Avatar n tn I was addicted to hydrocodone for four years. Up to 13 or so 10 mg pills a day. Then I stared feeling better by day three. Physical part was finished day four. Emotionally, it took me thirty days to feel myself. So, given it's s different drug now(tussionex) and not four years but three months. What am I looking at withdrawal wise? Days? Symptoms?
Avatar n tn my dosage is 60 to 90 ml per day, making my total daily sustained-release hydrocodone consumption from 120 to 180 mg. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar n tn you will get alot of differing views on "how many" hydrocodone are enough. It's tough because if you're an addict one is good, two is better, then pretty soon you're up to a lovely 25/day. If you cannot tolerate the pain without narcs you should set a limit of how many you will take daily......not more than 4,5,6. You will still have withdrawals even from these low numbers, but mixed with antiinflamatories(from your doc.) you should be able to get substantial relief.
Avatar n tn Five months afer her surgery, soma was cut out of her medication as she began experiencing nausea and vomiting. At present, she takes 350 mg of vicodin three to four times per day, yet continues to complain of excruciating pain in her neck, (worse than the initial pain following her surgery). She is listless, defensive and agitated, but occasionally shows bursts of energy.
Avatar m tn Each teaspoonful Tussionex contains hydrocodone polistirex equivalent to 10 mg hydrocodone bitartrate and chlorpheniramine polistirex equivalent to 8 mg chlorpheniramine maleate. Unfortunately I don't know what those things are. I did get about 15 pills labeled Hydrocodone/Homatropine, which is apparently a generic for Hydrodan. It had about the same effect as Tussionex, although not quite as good. Maybe those pills were only 7.5 mg of hydrocodone, rather than 10.
Avatar n tn So if you have any left and you take it for your taper make sure you take the amount you want Each teaspoonful (5 ml) of TUSSIONEX Pennkinetic Extended-Release Suspension contains hydrocodone polistirex equivalent to 10 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate and chlorpheniramine polistirex equivalent to 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate.TUSSIONEX Pennkinetic Extended-Release Suspension provides up to 12-hour relief per dose. Avatar n tn I've been taking hydrocodone for the past five years, and at maximum prescribed levels (1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours - - which, naturally, means 2 every 4 hours) for the past two. How do I get off this stuff? Cold turkey? Phased withdrawal?
Avatar n tn You should ask your pharmacist. I don't know how much hydrocodone Tussionex has in it, but I wouldn't take both of them. Both medications contain hydrocodone, which you probably already know. That is a very strong narcotic and not one you want to OD on. You can take as much as 10 mg of hydrocodone at a time. That could leave yoy feeling quite out of it though if it is too much for your system. I would probably wait 6 hours from the lortab to take the tussionex. Feel better. God bless.
Avatar m tn There are few medications with hydrocodone and an antihistamine. One is what I take, Tussionex- 12 hr. ext. release hydrocodone with chlorpheniramine(same antihistamine that dimmetapp uses). Anyhow, the reason you are having shortness of breath is that you have opiate receptors throughout your cardiopulmonary system. Opiates have traditionally been very good for cough because they slow and or paralyze the lung muscles that contract to make you cough and help dry out mucous secretions.
Avatar n tn thanks alot . so hydro more addictive then codiene right, the withdrawl would be worse then says comming o o codiene . Its been 5 years and the codiene still works and thats everyday sort o anazing really you'd thinbk my tolerence would be way up there could it be I never take more then 4 30 mg tabs o codiene. per day I'm pretty militant about that. hydro doesn't really eel the same as codiene to me. I get thenm prescribed my doc doesn't seem too worried should I be.
Avatar f tn hydrocodone polisterix and chlorpheniramine-anti-histamine) for about a year, but been taking it over 8 years. I've been on xanax 3 years, been dependent 2 years. I like being here cause it's like having the best of both worlds. I get to do what I love to do most but in an uncontrolled environment, without all the protocol and liability, and "our hour is up, we'll have to talk more about this next week", "but I can't wait until net week", "Dr.
Avatar f tn Then, if you are taking (for example 10mg per day) then the next week go down to about 8 mg per day for the next week and so on. Pills can be broken into halves, fourths, eighths, etc. They can even be shaved down to very minute amounts so you can take a fraction of a mg. You just want to make sure you taper slowly and very, very slowly toward the end.
Avatar f tn C, just make sure you get to your doctor to ask about more pure forms of hydrocodone. For instance, I take tussionex, whick is a 12 hour extended release of hydrocodone polistirix and an antihistamine that is most commonly prescrobed for cough, cold and flu and upper respiratory symptoms.
Avatar n tn and i am very aware that it has become a addiction considering it started with lke 4 teaspoons a day of tussionex and ive been taking klodipin fo over 6 years will this effect my withhdrawl from the hycodan and tussionex and the hydrocodone pills is promethazine affective i have bunch of 25 mg pill he never game me the liquid prometh with codiene is that what i should ask for what is a good way to go about this
Avatar n tn About the Hycotuss, it sounds something like Tussionex which is a hydrocodone laced cough syrup. I've had it for bronchitis and pnuemonia is the past and it is pretty powerful stuff. I made the mistake of drinking the whole bottle in one day and WOW! Are you taking it now?
