252327 tn?1250183976 Tricor is a cholestol lowering drug, nothing to do with insurance
Avatar n tn Its particularly worse combined with tricor. The pain actually feels like its in my bones at the joints. I have taken tricor for almost 20 years and I just started having this problem about 6-8 months ago. The pain in the morning makes me feel like I am 100 and my body is betraying me! This is what I noticed that changed. I initially started off on the brand name fenofibrate, Tricor - had no problems. Then they added Crestor(name brand) because that was the only people that made it.
Avatar m tn Wow, I wasn't aware of Tricor causing elevation of blood sugar. Seems I need to research Tricor a bit more.
Avatar n tn In addition to that of course I have to take a statin and Tricor. Good news is that Tricor will have a generic out in May. I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon. And as Flycaster has stated, with the Niacin there is a flushing feeling also. It only bothered me if I didn't take an aspirin just before taking the niacin. My doctor told me about that.
745393 tn?1345077196 I have tried a lot of meds for this condition, have taken advicor, lipitor, crestor, zetia, tricor, provastatin, niaspan, gemfibronil. I have been on lovaza (omega 3,and 6 ) for the pass five months, but as you can see it has not helped very much. Heart doctor says I have taken the limit. All of these choles meds causes me to ache in my muscles very very bad, and dr. says this could be a serious situation. I need to know from someone please what can I take now ?. I need very bad to be on some med.
Avatar n tn High cholesterol runs in my family so even with diet and exercise my numbers are still a little high. I started getting heart palpitations a few years ago and after a lot of testing was told they were harmless PVC's/PAC's. Well, I stoped taking my Tricor and Zocor for a few months and my heart palps were gone. The problem is that my cholesterol numbers went back up. I started back on the statins and low and behold the palps returned.
237039 tn?1264258057 I had always said no to statins in the past because I had infectious hepatitis (not any type C, caught it from my younger brother) as a child and feared I had liver damage from that. But when the doctor called after that test I decided I would try Tricor. (fenofibrate I think is what it is) I took it for a month, then stopped, then again a month later took it for a month. Then stopped again. My brother jumped all over me this year and is forcing me to take it.
822804 tn?1298226302 Have they suggested taking a statin? My trigs are actually over 2100. I take Tricor to keep these down.

Avatar m tn It is absolutely true. Links are not allowed or I would post a few, but Google "Statins and Surgery" and you'll see that many doctors are prescribing statins before and after many major surgeries due to their anti-inflammatory properties. Also, statins are being shown to help patients recover from pneumonia as well. They are finding new benefits from statins just about everyday it seems. Again, google and read for yourself, interesting information.
Avatar f tn My brother and I both have this and it is totally under control with meds for both of us. My triglycerides were over 2100 before I started taking Tricor. My brother takes Tricor and Lovastatin. Both of us now have normal readings.
Avatar n tn The drug is actively promoted to physicians with a thorough and well thought-out marketing program. Most "modern" physicians are pill pushers. This business of having an "unacceptable" LDL is a matter of controversey. The thing to remember is that "mother nature never does nuthin' for nuthin' ", as a physician friend used to say.
Avatar n tn Six years ago my husband had a stent placed at the top of the LAD, he had restenosis in 6 months, they did radiation therapy and placed 2 more stents. 6 monhs later he had another stent and then in a month 2 two more. A couple of them they said artery was 60 or 70% but while they were in there they decided to stent it in one place he was having spasms. The last 2 were des.
Avatar f tn i take tricor for my trigs they were over 600 got them down to 137 in 6 weeks i had no side affects
Avatar f tn The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.
782988 tn?1242685985 Can you add Tricor That is on of my meds for Cholesterol
Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.
Avatar n tn called my cardio dr next day he said same thing happen to him, i dont like that drug.
Avatar f tn My Tryglecerides are reading 300 and my cholesterol is over 200, I'm on 145 mg of Tricor and my prescription went up from 20 mg. to 40 mgs of Crestor; I was wondering what the possible side effects of taking these two everyday are. If someone would please write me and let me know. I would truly appreciate it.
Avatar m tn Yes, dehydration causes a higher creatinine reading.
237039 tn?1264258057 t able to place the drug eluding type in the major block though. The left side has some blaockages at 50%. Both carotids are 60% - 75% blocked and will need stenting soon. Maybe may or June. Iliac is bocked again...............My trigs are still over 900 because I never got into the habit of taking my Tricor and Pravastatin. I need to take that every day along with Plavix.
Avatar n tn The info sheet that came with the drug does say not to eat for 30-60 minutes. My question is about coffee with NO cream & sugar. Do I have to wait 30-60 minutes to drink that. It is what I crave when I wake up. The food can wait!
Avatar f tn My husband resisted his suggestion of doing a cath, so he was given a prescription for Tricor 145mg. The doctor drew a diagram of the procedure that was used and in the area where there is apparently blockage a T was used to do 2 bypasses. The cardiologist seemed concerned that a stent may be difficult or impossible to place there. My questions are: 1: How can blockage occur so soon after surgery and should we expect more of the same in the near future?
Avatar f tn I did even more research and figured out that I was prescribed Tricor about a month and 1/2 ago. I looked up Tricor's side effects and it seems that there can be a GERD type reaction and one commenter even said they had to go to the ER with chest pains. I stopped taking the Tricor and my GERD symptoms have much improved. I began generic prilosec and it didn't seem to help me. But stopping the Tricor has. My breathing has improved.
