Tobradex for a stye

Common Questions and Answers about Tobradex for a stye

tobradex

Avatar m tn So he said to do warm compresses, continue the Blephagel but already use Tobradex Drops (w/ steroid) for a week. I also complained that my eyes seem to be bad upon waking up, better during the day, then bad again in the evening. He asked if i read often and I told him that i work at least 5-9 hours a day in front of a computer since my job is in the I.T. Industry. He prescribed me Artificial Tears (Systane Ultra) to reduce my Dry Eyes.
Avatar n tn If anyone would benefit from this, I can confirm that after getting a prescription for Tobradex (topical) and using it for 10 days (and also some cleansing, as much the kid let us do it), it's been 2 months now and the swelling did not reoccur. A small scar is still visible. Thank you for the advice!
Avatar f tn I am a 26 year old female. About a month ago I had a stye on my upper eyelid. After a few days when the swelling wouldn't go down I went to my eye doctor who prescribed me doxycycline and a sample of maxitrol cream to use at night. In a few days the swelling was gone as well as the pain but I continued to have this heavy feeling on my eyelid as well as a tiny red area where the stye was. The white dot that I had is gone as well.
Avatar n tn A chalazion/stye is like a pimple and antibiotics prevent new ones but do not make them go away. If this does not respond to warm compresses she DOES NEED SURGERY. A large chalazion can cause astigmatism and lead to loss of vision at this age. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn Would you recommend an 19 mo. old infant to use Tobradex for a chalazion? We just got a rx but we are not sure this is safe for an infant under two years old. The side effects for long term use mention glaucoma and vision problems? Should I be concerned about this?
Avatar n tn My opth has diagnosed me with blepharitis, I use sterilid w/ compresses and take flaxseed oil, and I also use preservative free eyedrops for moisture. However nothing has worked to my satisfaction besides tobradex which I've used for about a year and half- my eyelid inflammation is pretty severe even with the other treatments, however w/ tobradex my symptoms are almost nonexistent.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem using Tobradex (the generic version though) a month ago. Vision was blurry for about a week after I stopped using it.
Avatar n tn There is not a eye drop made or a drug prescribed that somewhere in the list of possible side effects mentions blurred vision. You need to return as soon as possible to see an EYe MD ophthalmologist. It may be that you did not have an infected eye (conjunctivitis) but rather an evolving iritis (also called uveitis) which can cause all those symptoms. In any case have eyes examined ASAP by an EYE MD.
Avatar m tn 2 drops a day for 2 days after the procedure. Is it ok to use Tobradex, once a month, for 3 days at a time? Any thoughts on what could be causing my reaction? Thank you!
5999971 tn?1378138559 It is probably a stye. Goggle it to see if it looks the same. Use warm compresses 4 to 5 times per day and see an ophthalmologist when one is available. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn Yes unless the child is very ill and feverish (very unlikely with a stye, more common with orbital cellulities) it is better to work through your pediatrician and a lot less expensive.
Avatar n tn I was told that the eye itself looked very good...no infection/abrasions noted. I was put on Tobradex drops for pain management. I have not noticed any improvement with my eye since using the drops. I'm wanting to know if I should be seen by an opthamologist. Does an opthamologist treat problems associated with the eyelids/muscles when the eye appears to be healthy?
Avatar f tn The inner corner swollen spot is tender to touch and sometimes itchy. Hot wet cloth compresses help for a few hours. From what I have read, I think it is a stye. The thing I haven't found any info about is that the "bag" under the eye (that sometimes-puffy area of skin that sits above the cheekbone) is quite puffy and red. It is not at all tender and is not changed by the compresses, it just looks bad. Does this sound like a stye, or something else?
Avatar m tn t figure out why my eye was showing symptoms of a blocked tear duct with the test coming back negative. I did 4 drops a day for a week. I've been off the drops for 4 days now and my vision has gotten substantially worse. I'm worried that it won't clear up. I can't drive and can barely concentrate at work. I have my follow up tomorrow and I'm hoping they can give me good news. To make matters worse, the tobradex didn't help with my watery eye at all!
Avatar n tn The eyelid itself is a bit swollen, but other than that no specific symptoms. Any insight as to what may be going on? The most common result I see is stye, but I don't have a pimple or bump of any kind.
Avatar n tn I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.
Avatar f tn I went to ophthalmologist and was prescribed Tobradex (antibiotic/corticosteroid). This medication helped after I used it for a couple of weeks. I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again. I again used Tobradex for about 3-4 days. Everything went back to normal, but all the symptoms are back once more.
Avatar n tn Neither Maxitrol or tobradex are good choice for allergic conjunctivitis. Both often irritate the eye and have harseh preservatives in them. You would best use a good artificial tear: Systane, Blink, Refresh, Soothe and something for allergies like Patanol or Pataday. If your allergy is bad enough to require a steroid then lotemax, or pred mild would be better choices.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just recovered from a stye that lasted about 4-5 days. It cleared up nicely and I felt healthy. 2 days later another stye developed. It's the same eye but a different position. I've booked in to see my GP, but that is still over a week away. Any tips or insights as to why/how this happens?
Avatar m tn Right now im taking TOBRAdex, and Hialid, way back dec2011, i had a sore eyes, then i used a MAxritol without consulting a doctor, then my eyes got irritated, then i went to CEBU Dr,Larrazabal, then he gave me hialid & frulon,, then after 5mnths it was okey.. on the last week of August 2012,i felt sometimes a blurred vision, then, i consult again to Dra. Aquiatana herein our PLACE..
Avatar f tn You need to see an Eye MD opthalmologist and schedule yourself for an office surgical procedure. It likely is a chalazion not a stye. In that case you would have incision, drainage and possibly steroid injection. You may also need the specimen sent for pathological study as in some cases eyelid tumors can simulate styes or chalazions.
Avatar n tn Hi doctor, About a year and a half ago an opthalmologist ended my 10 year span of using naphazoline hydrocholoride which had been prescribed by my gen physician. He put me on flax seed oil, allegra, restasis, sterilid and qtips, moisturizing eyedrops and tobradex. At one point he did tell me to slow down on the tobradex but I couldn't handle having such bloodshot eyes so he's allowed me to continue usage for the past year and a half while monitoring my IOP levels.
1021912 tn?1251693068 for the swelling get a hot rag and put it on your eye for 15 minutes every hour untill you go to sleep. I'm no professional doctor or anything but, I have a chalazion, and i went to the doctor to get the eye drops and capsules too, and they workedd so far. i have been eating healthy and taking the pills with water. and excersize. it sounds funny, but do it, it will help! my chalazion is draining right now, and the swelling is going down ALOT.
