Avatar f tn A vascular surgeon specializes in the treatment of veins and their various disorders. For example, if someone has varicose veins that are severe enough to cause blood clots, a vascular surgeon will treat that condition - among many others. Can you tell us what condition you have that needs a vascular surgeon?
927365 tn?1245748499 Treatment of leg veins can be performed by injection of sclerosing agents into the veins and external lasers that work specifically for leg veins. In addition, treatment of underlying venous insufficiency of the deep venous system may be appropriate. The use if internal lasers can now be used in place of traditional vein stripping. You need to consult with a vascular surgeon or plastic surgeon in your area with expertise in this area.
Avatar f tn It is also possible to have EDS that is not vascular and have some "vascular" symptoms. I have EDS...not vascular and had horrible varicose veins up and down both legs by the age of 20. Just a few years ago I had my veins pulled out and the Dr said that I was 1 of the 3 worst cases he had ever seen and the other 2 were elderly. My skin hurts all the time...even getting a pedicure when they rub your legs hurts.
Avatar m tn Hello, From your symptoms it looks like spider veins or varicose veins penis. The varicose vein on the penis does not require any treatment. It may bruise during sexual intercourse and thus wearing of a condom is highly recommended. Also use of lubricants is recommended during masturbation or during sexual intercourse to avoid bruising the vein. No other treatment is required. In fact most of the treatment like laser treatment will cause scarring, infection, nerve and vascular damage.
Avatar f tn The treatment will depend on the severity of disease. If you have multiple varicose veins, then the cause could be prolonged standing, faulty valves, family history, blood pressure and cholesterol problems, sedentary life style, congenital malformation of veins, and obesity. If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. A duplex ultrasound of the vein will need to be carried out.
1299624 tn?1332803936 I did have an ultrasound and no blood clot was found. I have an appointment with a vascular surgeon tomorrow to discuss injecting or removing the vein.
155701 tn?1230047101 When I lean against something (like the bathroom vanity), it feels like a big bruise. These are not spider veins or varicose. They look like normal veins except that they're very noticable and only on the upper region of my right thigh. I wouldn't be worried about them except for the fact that they feel like a bruise. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn You should discuss this with the surgeon who will be operating you for hip replacement. Both orthopedic and vascular surgeon will need to deal with this. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
571167 tn?1223214465 These meds cause hostility, restlessness, digestive, vascular (varicose veins, hemrhoids, and varicose veins in the scrotum--infertility), urinary, reproductive (impotence), digestive problems, sleeplessness, ticks, stiffness, and more! The bottom line is that the drugs make them money.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I dont suggest laser treatment or surgery for the varicose veins problem.I dont have experience too .I treat my varicose veins with venorid and got rid of it.
Avatar f tn I'm 32 weeks and recently noticed my vagina is very swollen, especially on one side. From what I've been reading (I have an appointment with my OB early next week) I have vulvar varicose veins. Does anyone else have this or have had them? I'm afraid they will get worse and won't go away.
Avatar n tn In fact most of the treatment like laser treatment will cause scarring, infection, nerve and vascular damage. So in my opinion, you should leave them as such. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn I keep thinking it is a vein or blood vessel issue. I have become very vascular, have varicose veins/ spider veins suddenly and the bruising. I also feel oxygen deprived when I swell a lot.
Avatar f tn Have you undergone any recent surgery on the right leg, ankle or the foot? Is there any history of varicose veins or defective valves in the leg veins? I hope you are not taking any hormone like estrogens, perimenopausal? This needs urgent attention by a surgeon. Have you been checked for diabetes? It could be an abscess needing urgent drainage. You must go to the emergency room and an urgent x ray done to check for any ankle fracture.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your advice. They checked to see if my blood wasl clotting is that what you mean by platelet count? I don't think it's from varicose veins. I had the same feeling agian today it seems when I do alot of physical activity my legs feel like some one is giving them charlie horses?
Avatar f tn The most common causes of edema only in one foot are varicose veins and thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the veins) of the deep veins of the legs. These conditions can cause improper pumping of the blood by the veins and venous stasis. Hence when you walk the circulation is more and hence more pooling. This can be diagnosed by color dopplar or an angiogram. Do consult a vascular surgeon for this. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Horse chestnut is the best-known natural treatment for varicose veins. It helps prevent swelling and strengthens capillary and vein walls. The usual dose is 300 mg a day. Side effects are pretty rare, but if you start feeling itchy or nauseous, taper back your dose. Nature’s Way has a widely available, quality product. Grape seed extract also supports the walls of blood vessels. Take 150 to 300 mg in divided doses over the course of a day. I like the Activin product.
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
Avatar f tn On Friday January 10th my ENT referred me to see a vascular surgeon. I am seeing the vascular surgeon today. Last night I noticed another large hard lump in another vein in my wrist. This is extremely painful to the point work is becoming difficult (i work in an office and spend my day on the computer). I cannot find any information about these blood clots or what happens when they get worse (as mine have). Has anyone experienced this and what will the surgeon do to alleviate this.
Avatar m tn Could also be a vascular issue, visited vascular surgeon yet? Varicose veins and edema?
Avatar m tn Varicose veins do run in families, but you can get them to slow down, or sometimes even stop, with vein-strengthening, flavonoid-rich foods and flavonoid supplements. You can boost your flavonoid levels by eating blue, red, and purple foods. or taking a supplement high in flavonoids, such as bilberry, hawthorne, or ginkgo. Also, make sure you have enough fiber in your diet.
