Common Questions and Answers about Varenicline receptor

chantix

Avatar f tn You are talking about Chantix (Varenicline tartrate) that should be available worldwide. If not, ask your doctor for other suggestion for quitting smoking.
Avatar f tn Hello, Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban (bupropion) are the only two non-nicotine medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for smoking cessation; both are available in pill form and only by prescription. Chantix received FDA approval in 2006; Zyban was approved in 1997. These drugs can be effective tools, but users need to be aware of some potentially serious side effects. You can try that and they are very cheap in some pharmacy's.
1621167 tn?1299090742 I am trying to understand some of the paperwork Ive been given from the hospital,I live in Germany and have had real problems with the language barrier. My question is regarding Receptor Status, My paperwork says, Oestrogen,Progesterone,c-erbB-2HER-2/neu negative.I understand this gives me the TNBC status, what I dont understand or know anything about is: p53 negative and Proliferation marker Ki67 ; in 50% of the tumour cell nuclei positive (high proliferation activity.
569676 tn?1315641158 and fully occupy the receptor area. The more that one takes, the more the receptor is stimulated, the stronger the drug effect and the more “holes” are created. A partial agonist occupies the receptor site, but only partially stimulates it. After a certain amount of buprenorphine is present adding more makes no difference and therefore taking more has no additional effect. This is called a “ceiling effect”.
Avatar m tn Graves’ disease is considered an antibody-mediated autoimmune disorder. Here, stimulating TSH receptor antibodies (also known as thyroid stimulating immunoglobulins or TSI) react with the TSH receptor protein on thyroid cells, ordering these cells to produce excess thyroid hormone. While the immediate goals in treating Graves’ disease are to reduce thyroid hormone levels and lessen the effects of hyperthyroidism, the long-term goals are to heal the immune system and reduce the production of TSI.
Avatar f tn Suboxone is a partial opiate agonist, so it does not fully stimulate the opiate receptor like a full opatie - although it is much stronger and binds fully to the mu receptor. Full opiates bond to more than one receptor - although the main one is still the same that suboxone works on.
Avatar n tn The Her-2 epidermal growth factor receptor is also present in normal breast cells. In breast cancer cells, this receptor is markedly overexpressed. The laboratory tests for Her-2, whether FISH or IHC, not only detect the presence of the Her-2 receptor, but also quantify if it's overexpressed. Her-2 "positivity" doesn't depend only on the presence of the receptor, but also its quantity.
Avatar f tn Dear Kathy1124, Decisions regarding adjuvant treatment for breast cancer are based on several factors including size of tumor, lymph node status, as well as specific tumor characteristics you mention such as hormone receptor status and HER2 status. If adjuvant therapy is recommended in your situation there are several regimens that might be used. Treatments that would not be used are the hormone therapies that would be used to treat hormone receptive cancers.
Avatar m tn It enhances the effect of GABA by binding to the benzodiazepine site on the GABA A-receptor. After binding to the receptor, may i know what's the next mechanism? GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter? If GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, how does diazepam can cause anti-depress? I heard that it can treat seizure? Seizure is a disease that is over-stimulation, repetitive, uncontrolled neuronal firing in CNS. May I know how does it treat seizure? Thanks.
Avatar f tn also known as ER) is a gene that encodes an estrogen receptor protein, estrogen receptor α (ERα). ... The symbol ER generally refers to ERα. ESR2:Estrogen controls many cellular processes including growth, differentiation and function of the reproductive system. Estrogen is also responsible for the growth and maintenance of the skeleton and the normal function of the cardiovascular and nervous systems.
Avatar f tn Both Suboxone and Tramadol are active at the mu receptor on the brain. Since Suboxone has a very high affinity for this receptor, it would already have the receptor full and I doubt that Tramadol would kick it out. The chances of going into withdrawal are very high. My advice would be not to mix the two, but check with your doctor before you make a decision.
Avatar n tn Hi. The estrogen receptor status of tumors can change over time. A mass of breast cancer is actually composed of a mixed population of cancer cells. Some cells are strongly ER positive, some only mildly so, and some are even ER negative (do not contain estrogen receptors). When exposed to an aromatase inhibitor like letrozole, those cells which are strongly ER positive are very susceptible to the effects of this drug and either die off or stop multiplying.
585414 tn?1288941302 The NMDA receptor modulates are a class of antipsychotic in Phase II FDA study. Glycine is one of these compounds. I am on glycine under strict clinical supervision because I was unable to tolerate all known antipsychotics and have advanced tardive dyskinesia. For more information on glycine google "Dr. Javitt, glycine". Glycine is not FDA approved so this discussion is for informational purposes only.
Avatar n tn Handsfield, From my extremely basic knowledge of how the human immunodeficiency virus actually works, I understand it has receptor-binding proteins that attach to specific types of human white blood cells, in order to 'get into the cell' and do what it does (so to speak) to replicate. Do these specific types of cells exist within the 5 layers of the human epidermis?
Avatar f tn ductal, lobular invasive and insitu. Her2neg., estrogen+,est. and prog. receptor assay 80% positive cells. Does this mean 20% of my cancer can be fed by something else than estrogen? On femara, so does this mean femara is only helping the 80% and the 20% is not being addressed. Only was addressed through ACT .
Avatar f tn 1. Here is some information that may clarify the consideration of using hormonal treatment even when the receptor status is not "officially positive:" "Hormone-negative cancer will respond to other kinds of treatment, and hormone-suppression may not be needed. Positive vs. Negative Estrogen Status: A score of Estrogen Receptor positive (ER+) means that estrogen is causing your tumor to grow, and that the cancer should respond well to hormone suppression treatments.
Avatar m tn estrogen receptor,,92%,,progesterone receptor,,20%,,,ki-67,,30 %,,her-2/neu,,4.0 ( overexpression). On thursday I"m scheduled for a lumpectomy and I"d like to understand this report as I"m very scared right now and confused.
Avatar f tn The way I understand it is the way that suboxone binds to the mu receptor. It has such a high affinity for the receptor that it will block other opiates from binding, which is why other opiates are blocked while on suboxone. I do know that their are other opiate receptors, but I believe that the mu receptor is also the one that is bound more with other opiates as well.
492898 tn?1222243598 A breast cancer is said to be hormone receptor positive if shows evidence of estrogen or progesterone receptors (cell components that will bind to these female hormone molecules to bring about changes with in the cell). Laboratory tests are performed after surgery or biopsy to determine if the breast cancer cells are hormone receptor positive.
466909 tn?1207568232 An agonist is an agent that binds to a receptor and activates that receptor in order to elicit an effect (typically transmitting a signal to the inside of the cell, either by opening a channel to allow ions to flow in/out, or changing the receptor's shape to cause a cascade of intracellular events to occur).
