For the last three months I have had to take immodium approximately 3-4x a week and strugged frequently with bloating/diarhea/stomach cramping. Upon starting the gluten-free diet I swung to constipation which is now controlled via medication. My worst trigger food has always been spaghetti, so I purchased gluten-free (brown rice/white rice/quinoa) spaghetti and ate it tonight.
Avatar n tn Another big food intolerance to consider is gluten intolerance. I think it is wise to test your son for Celiac. If it comes back negative, this is good news. But, a person can still be gluten intolerant without having Celiac. The treatment for it is the same either way, which is to avoid gluten and dairy, particularly cow's milk. I can't tolerate any kind of lactose, cow or goat. Your son seems to be displaying the classic symptoms of Celiac.

Quinoa is a 'grain' consisting of 8 essential amino acids (protein) which is the same as milk, plus it is gluten free (wheat -free). It is a great protein source for people who do not eat meat and it can be eaten in different methods as I stated above.

Yes, millet is what birds eat, but the hulled millet found in the bulk foods department is meant for human consumption. If you can find a clean source that isn't too dusty, millet is good, too. I have found quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) to be very clean, plus it is higher in protein than the other grains. And, it's not from a grass.
Avatar f tn I have a mostly healthy diet with a day or two in the month where I eat junk, like popcorn and apple pie with ice cream I recently started mixing Amazing Grass Superfoods and Wheat grass in my morning smoothies. My smoothies include a helping of berries: blue, black, and strawberries with banana and grape juice. Not sure if the superfoods have causes this grainy stool, but I am concerned since it lasts for a couple of days.
