Common Questions and Answers about Terbinafine oral suspension

lamisil

Avatar m tn face, arms, back. My dermatologist gave me Lamisil cream with oral terbinafine during 2 weeks. My rash has almost disappeared. It came back 1 month after taking terbinafine. I have done a mycological examination 1 month after taking terbinafine but it was negative. Also, oral griseofulvin during 3 weeks didn't work. My rash was spreading all over my body (70%). The physicians sayed it was eczema. The gave me diprosone and oral cortisone.
1652119 tn?1301725969 m now switching over to oral Griesofulvin as the side effects of oral Terbinafine are pretty much unbearable (resembles a cold but with more sneezing ; at times I also get 'breathless' ie my mind feels that my breaths are not supplying O2 to my brain---wierd is'nt it ?).
Avatar n tn Hello, Terbinafine oral is not effective against tinea versicolor. However Terbinafine solution (Lamisil) is quite effective in treatment of tinea versicolor. Please discuss this with your doctor and you can get prescribed oral treatment like itraconazole, ketoconazole or fluconazole. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn but after a week i started oral fluconazole with terbinafine cream.after few days again some fungal infection came...is it the side effect of fluconazole. ???
Avatar m tn Immediately I started applying Lamisil (terbinafine) every morning till today. All the redness and everything else is gone, but if I look at the skin from the side, I can still see the "circles" (in slightly different skin tone) where the fungi was located... does it mean that I'll have to keep on applying the cream for longer till I don't see those circles?
Avatar m tn t to the doctor and he proscribed a oral anti-fungal... but the issue remains. I am starting to get concerned cause It spread to a few other areas and doesn't seem to wan't to leave. I can provide more info but I just was wondering if someone had an idea what is wrong.
Avatar f tn FYI, terbinafine is Lamisil cream. Terbinafine is the generic name. Otherwise, you will have to see a doctor.
Avatar f tn Then I went for a check up and the doctor prescribed me itraconazole 100 mg and terbinafine 250 mg oral solution and Luliconazole cream. Infection was cured completely. But now again it has appeared on my body. Specifically on my neck. I am having the same oral solution and using Clotrimazole topical cream. But it's not effective like before. Instead of being cured it's spreading. I am also using ketoconazole soap for bathing.
Avatar n tn Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day. and do not share other people’s towels.Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. If the symptoms persist then pls get it evaluated from a dermatologist. I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.
1712311 tn?1308397237 I went to the doctor, and he said it was a yeast infection. Prescribed me Terbinafine 250mg tablets, and Nystatin and Trimacinolone Acetonide cream. This has not helped one bit, and I am starting to get really anxious about it. Not only do I have these spots all over my body, but they leave white spots from my tan when they go away. So I have tons of red spots, and tons of white tan spots everywhere. Please help me, its summer time and I would really like to go swimming with my friends.
Avatar m tn i have gone to a dertermologist and they have said it was a fungus growing on my arm and put me on Terbinafine. well i have been on this for almost two months and have seen no improvement and it is still getting worse. i kind of think it is ring worm but i have been putting lamisil on it but that has not helped either. i am going to a new doctor about it soon but i would like opinions on it.
Avatar f tn So, frustrated and distressed, back I went to the dermatologist. This time, she gave me an oral antifungal called terbinafine and also gave me desonate gel, another corticosteroid. She said if it is fungal, the terbinafine should clear it up right away since it's a rather small rash. She also said that if it's contact dermatitis, the desonate gel would clear it up. So, I went on with her directions and took the terbinafine for 10 days and used the desonate for 14 days.
Avatar n tn Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. If it is contact dermatitis, then oral antihistaminics and steroids are useful. Treatment for both is entirely different.I feel that you should consult a dermatologist and get it assessed so that specific treatment(antifungals or corticosteroids) can be started. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil) Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone. It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.

Avatar f tn While they are going down with OTC creams and Natural Remedies (Apple Cider Vinegar + Tea tree oil) I ended up going on Terbinafine because it seems like these things are at a standstill. So I have a few questions: ***Skin that isn't even affected by ringworm is VERY ITCHY. Is this normal? ***I've never had a more serious case of ringworm before. Is it ok to be putting lotion on my skin now? ***Skin that wasn't affected by any lesions is peeling off. Again is this normal?
Avatar f tn They may do a blood test to check your liver enzymes. So you need oral Griseofulvin or Terbinafine pills (Lamisil). So I would see another dermatologist as that one doesn't seem to be up to date. They can do a culture and see what type it is and confirm that it is a fungus too. They can also add the shampoo. You may also have a secondary infection with a bacteria that may be causing the smell. So you may need an antibiotic in addition to the anti-fungal treatment to get rid of this.
Avatar m tn Hello, For fungal infection, firstly you have to use the topical antifungal therapy. The oral antifungal therapy is not without side effects and is available by prescription. For that a dermatologist needs to be consulted. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with oral thrush. I wont get much into the details on how i got it but it was through a sexual encounter. So It has been around 3-4 weeks and I still having symptoms. First I was taking Nystatin then my Doctor prescribed me Fluconazole. While I was taking this medications I felt like it was only preventing it from getting worse and not actually addressing the root cause. Just a couple days ago I stopped taking Fluconazole and my tongue and lips again started to get swollen.
