Now the x-ray of knee joint is showing osteoporosis in articular bones femur and tibia. Doctor said it is due to disuse atrophy and adviced PTH injection which is expensive. The bone fragments have not united well till now and this is likely a case of delayed union. I am taking very healthy diet and calcium citrate +vit d supplements.
Despite all these the non union is making me feel doubtful of tenofovir being the culprit which I am taking from past 2.5 years.
Shall I stop tdf?
tenofovir has nothing to do with bones mineral density, it is hbv itself that hijacks vdr receptors which control genes for balance of immune system and calcium metabolism
we all have low vit d, very high nagalase levels, low gcmaf, low vdr activation, high normal range parathormone
if you really want to control calcium balance you need (and this may help immunity too)
- check you nagalase and make it normal by adding gcmaf from outside (injections).
I see you have been asking about Vemlidy (tenofovir alafenamide) on other posts. This med was only US approved on November 10, 2016 so there is no long term data available for this medicine.

i haven t yet studied all drugs for osteoporosis but i think they do work today although they are weak and that supplements are needed too because bisphosphonate build up bone density but not bone quality.
My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
can anyone help me out with some information on what is going on here, her osteoporosis does not seam to be getting any worse, as she is on meds and really diets well to help herself, but the pain is what i am worried about, pain killers do not work at all, she can't have anti inflams for some reason, either heart or ulcer or something...

I just had my frist Bone scan and the office called me and said I had osteoporosis and that they called in RX for Atelvia..
I picked up the RX and was reading the information and I am concerned about the side effect of this medication.

I am a 59 year old female.The reading on my bone density test is minus 4.1 for my spine and minus 2.6 for my legs and hip. However, my doctor isn't prescribing any medication for me but tells me to continue taking calcium supplement and Vitamin D and come back in a year to do another test. Since I am obviously having osteoporosis, shouldn't I be taking any prescription drug? I am worried sick over the reading and need some expert opinion to go back and talk to my doctor again.
That is actually not much better than tenofovir vs tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, the actual substance in Viread. It is 50 times more potent than tenofovir.
It is all this improper simplification of callling viread tenofovir.
Tenovovir, if it would be given orally, would have no effect on HBV.
TEnofovir if given intravenously or sc would still have almost no effect on HBV in the liver. the substance has a high negative charge and cannot easlily penetrate cell membranes.
000iu of vit d3 daily you are deficient.this makes problems with immune system, often leads to osteoporosis when old and much pain/inflammation
so definitely check your vitd25oh and intact parathormone and start taking vit d3.

The following is a paper from doctors in Francel. It said you can breastfeed whilst your are on Tenofovir because "Tenofovir is not absorbed in the breast milk". However, I have googled and cannot find any reference to this claim. All the best to you and your baby.

hbv has no symptoms, you may even be dying and feel nothing
tenofovir improves kideys function especially tenofovir+telbivudine in those with kidneys function.
