spiriva

Avatar m tn I take Spiriva Respimat (tiotropium bromide) 2.5 mcg/actuation, and Wixela (fluticasone propionate salmeterol inhalation powder) for my COPD. Is there a sequence I should be taking these meds in? Is there a time frame I should use between the two meds?
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn If from the lungs, you could be experiencing Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) withdrawal symptoms, depending on what type of lung problem was being treated with the Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder). These symptoms, along with your arms feeling weak and heavy, could all be due to anxiety, but could also be symptoms of more serious disease of the heart or lungs. For that reason, you do need to see your doctor to sort this out.
Avatar n tn This would include a long-acting bronchodilator, such as Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate), Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) along with an inhaled steroid. Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this. You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
Avatar n tn OK, First post on forum. Diabetes for 7 years. Type 2 progressed to full insulin shortly. runs in the family. Went to a new doctor today and was getting examined and he told me a new treatment was out. He said about an inhaler. Well I know about insulin inhalers but didn't know if they were used much. So I asked them if this was what he was talking about and he said no. He said the medicine reacted with your pancreas.
Avatar f tn ll get used to the inhaled medicine better or later he will reduce the number of times you need to take the inhaler---or give you an inhaler that delivers less medicine and doesn't have this effect. I hope it's better by now.
Avatar f tn Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) has a maximum duration of action of about 36 hours. To be safe, you would want to be off the medicine for 48 to 72 hours before the spirometry. It would have been preferable, but not mandatory to do the pulmonary function tests (PFTs) at the time the diagnosis of chronic lung disease was made especially if the diagnosis was unequivocal. The other important question would be, “Why 3 CT scans, presumably of your lungs, in 16 months?
Avatar m tn Cause of low DLCO and drop in it from test 1 to test 1? I am currently on tiotropium bromide and salmeterol/fluticasone propionate. My reason for posting this is one doc is pessimistic and the other highly optimistic. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Spiriva contains tiotropium bromide which is an anticholinergic bronchodilator. So, yes, both have action against acetylcholine recptors and both are efefctive bronchodilators. You can take any one of them. Indacaterol is an ultra-long-acting beta-adrenoceptor agonist. So, it gives bronchodialation for a much longer time. It is a more recent drug so long term efficacy data are not available. However, available data does show a marked benefit in individuals with COPD.

Avatar n tn I am relatively new to the use of an inhaler and have trouble telling when they are empty, full, or even working. Four evenings ago I started a knew inhaler and ended up using them both an estimated 6 treatments. The 1st day after this I experienced intense heartburn. I dont usually get heartburn and have never experienced this extreme discomfort. Blamed it on the pizza we had eaten.

Avatar f tn I therefore took myself off this inhaler and told my asthma nurse about it. I have been off the inhaler for two years and practically symptom free. I only need my blue inhaler if I catch a cold. After two years nearly symptom free my asthma nurse wants me to go back on a steroid inhaler so has put me on cleril modulite 100mcg inhaler. I've been taking it for two weeks and notice my asthma getting worse and a build up of phlegm again. Why would the inhalers be making my asthma worse ?
Avatar f tn Well, i was just prescribed an asthma inhaler today. Ive thought that i have develped asthma for a few weeks now because ive been extremely short of breath and had a tight chest. I also notice that it gets worse around my cat or smoke. Also, apprantly my dr agreed because he prescribed me an inhaler.
Avatar f tn If u can't breathe then u should take Ur inhaler. Ur inhaler is not great for u but its considered safe cause if u can't breathe then thats not safe either. But u should prolly ask Ur Dr if there is something different he can give u. Those should only be used once a day.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me using the neb more than an inhaler. I am to use my inhaler only when I absolutely cannot use my neb or for very minor issues. Personally, I find it is MUCH more effective. The nebulizer produces a much finer mist than what comes out of an inhaler enabling it to get deeper into the lungs. I know of some people that have purchased small, purse sized nebs to use instead of using an inhaler at all.
Avatar m tn Several aspects should be considered while selecting an inhaler for asthma, such as the severity of your ailment, your age, personal preference, and any other health issues you could have. One possible solution for moderate asthma is to use a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) inhaler, which may provide rapid relief from symptoms.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have these problems? Its seems as i get bigger im using my inhaler more and more do to shortness of breath...its starting to worry me cause im afraid im using my inhaler to much....
