After thinking about it around 12 hours later I realized I was at risk for infection. I took 1500 MG of Valtrex and will continue with 1000MG twice a day for a few more days. It makes some sense that the Valtrex could interfere with the HSV1 virus spreading from the initial infection sight to the nerves if you have Valtrex in your system prior to of soon after an initial exposure. Does anyone have any insight?

I take valtrex to prevent cold sores, recently had an HIV test. Given its an anti-viral medication, I was wondering if it would have any impact on the results. I know for anti-biotic they tackle all basically tackle any bacterial infection.
Also I have read that you should wait 3 months to be tested. Which I will do but what is the accuracy of a test after 5 weeks ?
Your suspicions are correct with the Augmentin. If you have a viral infection, it will do nothing for it. Here's the problem. If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.
are you taking valtrex or acyclovir?
Are you taking acyclovir 400mg 2x/day or just 800mg once a day?
There is not cure for HSV2.... Antivirals (Valtrex, Zovirax, Acyclovir,etc) treat the herpes infection by reducing the numbers of genital herpes outbreaks.
Now, did you mean VRL DX (aka Viral Detox)? As far as I know this drug has not been evaluated by the US FDA. To my knowledge, it is about 300.00 US Dollars available on the market without prescription. I don't know if any Dermatologist or Infection Disease doctor would recommend such a drug. Be careful with the scams.
ve also read that viral shedding is quite small for oral HSV-2 since its not in the area it wants to be. I've also read that viral shedding is most prominent in the first 2 years of infection. If I wait 2 years before performing oral sex, and take valtrex daily, how likely would oral to genital transmission be? I don't want to put anyone at risk.
I'm pretty sure I understand what you are asking now but I think you still aren't understanding why I'm saying what I am saying. 20 years ago a visual diagnosis usually wasn't followed up on with testing. If it was, it usually wasn't typed because it was still assumed that it was hsv2 if it was genital.
I have not had any outbreaks at all, I occasionally have burning and itching, but beyond that nothing else. I have been on supressive therapy w/ Valtrex since the end of may. I have had pain on lower right abdomen, under my ribcage it feels, and pain on my right lower back. Is this a symptom of Herpes, or can this be a reaction to the Valtrex?
He gave me a prescription for famvir, and told me to use it when I had a genital herpes episode for five to seven days. He said It was not neccesary to be on valtrex for a month or three months as the infectuos diseases doctor said. He also wants me to tell him if with famvir I experience the same side effects.

Two part question, if you don't mind What's the absolute risk of acquiring HPV per sexual episode if someone is on suppressive therapy and we use a condom and what if I were also to take Valtrex for a few days prior and after our encounters? I assume that would reduce the risk even further. Oooops, one more thing.
I got diagnosed almost a month ago with hsv2 I was so emotional and felt so gross. Since then I’ve come to terms with it. I was prescribed valtrex to take daily. The past two weeks I stopped taken it. Today I woke up and had an outbreak. My question is how often do you get outbreaks after the first initial one?? And what do I do to make them stop and go away!
OK. So its been nearly 2 months since I've been diagnosed with this inconvenience. Since I never had a "noticeable outbreak", every little itch or tingling that I get spooks me (The reason why I say that is because the time I had sex with my ex, I did have some tingling and 5 days later he had small blisters on his penis, so I know he contracted it from me).
Three years ago I was diagnosed with HSV but not type specific. I had a piece of my skin with the infection cut off and sent to be tested and the results were "Compatible with herpes simplex/varicella zoster viral infection." I lived 2 years with no break outs and also taking Valtrex suppressive therapy then got tested again with an IGG test and my results were HSV 1 - 0.07 and HSV 2 - 0.73 (<0.90 being negative). A year later I got tested again and my results were HSV 1 - 0.
Dr.- I had protected sex with stripper and the day after i noticed a burn at the tip of my penis not when i peed. I had the burn for about 4 days it went away. It came back 3 days later, my doctor gave me lavaquin for 3 days it did nothing. At the end of 3 days i had a red rash on my foreskin, now i remember seeing this rash before the incident and the day after the incident. I quickly put alcohol on it and it turned red so i put neosporene on it and the next day it was not red anymore.
