If she has no income or insurance, she should be able to get her insulin from the manufacturers. I'm pretty sure that Sanofi Aventis (maker of Lantus) participates, as well as Novo. You have to apply directly to each company that carries the drug you need.
Check and see if the strips manufacturers have programs. Some of them do. What type of meter does she use?
If you believe your are reacting badly to Lantus (or any other medications) you should ask your physician for an alternative, at least to verify it is the medication and not some other factor that is causing the problem. Lantus is popular for it's 24 hour action, but so is Levemir (Novo Nordisk). NPH insulin can also be used for long acting insulin, though two injections may be needed to get the 24 hour coverage.
Also Novo-Nordisk has a program that takes $25 off your copay of Victoza. Mine initial cost was $92 for 3 pens ( a 1.5 month supply). It dropped to $68 with this program. Better yet, I shopped pharmacys and found that when I switched from Walgreens to CVS i will actually only pay $48/1.5 months due to CVS's lower pricing. Check the Victoza website. They have a few programs to help people with the cost of this medication. Hope this helps!

When Vagifem or Estrace is prescribed for a post menopausal woman with a uterus, should a progestin always be prescribed as well? I've been taking Vagifem for 2 years without a progestin, and now I have to undergo an endometrial biopsy because of some buildup of the lining of my uterus (I have no bleeding....it showed up on an TV ultrasound...small changes and endometrial thickness of 5mm).
I have recently been started on Vagifem and in the last 3 days have had copiou amounts of greenish watery vaginal discharge. Should I be concerned it is very annoying.
I have been prescribed 2x daily Vagifem tablets as part of a fertility treatment with Clomid. I have been told that should I fall pregnant I would have to continue this treatment for 6 further weeks (~8 weeks treatment with Vagifem in total).

m 34 and after a recent visit to a gyno she prescribed me vagifem suppositories and betnovate cream. I am not menopausol or anything. Has anyone anything good to say about Vagifem [Estradiol hemihydrate]. I have used it for only a week and have had bad headaches, plus terrible pains in my womb. Also pins and needles down my left arm, and even my teeth are feeling very sensitive. I can't believe this is doing me any good. All replies will be welcome.
The doctor now thinks it is vaginal atrophy, and I have been given vagifem tablets. Every day for 2 weeks, followed by twice a week. I still have the vaginal discharge , except it is no longer yellowish green, it is white or clear or slightly yellowish.

Has anyone else suffered the dreaded Vaginal Atrophy. Have been prescribed Vagifem which is helping a little. Main problem for me is burning after urination. Don't like using the prescribed betnovate cream too often as this burns. Now trying the yes products. Some days I seem much better and then the next day it returns with avengeance. Sitting at School working with children is not ideal and aggravates it even more.
What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell. I have had a pessary in for around a year to hold it but it is getting so hard to have a BM. I want this rectocele repair to be the last surgery!

Your tissues are so dry that they cut and bleed with any friction. Luckily, there is a remedy. A vaginal estrogen pill (Vagifem) or cream (Premarin) can be inserted into the vagina on a regular basis and it will help rebuild the tissue and prevent this type of dryness. I personally prefer Vagifem because it is less messy and each comes in its own applicator. You will still need to use something like Astroglide duirng intercourse to have even better results.
