Common Questions and Answers about Tricor and muscle weakness

tricor

Avatar n tn After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
Avatar m tn My doctor just started me on Tricor and my blood sugar levels have gone up as well. Prior to being on Tricor, my fasting blood sugar has always been between 89 and 101. Now they range from 119 to 125. Any thoughts on alternative medications to lower high tryglicerides?
Avatar n tn After a while on Tricor alone, I found out by trial and error that I had to stop Tricor for a couple of weeks to be able to walk around without general muscle aches and fatigue, or "flu-like symptoms, and then I would take it for 8 - 10 days and have to stop again. Bottom line is that I can no longer tolerate Tricor, which drastically lowered my triglycerides from over 2000 to around 1000. Diet changes after a heart attack and stroke keep my triglycerides around 700.
Avatar n tn Jack, same here. My TG level is 1900 but with tricor my level now is about 500, which is still quite high. I am not sure what to do now as I cant bring it down further. I am taking statin for my high cholesterol also. And I am feeling fatigue always and weakness in my legs. I used to play football but now, I feel really tired when running. I hope someone can help recommending what to take to reduce my Tg and cholesterol further.
237039 tn?1264258057 t think there would be any correlation between taking the Tricor and vasospams. Is it just coincidence and the fact that they have subsided is because of my diet and exercise? Or is it possible that there is somthing about the Tricor that has stopped them? Anyone know?

252327 tn?1250183976 Hey everyone, are any of you on synthroid and on Tricor? If you have been reading my posts you will have seen that I have been having problems with shortness of breath and palputations, Thinking it was my synthroid I started adjusting my dose. Then I did have a slight problem with peanut allergies. After not eating peanuts, the breathing problems and palputations continued. Last night I looked up the side effects of tricor ( I started them mid December) by Christmas the problems started.
Avatar m tn Hi iam 30 a week ago my body stated twiching and muscle weakness had MRI blood drawn nothing what is happening but a week ago I was strong no symptoms than this what is this please help
Avatar f tn The short answer is that all of the above - hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or other can all cause muscle weakness. Muscle weakness in the muscles you are talking about feeling weakness in, like from pushups (triceps, deltoids, maybe biceps and trapezius) are associated with hypo and hyperthyroidism though, so I think you're on the right track to look in to your thyroid hormone level as a cause, but I can't say it is definitely one of those, or which one it is.
Avatar m tn I have been having intermittement muscle weakness and joint pain for about 2 months now. Have had a spinal tap (negative) and two MRIs - some lesions seen but neuro says they are "insignificant". MS has been ruled out. The only blood tests that have come back abnormal are for active epstein-barr, vitamin d deficiency (level is 10), thyroid underactive and cortisol underactive. I am extremely exhausted and anxious alot of the time.
5759924 tn?1374704061 Been looking for answers for over a year now as to why my muscle weakness has not subsided. My muscle weakness is generalized, my arms, legs, neck, and back. First noticed the weakness when I was washing my hair in the shower, I could barely hold my arms up without feeling over exerted. It all started with lymph node swelling in the left posterior and supraclavicular regions in my neck. The swelling lasted for 5 months so my ENT had one biopsied.
Avatar f tn oops --- I meant to delete "Both" before I hit the send button. Didn't happen obviously... LOL !

Avatar m tn I keep checking my sugar levels before and after I eat to see if there is any significant difference and spikes. The weakness after eating comes and goes for me, but when it does happen it is like you just want to go to sleep..
1523516 tn?1330044257 s my body is still lean and athletic looking, like its always been BUT the signals my brain sends to my muscles are erratic, so a signal to the muscle could one minute be constantly firing and the muscle will spasm or the opposite of that and not get any signal at all so the muscle is not aware its needed and doesn't respond as you expect it too.
4544656 tn?1371593548 from all the information I have read, muscle weakness and hypothyroid are linked and one dr said a lot of fibromyalgia patients were misdiagnosed by not threating the underlying cause, thyroid. Yes I do think if my medication was higher, the muscle pains would have went away. I only became recently aware that my plantar fascitus, joint aches etc was linked to undermedication of thyroid for over a year.
791814 tn?1236891100 Hello everyone, for the past 8 years or so I have been having muscle strength issues and it's getting worse and affecting more parts of my body. Here are some of those issues. Having issues with arm strength, and hand strength. It's hard to hold my arms out or carry heavy items. My hands are really bad, I have a hard time grasping things and typing. All of which includes pain. Now my jaw is having a hard time opening and my tongue is having movement issues with pain.
877337 tn?1249844450 I've read that the thyroid can effect the muscle, giving weakness. My questions are these: Can the thyroid affect the hand? For instance, if I am doing a repetitive movement or holding something for a long moment, would the cramp I am experiencing be related to the thyroid situation? Yes, this has happened in the past but more so or quicker recently.
Avatar n tn The doctor will assess the strength and the muscle, the muscle itself and ask about activity levels. Lisa alludes to multiple reasons and she's so right - it really can be a combo platter (w/out the shrimp, lol).

Avatar n tn When I first came on this forum, I had terrible muscle pain, members here advised the Vitamin D and Mag. and it worked like a charm. Be sure to get "Glycinate" two other Magnesiums that are available do nothing for you and may have a laxative effect.
822804 tn?1298226302 Have they suggested taking a statin? My trigs are actually over 2100. I take Tricor to keep these down.
572651 tn?1530999357 aspx Weakness of the ventilatory muscles can begin early in the disease In MS, the most common cause of respiratory problems is loss of muscle strength and endurance. Just as a person can experience muscle weakness in the arms or legs, weakness can occur in the ventilatory muscles of the chest and abdomen that are involved in breathing.
Avatar m tn I had lower back fusion 4 1/2 months ago which cured the pain but not the weakness. My weakness seems to be progressing significantly and quickly along with the muscle twitching. I've read that the twitching can be caused by anxiety but I don't think progressive weakness is. I'm scared I have ALS because all the early signs are there. I have an appointment with my neurologist next week. What alarms me the most is the rapidity with which the symptoms are progressing.
Avatar n tn I am 38 years old and for the past two weeks have been unable to do my normal daily activities due to muscle weakness, fatigue and burning. I have better days, but the bad ones are really bad. I have muscle twitching all over, too. In legs and arms. When I work out (which is nothing like I used to do - I look like an old lady) it gets much worse. I have a daughter on the autism spectrum and I find it hard to care for her. I really need help and answers, like we all do, I'm sure.
329165 tn?1515471990 I still struggle to a point that I experience muscle weakness and chronic fatique due to this. If he ablates the extra 1, he is going to destroy my natural pacemaker and THEN he has to implant a Pacemaker.
