Avatar m tn Although he has been drinking water when he feels like it. I went to the vet and she told me to give him Tylosin Tartrate. She said to give him 0.8cc for 12 hrs. As I type this, I gave him 3 doses using a syringe. What I notice is that, after giving my dog the Tylosin Tartrate, my dog has become lethargic, having minor difficulty breathing and he still hasn't eaten. Tried giving him pumpkin pure to harden up his poop, but he doesn't want to eat.
286124 tn?1214938528 Look into it somemore...it may have some application to other addictions...many drs are prescribing it "off-label" for alcohol additions and studies have shown that it is eefective in that area as well. So, yours is an interesting question. My guess is that even if is shows some benefit for those looking to quit opiates, I doubt it would do much for the initial phase of w/d from pills. Good question though. Do look into Chantix and Alcohol as a starting place...
Avatar f tn Hello, Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban (bupropion) are the only two non-nicotine medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for smoking cessation; both are available in pill form and only by prescription. Chantix received FDA approval in 2006; Zyban was approved in 1997. These drugs can be effective tools, but users need to be aware of some potentially serious side effects. You can try that and they are very cheap in some pharmacy's.

7510956 tn?1411671417 I was given Metropolol Tartrate and I took the Meds for 2 months (25mg). I then got off them since I felt it could have been anxiety and never had episodes again until last month I began to have them again. I felt afraid as I did the first time and I began taking half of the Metropolol (25mg) each morning to see how I do. This time again I felt the urge to go to the ER but I did not since I know all they are going to do is send me to a cardiologist.
Avatar n tn There are two type of Metoprolol, Tartrate and Succinate. With Metoprolol Tartrate, you take it twice a day, usually 12 hours apart. Maximum plasma levels occur about an hour after taking in and it begins to be metabolized. Typically, the dose is reduced 50% every 4 to 5 hours. This is why it's taken twice a day. Metoprolol Succinate is the time release version. It's taken once a day and is slowly metabolized throughout a 24 hr. period.
Avatar n tn I take the toprol xl and I use the generic and it cost me roughly $20 and I take 125mg twice a day. but you must make sure it is the generic for toprol xl because there is metoprolol succinate which is the generic for toprol xl and metoprolol tartrate which is the generic for lopressor. They both work in two different ways so they can not be interchanged at the same dose. I asked this question before toprol xl became a generic.
Avatar n tn His heart beat is currently at 30s but his blood pressure is quite high. He complained about his chest pain and upper arm pain daily. He has excessive sweat and got fainted once last week. We went to see the doctor, the doctor asked my dad to stop taking METOPROLOL TARTRATE (BETALOC) which he has been taking for a long time. The doctor just said if my dad feels chest pain again, send him to the emergency room. What do you think the issue is?
Avatar f tn I have taken 25 mg Metoprolol XL (tartrate) once a day for over a decade. For me it has been better than other anti-arrhythmics and better than other Beta Blockers (like propanolol) that I tried and I have to say it is the most "comfortable" one for me.

The best suggestion I can give to your friend is to have him/her consult with their physician. The PCP will be in a much better position to recommend which medications will best suit your friend. It is very kind of you to try to help. I wish you both the best of luck.
Avatar f tn I take 25mg of Metoprolol Tartrate and my side effect is very itchiness in the male area. Any suggestions on how to stop the itch?
Avatar m tn I just started taking Metroprolol 25mg twice a day recently for fast heart rate, otherwise in good shape, just always had issues with too fast a pulse. So far it's really helping me a lot! I feel calmer, freer to do activities without worrying my pulse will go crazy, & sleeping better. As an added bonus my once numerous skips and pvcs have drastically reduced.
Avatar n tn I tried 50 mg of Zoloft but had severe nausea and anxiety the first day and stopped it. Now my doctor has prescribed 10 mg. of Paxil but I am hesitant to take it since drug interaction warnings and my pharmacist say it could lower my blood pressure too much. I do not want to return to the emergency room or experience the bad side effects again. Any advice? Is it true that SSRIs and beta blockers are not a wise combination? Is there an SSRI that works well with metoprolol tartrate?
Avatar n tn What are your concerns about using Metoprolol Tartrate? Thye are weight for weigh the same, so if you take 100mg of Metoprolol Succinate once a day, you could quarter a 100mg tablet of Metoprolol Tartrate and just remember to take it four times a day. Of course you'd have a period of time during your sleep cycle where the dose level might decline a bit. I switched to Metoprolol Tartrate years ago when my insurance company raise Toprol to a high tier co-pay.
Avatar m tn Metoprolol comes in two formulations, Metoprolol Tartrate and Metoprolol Succinate. If you were prescribed the Tartrate variety, 50mg, once a day as you stated, then you were on a beta blocker roller coaster with a steep peak followed by a deep valley. Metoprolol has a rather short half life of approximately 6 hours, so in 24 hours, 50mg is nearly completely metabolized. This type should be taken twice a day.
Avatar n tn And that there are dozens, if not hundreds of others, and articles; which are written on the subject, and the association, or side effect of short term memory loss, while using, and apparently even after discontinuing Ambien CR 12.5 tablets! I've been taking Ambien 12.5 MG tablets, or its generic brother, " ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE 12.
Avatar m tn How do you tell if Afib converted on its own or if the medication did the conversion or if the medication was causing the Afib? I have been to the Primary doctor and Emergency room both said I was not in afib currently. Another words, when do you know when to stop taking the medications? In Nov 2013, I have Aortic heart valve replacement and a maze procedure. My old cardiologist wanted to do a cardioversion but I didn't want it, so I had to change Cardiologist.
