Avatar m tn If it is a patch of inflamed corneal tissue, the tobradex may help. A consultation with a corneal specialist may be helpful if this episode does not resolve with medications.
Avatar m tn I know the importance of wearing a mask to prevent the spread of covid 19 is very important, but about 2 days ago I got a corneal abrasion from accidentally poking my left eye from my mask when i was trying to remove it.Im still in pain right now, but I'm worried I can't shower yet or wash my face because I still have a scratched eye.
1854507 tn?1322631960 Thankyou very much john hagan , If my recovery is not typical of a corneal abrasion what is causing the slow recovery ? Possibly reoccuring Corneal erosion ? So can blurriness can continue until the corneal epithelium is fully healed ? http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af282/MINUS12/f91f76012b580c0a29f426b6ab2b5885_zpsjalmob0w.
Avatar n tn Is it possible for the pain from a corneal scratch not to show up until 3-4 days following the injury? I developed severe eye pain on a Tuesday and was diagnosed with a ? corneal scratch/herpes infection. Only cause of a corneal scratch I can determine was being shot in the eye with a water gun at full force by my grandson 3-4 days prior to awakening with eye pain.
Avatar f tn My 9-month old son accidentally scratched my eye with his fingernail almost one week ago. I have (what I am assuming) is to be a corneal abrasion. The first couple days were awful -- very painful, significant eyelid swelling, extremely blurred vision, etc. But in previous abrasions I've had in the past, they had all healed within 48 to 72 hours. And although improved, this one is still not better.
Avatar m tn Dear all, The day before yesterday my wife had an incident at home which resulted in a corneal abrasion. We first went to the Emergency, then later to the eye doctor. The eye doctor says the abrasion is rather serious and detected the beginning of an infection. He prescribed Levofloxacin, Tobramycin and Bovine Fribroblast Growth Factor. The abrasion took place more than forty hours ago and so far we don't see any sensible improvement. We are worried about the infection more than anything.
Avatar m tn After a corneal abrasion, it is possible that there is still some corneal edema (swelling) which may be affecting your vision. Also, there is a condition called recurrent erosion which can develop after a corneal abrasion with a sharp object. This will feel as if there is a repeat abrasion, usually upon awakening in the AM. Astigmatism means that there is a difference in corneal power depending upon the meridian (clock hour) of measurement.

My vision seems to be about 75%-80% back to normal, small lettering and anything far away is still a bit blurry, but I can usually make it out. There's no pain in the eye, the doc said there appears to be no scarring of any sort as well.
Avatar m tn He was very surprised as he heard the history is too old. He told me it is corneal abrasion and after giving some antibiotic eye ointment he padded that eye. Days after I opened the pad and the eye was OK. But, again on 08th May problem relapsed. And I was sitting in front of an FRCS eye specialist by that evening. He gone through the history and came to the conclusion that, the upper layer of the eyeball was teared off from the ball and is not getting the fixing time.
Avatar f tn I got a corneal abrasion 10 days ago. The pain was gone in about 3 days, I used the antibiotics for a week. I can focus on things with in about a foot of my face, but not far away and when I look at lights, they appear to be smeared. (actually as 3 dots connected by a smear) I had gone to the ER for treatment since I knew it was bad right away. However my insurance is being funky and I don't know if they will cover an opthamoligist and money is tight. Should I be worried yet?
Avatar n tn Most corneal abrasion heal within 48 hours. Is this the same contact lens you were using since the onset of the problem? There could be something on the underside of the contact lens.
Avatar f tn Ok so after some research i think i got a corneal abrasion last week when i got a snowball thrown at my eye. At the time it was bad...red, extremelly sensitive, extreme pain with changes in light, tearing....then as time went on, these symptoms stopped, and what was left was a pink eye that is quite itchy and contains some puss.
Avatar f tn Had a Corneal Abrasion on Monday and went to a doctor who prescribed polymyxin B sulfate and trimethoprim ophthalmoc solution drops, 3 days later eye is still blurry but pain is gone from eye, have tried clear eyes maximum redness relief to reduce redness which does not appear to work. What should i do?
Avatar m tn I suffered a corneal abrasion on 2/12/2016. I was putting in refresh tear drops and got too close to my left eyeball and poked myself in the eye with the bottle tip. I was treated at the ER and followed up with an ophthalmologist. He said the abrasion has completely healed and my vision has returned to normal (what is was before the incident IMO). I can still feel a scratchy sensation but it is not really bad. It has now been 16 days after the incident. Will this scratchy sensation ever go away?

Avatar m tn You probably have a corneal abrasion. Given the fact that you had your contacts in much too long, please see an ophthalmologist for evaluation and treatment right away. You especially want to be sure that the abrasion does not develop into a corneal ulcer. If you do not have a regular ophthalmologist, find one in your area at www.aao.org.