Avatar n tn Hydrocodone is the active ingredient found in Vicodin, Lorcet/lortabs, tussionex, vicodin tuss etc. oxycontin is a time release percocet.
Avatar f tn So does that mean if I take 20 of the vic 750es Im taking 150 mg of Hydrocodone? I dont mean to sound stupid.....I just want to know how bad my situation is. I know addiction is bad no matter what but would that be concidered very high??Thank you all so much for the information and support. Im still terrified but you are making me feel like tomorrow (my day 1) will be "surviveable"....And I can do it because I have you all to help me through it.
Avatar n tn On December 8,2005 I was doing a show in Virgina and saw a local doctor there. She gave me Tussionex and within the hour of the first dosage the drainage stopped. The next week was wonderful as I was even able to cough up stuff for the first time in a long time. I have tried the 8 mg dosage of Chlorpheniramine but it doesn't work. I have taken hydrocodone before with dental problems and I know that after taking it I get the itch in the nose for about five minutes.
Avatar n tn Or oxycontin would be better since it has a 24 hr extended release one pill lasts a full 24hrs. My cough syrup that I take mostly for my sinuses is called tussionex. It's liquid hydrocodone with a little chlorpheniramine(antihistamine) One teaspoon lasts 12 hours and has 5mg hydrocodone NO TYLENOL! And there's a big difference in the way that liquids make you feel vs. pills. And many people do not have a good reaction to the combination of tylelon and hydrocodonr together.
Avatar n tn Tussionex has hydrocodone in it. Taking tussionex is just like taking lorcet or lortab with 10mg of hydro. The difference is that tussionex is a much nicer buzz. It is longer lasting and has what is called resins of hydrocodone in it. Whatever, no less addicting.
Avatar n tn Oxycodone is something different, it is used in percocet along with tylenol, oxy is stronger, usually more addictive, and oten much harder to get off of than hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is more potent than codeine, oxycodone is more potent than hydrocodone. The internet sites I have no idea I have always gotten prescriptions and my husband and I are doctors I would not feel comfortable, but plenty of people on here should know.

Schedule III Deletions: Hydrocodone (dihydrocodeinone) (Vicodin®, Lortab®, Tussionex®) This action renders all products containing hydrocodone, including but not limited to hydrocodone in combination with acetaminophen or ibuprofen, Schedule II.
Avatar n tn My concern is that I have had to increase my dosage from 10 to 20 MG of the Xr. I am a recovering alcoholic, and have been sober for 11 months. I am a little concerned about using this, but I also don't feel that I am abusing the drug. I also was wondering if anyone knows what the difference between Adderall and Provigil are. My medical insurance won't cover the Adderall but will cover Provigil and I'm wondering if one or the other is better.
Avatar n tn Over the following five years, I slowly titrated down from 120 mg. daily to 5 mg., three times weekly. I suffered no physical withdrawals and only minor psychological stress. Cannabis, occasionally, helped me through this anxiety. Finally, after all this time, I felt that I was at a point where I could safely stop taking narcotics and did so abruptly. The first five days were met with absolutely no problems, what so ever.
Avatar n tn and delsym cough syrup is the **** as far as cough syrup goes, it does work great so that was a great suggestion, forgot about that one! that explain why it tastes so much like tussionex, minus the nasty little addition of hydrocodone! i have still been having using dreams... if i ever get to post a question here LOL, i would ask the doc about that but it is really not that big of a deal, more of a curiosity!
Avatar n tn I had a pretty bad addiction to hydrocodone and Tussionex for 2 years. I decided in March after some legal troubles to go CT. I was in hell for 10 days and then still didnt feel quite normal for months afterwards. Then I found myself in a situation where I needed emergency surgery and could not avoid pain meds again. So here I am once again CT for the last 3 days after restaring the opiates for 1 month. My W/D are worse this time then before. Can anyone tell me why its worse this time?
Avatar n tn Yeah tom - how'd you swing the oxy's with a nervous doc? Black market huh? Those are something that I'll never get from my doc...can't afford black market - at all, but would love to try. I got ahold of some Tussionex after reading about it on this board.(This board is a catalyst...check out barbara now!) Drank 1.5 ounces, laid down and just closed my eyes. Had conversations while laying there, eyes closed, just as happy as can be. I swung it due to the fact that I needed it.
Avatar n tn That is the ambrosia of Schedule III! Tussionex is hydrocodone delivered in a resin complex that breaks down constantly over 8 or more hours like having a built-in morphine drip. I'd rather have that stuff than Oxy. Anyway, everything you've read about Vicodin withdrawal applies to you. It's not surprising that you've got the runs. You're lucky, though, if that's your biggest problem. At least you can take care of that with an OTC med. BTW, how much Imodium did you take?
