Avatar m tn Viagra(Sildenafil) is a vasodilator (that is, a drug that dilates blood vessels), and consequently it lowers the systolic blood pressure (the "top" number in blood pressure measurements) by an average of 8 mmHg. In the majority of patients with heart disease, including most of those being treated with antihypertensive drugs, this is not a problem.

Avatar n tn t take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low. So I stopped using my nitroglycerin for about 48 hours so I can take the Viagra. I noticed that I wasn't having chest pains a few hours after I took the viagra. Then I didn't have angina for over a day. Once I felt a little chest pain, I took another viagra and no angina. I've been taken viagra for over 2 weeks and no angina. I even have been doing cardio with no chest pain whatsoever.
Avatar n tn Can Viagra be crushed. I am proscribed 25mg of viagra which I buy as 50mg pills to save money and cut in half. Cutting a viagra in half is not easy because they are hard coated and not scored (and oddly shaped). I find that 25mg is a little too much since it has side effects (a low blood pressure feeling, even though I don't think my blood pressure is really low). I have tried cutting the 50mg into fourth (very difficult), but this seems like a little too little.
Avatar f tn taking virapramil will increase the effect of viagra so dosing will need to be considered thoughtfully and a professional needs to do that. Also, low blood pressure can be problematic. You just really need guidance to use the med with your coronary history.
Avatar m tn The most common side effects of Viagra and the other PDE5 inhibitors are flushing and headache. PDE5 drugs can cause dangerously low blood pressure if they are taken with nitroglycerin or other nitrate medications that are used to treat chest pain and heart disease. In patients that cannot tolerate PDE5 inhibitors there are other treatments available. The drug alprostadil (Caverject, Edex, Muse) also increases blood flow to the penis leading to an erection.
Avatar m tn What exactly do you mean by "loose"? Can you still get an erection? Masturbation is not harmful (well, maybe if you are doing it several times a day), it did not cause this problem. Blood pressure and heartrate may well be connected with this problem (the penis becomes hard by being pumped full of blood). Possibly being underweight too, I don't know about that. Viagra and surgery can both help. I'd certainly try Viagra before even considering surgery!
Avatar n tn Since they both independently dilate the blood vessels, it is conceivable that together they could lower the blood pressure too much. So Viagra is usually not recommended for men with high blood pressure. However, if he has vascular damage which is affecting erections, he should see consult his cardiologist to determine whether Viagra, Cialis, etc. are safe for him. Unless your partner has physiological factors which inhibit erection, there are other many other avenues to explore.
Avatar m tn I would always think I could not maintain erections because I was obese and had high blood pressure and took lisinopril. I am now at a healthy weight and do not take any blood pressure meds. Sometimes I am able to maintain a weak erection while the girl is on top but when I try to switch positions, the erection is gone. I have been too uncomfortable to talk with my doctor about the issue but I know that it's time. About a year ago I purchased Viagra online from out of the country.
Avatar m tn It can also have side effects including heart attack from low blood pressure. Viagra must be prescribed by a physician, and is generally only available to those with a medical condition that prevents erection. As to your second question, let me pose one back to you: If you break your leg and need to use a cane for walking while your leg heals, eventually, you’ll need to stop using the cane so you can learn to walk again without a limp.
Avatar n tn Viagra is a medication that also causes a drop in the patient's blood pressure. It is important for patients to ask on an individual basis whether it is a medication that they can safely take with their other medications. If you are taking a nitroglycerin preparation, Viagra is NOT allowed. Do not use Viagra within 24 hours of the test. Nitro-glycerine (sometimes given during a stress test) may interact with Viagra, resulting in a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Common physical causes of erectile dysfunction include heart disease, diabetes, nerve damage and high blood pressure. Hormonal issues, such as low testosterone, can also affect your level of sexual desire, preventing you from getting an erection even with Viagra. I'd talk to your doctor.

He has been taking Viagra 100 mg ever since he was taking blood pressure medication enable him to have sex and it was OK for many years. 1548028 tn?1324612446 All I know is he has spent thousands of dollars searching the world over for help with MS.. Even went to New York and had stents placed to increase blood flow. It was amazing seeing someone who walks like Frankenstein and then all of a sudden walking normal. He really struggles to work everyday. The surgery did work well for about 6 weeks and then stopped working. His son with MS and wheelchair bound also tried this surgery but he came home and ran 2 miles and his failed instantly.
Avatar m tn Other medical causes may be diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, low testosterone, depression, spinal cord and neurological causes. You can take Viagra and use the delay creams simultaneously. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn So it has nothing to do with MS. Viagra increases blood flow and it helps a lot. It will drop your blood pressure and you don't want it to drop to a dangerous level, so you need to monitor it. Start with the minimum effective dose which is 25mg and see if it does something for you. If you wait for a study from the FDA on Viagra for MS, then it will probably happen after you are dead. Please try this now. Viagra has a very good safety profile for a number of years now.
Avatar n tn im on them too and have somewhat the same problem. I dont understand why viagra is not helping. Ive heard that low testosterone can affect one sex life. Do talk to your doctor about this. Hows your PSA? Have your had this tested in a while. At that age should check it once a year.
Avatar m tn The only thing that came back as a concern was my blood platelets were low. Since I had no previous bloodwork to go by, they were unsure whether it was any cause of concern but I continue to have that monitored and it is still below average. I also have an strophic kidney they found during testing with the low platelets. Doing research, I have not seen any link between low platelets and low labido/ED. I then saw a urologist who did the same tests regarding low labido.
Avatar m tn Hi mate, Go and see a decent urologist. There are not just pills these days, there are injections, 'volumisers' (kind of like blood pressure cuffs for the penis), and many other things that can help. Any decent doc should be able to at least refer you to a specialist in that area.
Avatar m tn They both can lower your blood pressure and the two together may cause more than just an additive effect. I think it safest to not use both. You could contact the manufacturer of viagra (Pfizer) and ask their opinion. S.A.Liroff, M.D.
Avatar m tn Common causes causing erection problem are stress and anxiety, poor communication with your partner, unrealistic sexual expectations, which make sex a task rather than a pleasure, negative feelings about non performance, smoking, alcohol and sometimes illicit drugs and medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, low testosterone, depression, spinal cord injury, nerve damage (for example, from prostate surgery), or neurologic disorders (s
Avatar f tn Viagra and Cialis without sex drive equals an erection that allows for sex but no satisfaction to the male if there is no drive. Low testosterone causes low sex drive and erectile dysfunction. I give myself prscribed shot of testosterone twice a month which definitly brings back your sex drive but sex drive if you cant get an erection is probably worst that not having it, so I also take prescribed Viagra on occasion.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and she did some testosterone test which came back really low, so she put me on Tgel along with some diuretic pills for my blood pressure, since it was regularly around 135/80. I started that treatment along with some viagra pills (which would work everytime), but it's hard to tell whether the testosterone treatment worked or not since I only felt like I got better for a couple of days or a week or two, and then had problems again.
