Avatar m tn lactic acidosis can be lethal if uncontrolled, i dont know if there is a treatment to lower it, i know there are supplements to prevent this but i dont remember exactly, you should recheck online research coq10 and liposomal glutathione might help, especially coq10 possibly the brands with better absorption (coq10 nano from solgar decreased my creatinine).also fibroguard from heptech took my creatinine from 1.2 to 0.
Avatar m tn if your alt is still abnormal after 2 years entecavir is not suppressing hbvdna in the liver you should have alt below 30 i suggest a combo with nitazoxanide or tenofovir first i think sides are not related with etv and not important, fast heartbeat is nothing to worry about 99% time, as to lactic acidosis it has been seen on uncompensated cirrhosis not on nomral compensated liver function but anyway take the test, i don't know in english but something like lactate level lab tests in ital
Avatar f tn Tenofovir could cause Lactic Acidosis and it usually gets worse over time.
Avatar m tn no it is not but on cirrhosis patients with low liver function and especially on uncompensated cirrhosis severe lactic acidosis can develop and nausea might be lactic acidosis but it takes time to develop so 99% is not related to entecavir be sure your doctor has planned regular lactic acidosis blood tests at least the first years because lactic acidosis can reach fatal levels in the blood with time, so blood tests for this are very important i am also on cirrhosis and on etv 0.
Avatar m tn Currently on a clinical trial (TAF vs TDF - double blinded study). Started meds 3 days ago, didn't notice any side effects until later yesterday. I can only describe it as my feet and legs feeling cold. Did some research and it's suggested lactic acidosis. Should I be concerned this early on about this? I'm not sure if it's a side effect of the drug or just the cold weather doing it right now (I also sit under an air vent all day at work). At what point should I be worried?
Avatar m tn There is a rare side effect of lactic acidosis on Viread that you may call and ask your doctor about, or others like stef will have better advice hopefully. I'm almost done with my first month on Viread and no issues, but if I had what you did I'm thinking I would call the doctor just to be on the safe side. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn My cousin apparently was originaly on entecavir (Baraclude) but switched to adefovir (Hepsera). He says it was because he had muscle cramps when taking Baraclude. I notice that lactic acidosis is one of the side effects of taking Baraclude. Actually one of the more dangerous side effects of Baraclude. Is switching from Baraclude to Hepsera a valid treatment option, then? Shouldn't Viread have been tried next?
Avatar m tn Your symptoms look like Lactic acidosis. You should go see your doctor to make sure you will be fine with that. You are not taking any risks by giving up Viread, the real life threatening risk is Lactic Acidosis.
Avatar m tn Stefano and others, thanks for your help. As I posted before, 2 of my relatives are currently undergoing Hepsera monotherapy. I went to a new doctor for a second opinion and the Hepsera-prescribing current doctor for an explanation of treatment choice. The first doctor agreed that Baraclude and Viread are to be dispensed per current AASLD guidelines but, once you've started with Hepsera, there is no need to change. He felt that the resisitance rate for Hepsera (vs.

Avatar n tn org/wiki/Metformin Contraindications Metformin is contraindicated in people with any condition that could increase the risk of lactic acidosis, including kidney disorders (creatinine levels over 150 μmol/l (1.7 mg/dL),[47] although this is an arbitrary limit), lung disease and liver disease. According to the prescribing information, heart failure, in particular, unstable or acute congestive heart failure, increases risk of lactic acidosis with metformin.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever experienced, or a loved one experienced cirrhosis and lactic acidosis?
Avatar f tn http://www.medhelp.org/drugs/metformin/show/4596 You'll see this under interactions.
Avatar f tn hey guys im suppose to start metformin tomorrow and am a little, well alot concerned. While researching it I found that a possible deadly side effect is this lactic acidosis. Has anyone heard of this? How common is it?
Avatar m tn i noticed 1mg versionhas a little high percentage of cancers even if not statistically significant fatal cases of lactic acidosis, happened rarely and on severey damaged livers so lactate must be regularly checked during etv tx fatty liver tenofovir, kidneys damage, reduced bone mineral density the other nucs are not on guidelines as first therapy due to resistance development i am on etv+alinia but i'd like to stay on etv as little as possible obviously, no sides so far but nobody knows
Avatar f tn Hi Neeli, I'm really considering going on the viread. I've just been so scared of the side effects like lactic acidosis. I'm trying to push for an ultrasound and fibroscan but my Nurse Practitioner says that it may be hard to see the liver bc of how far along the pregnancy is. I will push one more time. I believe you said your doctor plan to have you on for 2 more years, correct? Which would mean that you have been on viread for about 8 years?
Avatar n tn So wait, she said you had lactic acidosis and then tried to give you metformin? Is she trying to kill you? Metformin can cause lactic acidosis!
Avatar m tn m a 210lb male, and I was terrified of the interaction of Met with alcohol. I was warned about the possiblity of lactic acidosis, even though I was told it was extremely rare, and would only come about by heavy drinking over time, or binging something like 12 beers in a night. Nevertheless, the most drinks I had was a 6 pack of guiness over a 12 hour period at a bachelor party. I'm going to Vegas this Saturday, for a college roomate reunion of sorts.
Avatar m tn Do have suggestion what kind of test (blood and urine) that I should to test to monitor viread side effect such as Lactic acidosis, toxicity, severe hepatomegaly with steatosis, etc?
