Topamax stomach pain

Common Questions and Answers about Topamax stomach pain

topamax

Avatar f tn I woke up a few days ago with a lot of pain in my stomach and spine. It is not time for my menstrual cycle nor have I overexerted myself with physical labor. I have sharp stabbing pains from time to time in my stomach and my spine aches. I urinate frequently and they are clear for the most part and without pain or odor. I have Hoshimoto's Thyroiditis and take Levothyroxin, Topomax for migraines and birth control for irregular menses.
Avatar n tn Topomax has some common & uncommon side effects, and stomach pain & back pain fall into the uncommon, but the burning urination is a little concerning. What leads you to believe it could be appendicitis, and not something like a UTI, or bladder infection? Just curious. I'm not a doctor, just letting you know, but I have a little experience with Topomax (never experienced those particular side-effects myself mind you).
Avatar f tn Been in hospital for week. No relief and now has gastroenteritis from all the steroids and NSAIDS. Back to the ER and treated with viscous lidocaine and mylanta to numb stomach. This actually helped a little with stomach. I've stopped the neurontin, but have continued the topamax once daily. Now we are taking Prilosec and mylanta. This has changed my entire families life for exactly one month. It's been a living nightmare that seems as though it will never end.
1687929 tn?1319426011 I agree with u...I was not on meds either...many Drs offered them instead of finding a dx...being post op, I am on a small dosage to try and control the HA's as I still need a few more surgeries....some of my pain is not touched with the small dose I am taking as the pain is joint pain and Topamax is to help control HA's.....
Avatar f tn I coughed myself awake this morning, which scared the heck out of me. And now my husband tells me that I've been coughing in my sleep since my NL started me on topamax. Current list of meds Topiramate (topamax) 50mg 1 tablet 2 times daily, Amitriptyline 100mg 1 tablet at bedtime, Cyclobenzaprine (flexeril) 10mg 1 tablet at bedtime, and Butalbital/APAP/Caffeine (fioricet) 1 tablet to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed. And my ENT has me on Diazepam 2mg 1 tablet 3 times daily.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have had a upper GI due to pain in my stomach and they said I have acid reflux in my upper throat area, or something like that. I don't feel the reflux come up into my throat. I took Zantac for a few months and the pain went away. I generally have no symptoms. Lately, I was put on Topamax for my migraine and migraine associated vertigo and a side effect is GI reflux.
Avatar f tn Doc says surgery is up to me for now and not necessary unless I cant handle symptons. They increased my topamax and 2 days later I felt like I was riding a speeding elevator. Anyone else have this effect from an increase?
324184 tn?1308076203 The pain usually occurs while you are sleeping and you are awakened with the pain. Sometimes your eye will close slightly and wonder and your nose will run. Good luck to you and hope you can find a med that will work for you. I went thru several before I found one that worked for me. Good luck.
Avatar n tn All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?
1558393 tn?1299070031 I have had a lot less pain after coming off the Keppra. I start the Topamax Tues and I will let you know how that goes. Found out today Dr. Di that does my operations will not be in his new office for about 3 months, but he is worth the wait.

Avatar f tn Hello I haven't posted in a while because I have been feeling better with topamax therapy, the headaches have gotten better, but I do have a new symptoms the last couple weeks i wanted to ask if other have experienced. I have intense pressure in my head mostly in the top and front and my temples go numb, both at the same time. Also, along the sides of my head above my ears. It either feels numb or like intense pressure. Its always equal, not one side more than the other.
Avatar f tn Welbutrin has worked for me for years, but about 8 days after starting Topamax for migraine control, the depression is kicking my butt. Could the Topamax be responsible? I would rather have migraines than be depressed!
Avatar f tn Has anyone had success with Topamax for neuropathic pain? Thanks in advance...
Avatar m tn I did experience a little joint pain in the elbows and wrists when I jumped to a higher dose. The pins and needle sensations came stronger and more often as well. In my feet it felt like bee stings, ouch. I did some digging online and found in the clinical trails potassium helped with the tingling so I tried that. I started out by just trying to add potassium rich foods to my diet and saw a difference on those days.
1276940 tn?1564515084 My name is Lisa. I am 45 y/o. I was dx w/ SS in April 2016 via a barbaric lip bx. I was sero-negative. I'm not 100% sure my lip bx was read right but that's another story for another time. I am on 200 mg Plaquenil BID & Evoxac 30 mg TID. I have been sailing along nicely until recently. I was in Esthetician school (and doing quite well), we all (a bunch of students) went to Nashville the end of April, for 3 days to a hair & skin show.
1524673 tn?1327841500 I have been on them for 10+ years. I am still on Topamax and other meds. There is a long story befind this which I can not share right now. What I wanted to share is this, for anyone who has been diagnosed with complicated migraine, has numbness, vision impairment, weakness, speach problems, on one side of your body, please get re-checked. Your doctor can do a blood test now as these types of migraines have gene markers.
5857909 tn?1375628784 First of all sorry for my language but i do not speak English very well I have been taking Topamax for 10 years for the chronic headaches . The result has been excellent. For the past two years I can say that the pain is completely gone.
Avatar n tn I have been taking topamax for 3 months for migraines. I’ve been getting them everyday for about 2 years (if I don’t have a headache, I have pressure behind my eyes which makes me feel tired). Well, I titrated up to 90 mgs of topamax and since I reached 90 mgs, the past month I’ve been headache free (YAY) until 5 days ago.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently started me on 25mg of Topamax twice daily. I am on day two, with no relieve yet. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to see any difference? Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have experienced the same! 6 months on topamax for migraine pain. Topamax caused seizures and thyroid problems plus numerous other smaller issues that compound to complete life altering issues. I cannot find a doctor in my network that will address this. They will only prescribe more drugs for the symptoms. They are incredibly uneducated in this next generation of doctors, only knowing how to prescribe drugs.
Avatar f tn Ive started having migraines since 2 years ago, and I started taking topamax when in pain. But, I don't take it every time since I don't want to get used to taking pain meds. I've also been using yaz pills for my PCOS that's what my OB prescribed me as to not worsen my migraine. Last month i shifted to yasmin pills i finished the pack 4 days after i started experiencing pain again. Headaches at first I thought it might be the medicine.
Avatar f tn I used to take Topamax for nerver pain, it was the only anti-seizure med that really worked well for the pain, and I had three attacks of kidney stones before I found out it was the Topamax causing them. I had to stop taking it, but was wondering if anyone else ever had this problem. I did a little research on it and in a small percentage of people it actually does do this, but my urologist only knew of one other person who took Topamax and had kidney stones.
681148 tn?1437661591 She still has pain and still needs to use strong pain medications for break-through pain but... without the topamax she would be completely disabled and would not be able to walk or use her hands at all. On the topamax she lives a very normal life! So, I think it is a very useful medication for chronic pain. For my chronic migraines, though, it did not bring them down to under 15+ migraines a month. So, my neurologist has also put me on a Beta Blocker and did Botox shots for me as well.
