give.
I did this for about eight years and never had any problems until about a year and a half ago. In November 2009, I was diagnosed with pink eye and was given vigamox. About a day later I had to go to the emergency room because I was covered in a rash and having problems breathing. After that, my eye doctor took me off the vigamox and gave me a new prescription eye drop. It seemed to be working at first, but after a few weeks of the new drop it made my eye pressure skyrocket.
It happen on friday at 2am when I removed my contact lense the left one went fine but the right eye burned and my eye started to tears. I had my lenses for 18h that day and my eyes were dry since I went to see a music show and a lot of people were smoking. I didn't find the lense, so I though the sensation was from the contact being lost in the back of my eyes. I added eye drop and it burned...I went to bed and the next day still painfull, eye sensitive to light.
I had unprotected oral from a sex worker, and about three weeks, later, got symptoms of burning, and a clear discharge etc, I was treated, before test results got back with doxy, 100x2 daily, and my GF was treated with 1 gram of Azithromycin in one treatment, in the last few hours, I have started to get symptoms of pink eye, I then treated it with vigamox x 3 daily, does this sound like a normal treatment, and result, my buring sensations have gone away, and my eye is slowly calming down.
everything was going good and my vision was start improving but after 4 days when i use vigamox drop i faced immediate reaction casing radness, swelling and blurriness in my eye so i visit my doctor next day and she told me to stop taking vigamox and continue using tobradax and gentreal 3 times a day for one month.
Within hours both of my eyes are had become drastically worse -- red, swollen eyelids, constant discharge photophobia and pain, Having never had pink eye before, I assumed this was the natural progression of the affliction, and over the next five days I took my drops four times a day as prescribed, my eyes getting worse and worse. The vet cost was typical, the test was a simple "wick" test and while the medication is expensive, about $35 and I use it only every other day or so, watching to see if my dog show dry eye symptoms. The vet suggested twice a day, but I think that was a worse case prescription.
If you are feeling very, very bold, you might try risking a number of months of personal well-being by instilling adrop of Vigamox in your eye and watching for a reaction about two to three hours later.
Truthfully, I feel shy about asking my eye doctor to report this--though I will do so--since he has clearly either forgotten or not noticed my request to avoid fluoroquinolones.
I am in the middle of having cataract surgery (one eye is done and the other will be done tomorrow). The doctor gave me small samples of Nevanac & Vigamox to use before and after the surgeries. He also gave me a prescription for both. In checking with my health insurance plan, I see that each prescription will cost me $75 to fill. I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac?
I saw my Doctor he put numbing drops in my eyes and did a slit light test, then prescribed me acular and vigamox, directed me to two different OTC drops ( one which is almost gel like ). Told me that I had a cut with scar tissue and that it would be a long and painful healing process. I was told not be in the wind or under a fan, always have on sun glasses when outside, and keep light dim while inside. He said it would probably take eight to twelve weeks to heal.

i have shown my condition to 3 doctyors and have taken different eye drops begining with VIGAMOX and more recently ZEDATIN and FML forte. my left eye appears smaller than the right eye, it is very red in the lower part of the eye as well as in the sides. these symptoms are present in the left eye as well but are not as severe. i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
He constantly was rubbing it. I took him to his pediatrician and he ruled out pink eye and an object in his eye. He gave us a prescription for the eye called vigamox, which is a strong antibiotic, and said he had some kind of allergic reaction to something. The swollen eye went down after a day and the redness was slowing disappearing. I also took him to an eye specialist the other day and he ruled out anything serious and said he may simply have allergies.
