Trigeminal neuralgia may be caused by
multiple sclerosis and pressure on the
trigeminal nerve from a swollen blood vessel or tumor. one may have very painful, sharp electric like spasms that lasts for few seconds to minutes, pain on one side of the face, often around the eye, cheek and lower part of face, triggered by everyday activities like chewing, eating, light touching face etc. tests done are blood tests, MRI head and trigeminal reflex testing.
