So my nail edges look yellow. I've heard that yellow nails can be indicative of health problems. I also have yellow toenails but I went to the dermatologist and she said I had a toenail fungus. I was prescribed terbinafine for my toenails and have been on it for a week. But she didn't really check my finger nails. My nails have been like that for a while though.

Even with high chlorine levels I started seeing a slime in the water and on checking the filter it was almost stopped up with this clear slime. Was this from toenail fungus? Can the toenail fungus thrive in water temps up to 105 f?

I too have toenail fungus on both big toes & for many years. Have had one of them removed just to have it grow back the same after 2 removals. From my understanding one must use both an oral med along with a topical med if it is truly toenail fungus. I suffer from multiple skin cancers & have had 6 surgeries in 6 weeks with about a year more to go as I also have RA & thus a lousy healing & immune system.

It does sound like a fungal infection. Do dermatologists do toenails? I really don't know, usually podiatrists do feet.

Toby, You are correct, this does sound like a toenail fungal infection. Fungus may turn a toenail yellow, brown and sometimes black. The nail may become thickened with fungal debris growing underneath. The fungus likes to grow under the nail lifting it up so yes it is common for it to detach. There are other things that may mimic a fungal infection. Trauma itself can cause toenails to have similar changes as can a yeast infection.

Thank you for your response. I haven't had it taken to a doctor yet. However I do suffer from fungal toenails. After posting I realised that the toenail in the picture also has become infected. I have had my toes examined by a doctor previous and they prescribed oral Terbinafine. I have been on it for a few months now but haven't seen any improvement. I am going to go back in the near future and ask for a lacquer. I bought one myself it contains amorolfine.

For three or four years my toenails have looked as they do in the photo. They grow up to a certain point seeming healthy, then suddenly the toenail darkens and seems thicker and a new one begins to grow with it. They always grow up to the point in the photo and then the problem returns and a new healthy toenail starts growing, pushing the old one out. My dermatologist put me on anti-fungal medication, when my testing for fungus was positive, but now the tests come up as negative.

i have fungu on my finger and also on my toe it been like that for the past six month been to the doctor he give me cream but they are not helping me dont know what else to.

I also want to say that my doctor did take a sample from my nail, had it tested and it came back positive for Onychomycosis.

What is the usual dosage for treatment of toenail fungus with Diflucan? My doctor prescribed it to me and it just seems to be different than normal. He said to take 100 mg/daily for the first 10 days of each month until it's gone. Is that a normal regimen?

I had this white scaling on the penis glans going on for almost 3 weeks and not improving. I went to see a general practitioner and he said it is balanatis. He prescribed 2mg of Tinizadole which reading about I found it is NOT used for fungus problems. Do not know if I should go ahead and take it. hello, I have some small striated , black lines in the upper part of my right and left toenail on my big toes, my right more than my left, my right toenail is really just one small spot and not a line. in these areas, i did have some fungal growth.. I stated treating it with bleach a litl while ago and it pretty much seemed to cure it, although since then it seems like i have gotten more lines. Although not much identifiable fungal growth.

wow im so sorry to hear this, i too have been tested for eveything and had serious somach issues, no stds and no signs of why i always get severes stomach pains, i have had a penile yeast infection for over a year and diflucan doesnt work for me neither do the creams, MK9 is great hes great to talk to and he gives knowable advice. IM here for you if you nee someone to tlak and listen as i believe im ina similar boat.

Ive had 2 biopsy not cancer. Dr thinking fungus . I was on antibiotics and am currently taking Terbinafine 250mg and Ketoconazole 200mg pill and cream and wash . I recently had a tooth pulled and gum filled with puss. maybe that was hindering my healing. so frustrated and worried.

My big toe and to a lesser extent toe immediately adjacent have all the symptoms of the unsightly onychomycosis. The skin next to my big toe has for some time had a reddish appearance, but has just recently starting eroding and has rapidly deteriorated. There is no pain, but it is very unsightly and no amount of moisturing helps. Because Lamisil has potential liver toxicity and is expensive, my doctor did not seem to favor treating my onychomycosis systemically.
