tenofovir is the oldest drug among hbv drug since we share the same drugs as hiv, it is the most potent and generics are on the market.
I am hap b carrier about 7 years taking tenofovir from last 2 years , i want to be father but my semen analyses showed low spam count / isnt it for hapatice b and tenofovir?
Here the advise from my doctor regarding this topic - continue with the current medication Viread (tenofovir), monitoring laboratory tests every 6 months including creatinine, if the creatinine were to persistently increased by 0.2 or greater we can change to Vemlidy, TAF. Did you have kidney problem before starting Tenofovir? No worries as this will not resolved any problem... And everybody is different. We'll all react to this medication differently.
Tests showed HbsAg - Positive, HBeAg- negative, anti HBe-Positive , Alpha-Fetoprotein- 10.64 in 2010, 11.80 in 2011, 8.83 in 2012 and now 8.22 in March, 2013. The viral load count was 53,000 to 1,10,000 IU/ML in 2010, 2,08,000 to 2,36,000 in 2011, 2,42,000 in 2012 and now in March,2013 it was 4,12,000 IU/ML. All my blood test , ultrasonography test of liver are normal. The ALT was 33 & 46 - 2009, 23 & 17 - 2010, 24 - 2011, 30 - 2012 and 34 - March, 2013.
TAF generic is available in India now. Its launched by Mylan as HepBest, it costs around Rs1500. Please contact Mylan representatives if any one need TAF in india.
Tenofovir will suppress your dna hopefully to undetectable... Not sure if you will lose the hbeag or not.... Someone who knows more about these meds will probs be able to help more.... My husb is on Tenofovir but he was already hbeag negative when starting but he has a mutation which made his dna rise..

after using all those antivirals the wrong way you may have developped so many mutations and resistance that antivirals might not work, let's hope the tenofovir made in india was fake, although i dont think so
you have very little left to try after all the missuse of drugs from your doctor, a resistance test is a must for you at this point to see which drugs work
tenofovir is the one you must keep, it has no known resistance and according to the resistance test result combo with another dr

That is actually not much better than tenofovir vs tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, the actual substance in Viread. It is 50 times more potent than tenofovir.
It is all this improper simplification of callling viread tenofovir.
Tenovovir, if it would be given orally, would have no effect on HBV.
TEnofovir if given intravenously or sc would still have almost no effect on HBV in the liver. the substance has a high negative charge and cannot easlily penetrate cell membranes.

1 Billion to 6 Million in just 6 months. Is this due to the high ALT? My doctor mentioned that this is a big drop. I am just wondering if my ALT stay up around 400s for another 6 months, is it possible that it will drop even more? How damage will my liver be if ALT stay up so high for so long? there is no tenofovir resistance reported in vivo (only one patient but in coinfection with hiv so not to be considered), only adefovir resistance can lower response to tenofovir.
so we don't know if sides can become an issue, at the moment at 3 years sides are only in less than 1% cases so if we have new antivirals in 5 years both entecavir and tenofovir are ok.
