I also have just had a bladder distention but all this was going on before the bladder distention.
Avatar f tn If diabetes is ruled out then other possibilities which need to be ruled out are interstitial cystitis, overactive bladder syndrome, stroke and other neurological diseases, urinary incontinence, bladder cancer(rare) and bladder dysfunction . Please consult a urologist in that case. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn The last time i went maybe a week ago he told me now we would focus on a condition called Interstitial Cystitis said its rare in men but still worth a shot and the medication for it has to be taken 3x a day and if thats the cause it wont be an immediate fix. He also talked about a procedure where where they would look into my bladder through my urethra and put a higher dosage of the medicine directly into my bladder..
Avatar f tn Although the shooting pains have resolved you still have vaginal pain with intercourse frequently seen in IC patients as well. Interstitial Cystitis and overactive bladder are both sensory urgency problem, and sometimes difficult to distinguish. We also know that many patients have both problems. I would start by treating you with an overactive bladder medication like ditropan or vesicare and see what happens to your symptoms.
Avatar f tn There are many things that can cause this pain-burning it could be chronic cystitis or interstitial cystitis. The symptoms are the same and a good urologist can help diagnosis the problems. Either way you pain, burning and bladder pain. The self help things etc. can help you while you see a diagnosis! We have an IC support forum here on this site actually two, listed below. There is actually an article on the physical relationship on the first forum.
Avatar n tn He believes it may turn out to be interstitial cystitis, based on my symptoms and severe lower abdominal pain that has not been explained by gynocological or gastrointestinal testing. The only catching point is....I'm nauseated. The more my bladder hurts, the more nauseated I get. He wasn't sure if that played into it or not. Has anyone else with IC ever experienced this kind of nausea? Could it just be my body's reaction to pain?
Avatar f tn I was tested and have Interstitial cystitis which is just another gift that Fibromyalgia gives us. I don't have the pain when urinating but do have the frequency urges especially at night; as soon as I lay down the pressure is there and is still there immediately after I go to the bathroom. Does anyone know of something I can do to stop the pressure? I would love to get some sleep.
Avatar f tn I seem to have chronic bladder problems, like frequent urination, bladder spasms, my urine samples usually come back negative. Could this be Interstitial cystitis?
Avatar n tn Chronic infection, Interstitial cystitis, stone in urinary system and UTI can all cause blood in urine. In women it can also be endometriosis of the urinary bladder. I am sorry to say but polyps or nodules in urinary bladder are taken to be cancerous unless proved otherwise by a biopsy. You may or may not need further tests like urethroscopy, cystoscopy, IVP etc. Please discuss this with an urologist and consult your gynecologist to rule out endometriosis. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Radiation damage to the bladder during treatment for pelvic cancers can cause radiation cystitis. Certain chemotherapy drugs can cause a chemical cystitis. Interstitial cystitis is in the category of nonbacterial cystitis caused by an inflammation in the bladder wall. Cure for abacterial cystitis required long time therapy and the response to treatment is usually poor.
Avatar n tn Does interstitial cystitis cause microscopic hematuria? I have all the symptoms of IC but have not seen hematuria listed as one. A bladder infection has been ruled out. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Seven years ago I had a normal bout of cystitis due to cold weather and a draught - this always brings it on for me if I'm not well wrapped up. Then a week later I got a bladder full of different sensations: pressure, irritation- like it was all shrivelled up, the need to urinate thimblefuls, like I had a cannonball in there, a sensation of grittiness. This lasted for a year. I had an internal exam of the bladder at the time which looked fine.
Avatar f tn s from this is because of lack of estrogen in vagina so I have to use medication for that too. There is also something called interstitial cystitis which mimics symptoms of UTI like frequency and urgency. Did you ever get a work up to find out why you have over active bladder? If not I'd suggest that.

Avatar f tn Interstitial cystitis is a possibility. I'd see a urologist and talk to them about it. I have IC and it started out as just being severe pain every time i went to the bathroom. Not a burning feeling, just sharp horrible pain. They kept testing for bladder infections but it was always negative. Ask a urologist about the possibility of interstitial cystitis. They took two years but finally diagnosed me. The only real way to find out if you have it or not is a tiny surgery.

Avatar f tn I will be 60 days clean in 2 days and i was recently diagnosed before i began my recovering journey with interstitial cystitis. I have been having tremendously terrible pains and i know it is from my bladder. At some points of the day it knocks my off my feet and i just lay in the floor until i can get up. I have not followed up with a doctor(we recently moved across the US requiring me to find new doctor) and Im scared to see a doctor since that was my was of getting my fix.
Avatar n tn I have interstitial cystitis as well, and I can't really answer your question. I don't know if you could call your urologist and see if you can get an appt sooner? Maybe talk to the nurse there with your issues? I hope it gets better for you!
