if you have renal problems i would monitor and switch to entecavir if they get worse or stay out of range.there is many people here taking tenofovir for years, check what is their experience on this
talk with the doctor about switching to etv, did you have renal problems before starting tx?
Both etv and tdf have to be processed through renal tubes so both can impact kidneys but most people are ok. The Tenofovir TAF is supposed to be very good.
3. Entecavir in high doses in animal studies was causing cancer but no human cases reported yet.
4. Tenofovir has a stonger resistsnce profile for mutants.
There is two tenofovirs, TDF and TAF. TAF is the new one.
Your only reasonable choice is tenofovir. Despite its chemical similarity, tenofovir is about 80 times less toxic to the kidneys than adefovir.
I remember a personal discussion about this with Gileads research director, Gibbs, at the time. He said "we had no idea, what a huge difference a single methyl group can make".
5 mg i want to switched her from entehep to tenofovir but i heard thai it has side effect on kidney and bone loss so how to overcome this situation.

The problem is two different vets.said it would be too risky to put her to sleep to pull or work on her teeth. Her breath is really bad and I know she is in pain. My poor little girl needs some help. My cat, Miss Kitty has just died from renal failure. We did not notice any symptoms except weight loss and as she was about 14,, we attributed this to being older. She was still active and eating, until one Friday night when she collapsed. We took her to an excellent vet who gave her aggressive treatment over a period of weeks, including IV fluids, saline,blood supplements, phosphorus blocker, CCRF supplements, KD cat food, and we also gave her Astro Oil.

Because cats hide their illnesses and the very early signs of CRF are subtle, this disease may only be recognized when the patient reaches the 70% deterioration level and more dramatic symptoms are observable. The seemingly sudden onset may appear to be an acute condition but is most often a crisis point of CRF.
yesterday we noticed a patch of hair gone so took him to the vet had all the blood work done and this morning we received a call saying Tye was in renal failure and may only have a few months to live.we brought him into the vet to get SUB Q fluids and this is needed for the next few days he will get a special diet and have to take a water pill and antiacid as well as another medication i cant remember what it is called let alone what it is use for.
I have 2 twin jack Russell terriers. today I was told one of them has renal failure. vet wanted to eutho him then and there. was totally unprepared. I bought these twin brothers from a breeder at 12 weeks. they have never been apart since their birth. always butt and butt when they sleep. 11 yrs old.
in case of decline of gfr below 60 or 30, since renal failure is when gfr is below 15, tenofovir can be reduced to 150mg daily or 75mg daily and still fully active.at lower doses the drug still works even in case of lamR, i posted a study a couple of days ago on this who last 5 years without any tdf resistance, both doses are much more potent than adv
since only 1% needs to change dose due to low gfr below 30 it is better to keep full dose even if 150mg and 75mg work.

A confirmed increase in serum creatinine of 0.5 mg/dL (11%) and renal failure (less than 1%) have been reported in entecavir-treated patients with hepatic decompensation.
Respiratory
Respiratory side effects have included upper respiratory tract infection, cough, nasopharyngitis, and rhinitis. Upper respiratory infection has been reported in 10% of entecavir-treated patients with hepatic decompensation.
Renal anomalies could be responsible for decreased or deranged renal function and may lead to renal failure. One working kidney is enough for normal functions of the body. It would be difficult to comment if your other symptoms could be related. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating nephrologist.

I am so sorry to hear your baby is in renal failure. We lost our baby Sandy Grace (a beautiful yellow lab) to renal kidney failure on February 6. It is so very hard. We took Sandy Grace to a specialist and she told us that she had not heard of any transplants in dogs that had been successful. She said the studies she had done showed that many times they have not made it through surgery, and for others died soon after surgery.

Unfortunately, the reports by these financial advisors/reporters frequently lack the necessary precision. In this case the difference would be critical. I am not sure at this point what to trust, since in some presentations the company actually seemingly used simple Tenofovir, not TDF as a comparison drug.
