While TDF use was associated with a decrease in eGFR and increase in parathyroid hormone, 1,25-OHD was higher in the TDF than in the no-TDF group. i was checking if there is anyway to prevent kidneys damage in cases like mine where kidenys cannot stand tenofovir, i don t have plans to add tenofovir for the moment but in any case i'd like to make sure i will be able to use it if ever needed.

Without taking any drugs, viral load was 22,000 in september 2009. 46,000 in december 2009. Doctor recommended lamivudine in January. Took lamivudine and by June 2010, viral load was undetected. have read in many forums that lam is not the best, approached my doctor with this concern and she sugessted tenofovir. Should i start tenofovir immediately, how should i start. Should i just abruptly stop lam and move on to tenofovir, should i use both and gradually stop lam after a few day/weeks.
if you have renal problems i would monitor and switch to entecavir if they get worse or stay out of range.there is many people here taking tenofovir for years, check what is their experience on this

the only cure is sequential treatment of tenofovir or entecavir for 5-10years and then peginterferon add on.hbsag quantity in iu/ml (abbott architect or elecsys roches) determines when to add and clearance of infection.

Your only reasonable choice is tenofovir. Despite its chemical similarity, tenofovir is about 80 times less toxic to the kidneys than adefovir.
I remember a personal discussion about this with Gileads research director, Gibbs, at the time. He said "we had no idea, what a huge difference a single methyl group can make".
yesterday we noticed a patch of hair gone so took him to the vet had all the blood work done and this morning we received a call saying Tye was in renal failure and may only have a few months to live.we brought him into the vet to get SUB Q fluids and this is needed for the next few days he will get a special diet and have to take a water pill and antiacid as well as another medication i cant remember what it is called let alone what it is use for.

My cat, Miss Kitty has just died from renal failure. We did not notice any symptoms except weight loss and as she was about 14,, we attributed this to being older. She was still active and eating, until one Friday night when she collapsed. in case of decline of gfr below 60 or 30, since renal failure is when gfr is below 15, tenofovir can be reduced to 150mg daily or 75mg daily and still fully active.at lower doses the drug still works even in case of lamR, i posted a study a couple of days ago on this who last 5 years without any tdf resistance, both doses are much more potent than adv
since only 1% needs to change dose due to low gfr below 30 it is better to keep full dose even if 150mg and 75mg work.
