Avatar m tn Since a doctor needs to prescribe either, then ask your prescribing physician. Don't do online pharmacies for this though as they are often not legit or reliable. Go to a regular pharmacy to get it.
Avatar n tn The PDE5 inhibitors sildenafil, vardenafil and tadalafil are competitive and reversible inhibitors of cGMP hydrolysis by the catalytic side of PDE5.
1124887 tn?1313754891 1. Does the increased QT dispersion have any significance? Could 200 mg Zoloft be to blame? 2. Why do you think my signs of LVH are gone? My EKG was normal. I've always had slightly wide QRS complexes (100-ish msec) but no bundle branch blocks, so I guess this haven't got any significance. All other intervals and waveforms are normal. Thank you in advance.
Avatar m tn In general, the newer antidepressants (SSRI and SNRI) do not prolong QT interval so much. A possible exception is citalopram (and escitalopram). As far as I know, paroxetine and vortioxetine are fairly safe. How long is your QT interval?
Avatar f tn In regards to shortening the QT, Flecainide has been shown to shorten the QTc in Type 3 long QT syndrome though not in the other types of long QT. Flecainide can actually lengthen to QT some patients. I would recommend that you discuss these questions with your electrophysiologist. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I was wondering where the best place for me would be to find a complete list of medicines I should stay away from with Long QT syndrome. I have a list but it is over 5 years old, and I am in need of a new one! Thank You!
Avatar f tn Best of luck, but I would avoid your daughter taking cold and allergy meds since she already has a borderline long qt.
Avatar f tn I am suffering from depression but I have Long Qt and am obese , diabetic and have svt's my GP has been unable to find any medication that is suitable - do you have any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Erythromycin and Cipro are both on the QT drug list that can cause prolongation of the QT interval on an ECG and can cause the arrhythmia Torsades de pointe. This is usually worse for patients with Long QT Syndrome or for people taking anti arrhythmic drugs or other drugs also on the QT Drug list. Check it out at www.****.org.
20794198 tn?1534529493 On some of my old ecgs, I did see one of them at 66bpm and it spat out a QT of 368ms and a QTc of 385ms. Following that was one with a rate of 85bpm and it spat out a QT of 342ms and a QTc of 406ms ?? I must be reading them wrong perhaps? I did already have a stress test in 2015 on a treadmill @ 201bpm and the e.p said everything was fine.
Avatar f tn Spicy foods and foods that cause acid reflux. Becoming dehydrated and over extending self working out. and stress and anxiety. Many people have PVCs daily some a lot more than you are experiencing so they can be lived with. PVCs can be very scary but they are generally benign in an otherwise healthy heart. I would suspect if you stay heart healthy you need not worry even with long qt but in life there are no guarantees.
Avatar m tn I have had my Primary care physcian consult a cardiologist and preformed a holter and echo-both normal and they are not concerned about Long QT. My ER doctor was not concerned about Long QT as his assumption was that it was cause by low potassium. I had even sent my EKGs to a arrythmia specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester to see if they thought I needed an appointment and they did not feel I needed an appointment given I have no family history of fainting or sudden death.
Avatar f tn t damage heart muscle as the LV EF is normal. A heart attack (MI) damages heart muscle and as a result heart wall movement is impaired and unable to squeeze out a sufficient supply of blood...Present EF and heart attack is inconsistent with each other?!.
Avatar n tn I have sick sinus syndrome with afib. and bradycardia. I take flecainide 150mg twice a day. Any time that I need an antibiotics doctors, other than my cardiologist, struggle to find one that isn't countraindicated.
Avatar m tn I have found a substantial amount of literature online that discusses how using azithromycin with QT prolonging drugs or other rhythm regulators can increase the QT interval and cause dysrhythmia. This relative was in the hospital before and after surgery due to rhythm problems. It took a while to adjust exercise and meds to balance everything out. More than any other antiobiotic I read up on, azithromycin seems to have the most solid arguments against using it with drugs like amiodarone.
Avatar m tn Although rare, Viagra (sildenafil), Cialis (tadalafil) and Levitra (vardenafil) can cause muscle pain and unusual skin sensations or paresthesia. In clinical studies, Viagra caused muscle pain and paresthesia in less than 2% of patients. Patients who experience these side effects should stop taking the medication and consult their physician. These medications increase blood flow to the penis by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5).
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply. If it changes anything, I have also found an earlier EKG with a ventricular rate of 96 and QT (uncorrected) 326. Shouldn't my uncorrected QT be lower, or does it stop decreasing with increased heart rate like this? Sorry for disturbing you with such questions, but my anxiety sometimes gets the best out of me...
Avatar n tn Yes, a well known side effect of the majority of SSRI''s is that they can prolong the QT interval. This does not mean that they will and "prolonging" the QT interval is not the same thing as having a "prolonged QT interval".
Avatar f tn In 2003 I had an ICD placed b/c of family history and a very long QT interval. I have had it since then and it has not recorded any episode or delivered any appropriate therapy. When it was placed, it perforated my heart, and had to be replaced 2 days later. In 2005, the battery was recalled, and it was replaced again. A month ago, it delivered an inappropriate shock b/c the lead is fractured somewhere. It is now turned off. I was placed on a beta-blocker.
Avatar f tn If your QT was 448 msec and your QTc was 488 msec, your heart rate was 71 (and the anxiety was obviously not that bad). I didn't know anxiety could prolong the QT interval (in my case it shortens it) at my EKG with high anxiety and fairly low heart rate (which is uploaded on my profile) my QT was 330 msec and QTc 358 msec, but I guess people are different. A slightly long QT doesn't mean you have LQTS, which is often seen on EKG as specific changes in addition to the prolonged QT.
1425157 tn?1311651679 Hi,I have a history of pvc and pac i take atenolol 50 mg a day for this,no high blood pressure ,,i have had many ecg and a few holters and an echo,,and an av node signal average test,,no one has ever mentioned a long qt interval before -i am haveing gall bladder surgery soon and as a precaution they sent me to internist who ordered this last holter, saw clinic doc today for results he said it showed a long qt interval and he did and ecg then and there- no long qt on that one -i was haveing an an
Avatar f tn -- Long QT syndrome is a genetic mutation in one of several ion channels in the heart muscle, which leads to prolonged QT and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death (ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation). This is a rare inherited disorder which most likely had affected other family members.
Avatar m tn Could you please help me try and understand the EKG readings? The QRS, QT/QTC, and PRT, are they within limits / normal? If they are out of limits, how far out? I understand that you are not a doctor and your opinion is just that. Please help me educate myself. Can you recommend any good websites to help educate me?
Avatar n tn my daughter had 2 ekgs and showed a QT interval of 468 with a heart rate of 68. Obviously this is a prolonged qt, but what are the odds that it is Long QT syndrome? If it isn't, what is it???? I can't find any answers. I do know that it is considered a borderline QT interval until it hits 470. If she doesn't get diagnosed with long qt syndrome (cardiology appointment is next week) Does it just mean that she has a long qt interval and nothing else?
