Tobradex blepharitis

Common Questions and Answers about Tobradex blepharitis

tobradex

Avatar f tn Both lower lids become puffy, a little bit itchy, red, wrinkled and visibly dry. I went to ophthalmologist and was prescribed Tobradex (antibiotic/corticosteroid). This medication helped after I used it for a couple of weeks. I stopped using it, and everything was fine for a while, my lower eyelids were back to normal, without that awful wrinkles and puffiness and redness. But in about 10-14 days the problem started again. I again used Tobradex for about 3-4 days.
Avatar m tn But after a week of clearing me, i started to have inflamed eyelid and some discharge, so I tried to see a different doctor and he said i have mebomianitis AND blepharitis. i went back to my old doctor and he said it does seem like blepharitis, because he ruled it out due to my report of the discharge in the morning. i'm now about to see a 3rd doctor, specializing in Cornea/External Diseases for a 3rd opinion, but any other opinion out there? Docs? Thanks!
Avatar n tn It was initially thought to be allergies, but the Patanol did not help. Opthamologist then prescribed tobradex, which worked until I came off it. We then moved to longer tobradex usage that tapered over two weeks. Came back again once I came off. Then moved to oral antibiotic for one week and zylet - no results. Now oral antibiotic for two weeks - no results.
Avatar n tn I went to a pharmacy, the guy there gave me tobradex eye drops, i used it for 2 days only, my symptoms immediately disappeared in the second day, however i discontinued using the antibiotic course thinking that it was cleared forever. Now i am having every 2 or 3 weeks an episode of bacterial conjunctivitis, that lasts for 3 to 4 days than disappear, the reason for its reappearance is probably because i constantly rub my eyes.
Avatar m tn I have had one opthamologist treat me for Herpes Keratitis while another for chronic blepharitis (I do have seborrhheic dermatitis). What can I do to head off these attacks? I do warm compresses and lid scrubs, but can I use steroids like Tobradex when I fell an attack coming on? Often they seem to be preceded by a stye. I'm suffering through one now and very anxious.
Avatar f tn Then it became so bad, that I had sharp pain in the left eye (surgery eye). Anyhow, I was then diagnosed with blepharitis, took some antibiotics and use an ointment daily along with scrub cleaning the eye lashes after warm them with compresses. The problem is that I still have problems in the surgery eye, the sharp pain returns ever so often, along with the congestion in the nostril with the new tubing. So, my question is can you have blepharitis in one eye only?
Avatar m tn is tobramycin in tobradex effective against s. Aureus? Are there better antibiotics for this condition? Ive tried many others but it seems they make more harm than good. I wonder whether my glands have bacteria inside or not.
Avatar n tn I have had redness of my right eye for 4 months now went to an ophthamologist at the onset, gave tobradex, seem to clear completely, the recurred also immediately with pain and som photophobia. She prescribed another steriod called lopamax? tapered for 3 weeks, cleared very quickly now says I have clogging of the memobian gland (also lid hygeine and warm compress) pressures are ok, no visual problems, no pain, Still redness. Now she put me on azasite and PO doxycycline. The problem persist.
Avatar n tn I have been treating my eye with Tobradex ointment, and massaging the ointment into my eyelids. Also, I have not been wearing any eye makeup. I plan on replacing all of my makeup and brushes, to prevent a reinfection. Does this sound like my problem is styes? I am including a photo of my eye. The bump on my upper eyelid appears white, but in reality it is flesh colored.
Avatar n tn I have chronic eyelid margin swelling in the outside corners of both of my eyes and it extends 2 inches beyond the eye lids towards the cheek. There is pain, inflamation, and itching in the outside corners of both eyes for the past several months mostly in the skin area. Recently, my eyes have also started to burn and when they burn severely, my eye lashes fall. My eyes are always tired and I've lost the fresh look.
Avatar n tn Some cases of blepharitis are very difficult to treat. You mentioned dandruff, so this may be a seborrheic blepharitis. This is a chronic condition that sometime is very difficult to treat. Warm compresses before lid hygiene with pads ( most patients do do it correctly-our staff frequently has to teach the patient a few times), oral doxycycline or Oracea (slow release type of doxy). Azasite rubbed into the lashes twice a day for two weeks after lid hygiene, a mild topical steroids, etc.
Avatar n tn warm compress, fish oil, flax seed oil, doxycycline hyclate 100mg, cleansing the eyelids thoroughly with baby shampoo, Sterilid or Ocusoft Lid scrubs, Tobradex, Erythromycin, Blephamide, Keflex, Ciloxan. Even Azasite or lancing and draining of the chalazions made no difference in the size or swelling. I have tried all of the above solutions over many months with zero difference in the size and swelling of the bumps. The bumps usually start in fall or winter time.
Avatar f tn I was initially diagnosed with an eye infection and blepharitis. Also on my inner lower eyelid of that eye, I have a stye. It's small, but it's yellow and has not drained. It has existed the entire time. Going back to the initial diagnosis of infection--that having been treated, the redness didn't go away. I have been given the gamut of eye drops to make the redness go away. 1. First I was given Pataday eye drops for what was suspected as allergy causing the redness.
Avatar f tn The tobradex is completely out of your system after 6 days. But your symptoms are very disturbing. I would return for another exam or seek a second opinion with another ophthalmologist.
Avatar n tn I had an eye infection(eye redness) and my doctor pescribed me Tobradex for 5 days. The eye redness is gone now but I'm having problem now on my right eye Problems are blurred vision ,eye pain upon eye movement and a sensitivity to light. I searched on Google and found in many articles that the eye blurriness is one of the side effects of using Tobradex. My question is there anyone had the same problem of blurry vision? what precautions to take ? Is your eye is now ok?
Avatar n tn I was told that the eye itself looked very good...no infection/abrasions noted. I was put on Tobradex drops for pain management. I have not noticed any improvement with my eye since using the drops. I'm wanting to know if I should be seen by an opthamologist. Does an opthamologist treat problems associated with the eyelids/muscles when the eye appears to be healthy?
Avatar n tn I had eye surgery a month ago on 7/24/09. My doctor(opthamologist) pescibed tobradex to be used 4X daily. I put these eye drops in as directd. I have been using them now for a month. How long do I have to use this medicine? I am also using a tobradex ointment at bedtime. Can you plesae let me know? Frank.

Avatar f tn I have been noticeing small clear bubbles forming on the inside of my lowere eyelid . I have several of them , i had some tobradex drops and used them but nothing is makeing them go away , has anyone had this problem ???
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 19 year old healthy college student. About 7 months ago I woke up and noticed my eye irritation with movement of my eyes. I ignored it for about a month and it turned into a constant feeling of eyelashes scratching my eyes. In fact, I remember plucking eyelashes because I thought they were scratching my eyes. I also remember lookng under my eyelids because I thought I had eyelashes stuck underneath them. My upper eyelids are very puffy (inflammed but not red) and red underneath.
Avatar n tn Would you recommend an 19 mo. old infant to use Tobradex for a chalazion? We just got a rx but we are not sure this is safe for an infant under two years old. The side effects for long term use mention glaucoma and vision problems? Should I be concerned about this?
