Tenofovir gel patent

Common Questions and Answers about Tenofovir gel patent

truvada

Avatar m tn it is not more efficacious it has less toxicity than tdf on kidneys but also this is not an issue on hbv, until now it is more a way to patent a new version of tenofovir because viread will soon be out of patent, trials will confirm its utility but with all the new drugs coming out the next few years i dont see it as uselfull for hbv especially if viread will be much cheaper
Avatar f tn you can use tenofovir which is much much cheaper and more potent than baraclude if you can order from india both etv and tdf generics are very cheap
Avatar m tn tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) is a prodrug of tenofovir. The 'disoproxil' is a side chain attached to the active component 'tenofovir'. Inside our body, this side chain gets cleaved off by an enzyme to release the active tenofovir. AGX-1009 has a different side chain attached to the active component 'tenofovir'. It may show higher potency and/or lower toxicity compared to Viread because of this different side chain (At least that's what Agenix is hoping for).
Avatar f tn tenofovir is the best drug for hbv and the most effective in cancer prevention and it has no resistance.not entecavir which has very low resistance but it has resistance it is not zero, it works less on liver cancer prevention but it is less heavy on kidneys so only if you have kidneys problems it is a better choice.
Avatar m tn so it is not that if you buy in US you have a better chemical for sure viread itself is very cheap in india thanks to competition, entecavir lost patent, it had no rights to patent the compound, actually even tdf was an already know substance so india did not allow the patent by the way when i used nitazoxanide to try clear hbsag i had a test for purity on drugs said to be produced in US (they are not, they are produced in cheap countries and just relabeled), the worst was that produced in US
Avatar n tn That trial, run by Caprisa, an AIDS research center in Durban, showed for the first time that tenofovir gel protected women against H.I.V. It also showed that the roughly 450 women in the survey who did not have herpes were even better protected against it than they were against the AIDS virus. Over all, the gel reduced H.I.V. infections by 39 percent.
Avatar n tn no its better not to take it.
2022648 tn?1328711666 not allowed on pregnancy, only tenofovir (viread) is good on preganancy, no resistance, most potent on hbv and even much cheaper than entecavir, it is also about to lose patent so it may become as cheap as indian generics which are as low as 21usd per month peginterferon must be used after 3-5 years on tenofovir to work and clear hbv, hbsag is cleared in 50% peginterferon monotherapy can work only for very low hbsag and very low hbvdna otherwise it is useless to try just 7% hbsag clearance yo

Avatar f tn Entecavir (Baraclude) patent should have already expired in May 2010. It costs me HK$3,000 (US$400) a month in last 2 years. I expect the price to drop sharply after the patent expiry. But, it did not. Anyone has any idea ?
Avatar m tn Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), a new formulation that reaches higher levels in cells but allows for lower dosing, was as effective as the current tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) formulation but had less impact on markers of kidney function and bone turnover, researchers reported at the 53rd Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC 2013) this week in Denver.
Avatar m tn I live in the US. If you are looking for Tenofovir, I'd suggest checking out a doctor at the HepB.org site and talking to them about a clinical trial (whether it's for Viread or another Hep B clinical trial). Some may offer right off the bat. I'm unsure about the price without insurance. I suspect, without insurance, $80 a pill?
Avatar m tn but all failed hiv drug were used now dont let you fool by drug makers which need a new patent for tenofovir because it will become extremely cheap in a few years.....
Avatar m tn one of the protocols i am about to join with interferon+ potent nucs like tenofovir, entecavir, telbivudine.....so good to know some patients who strated this in 2010 cleared hbv already in just 48weeks http://forum.corriere.it/fegato/03-12-2011/sono-guarito-e-ora-1941898.
Avatar n tn it is a failed hiv drug, this is the clear strategy drug makers had at 2000, use of failed hiv drug on hbv to make mutants (instead using tenofovir which makes no mutants) and then find always new drugs with patent and high price for the mutants......
Avatar m tn The patent was for an eye drop that included MSM in its formulation. I don't know enough about patent laws, but it was definitely a patent application I was looking at. However, since then I have looked for this particular eye drop and it does not appear to have ever made it to market. Maybe he had some detail to hang his patent on and I missed it.
Avatar m tn is 15,85 index this translates to nothing, it is a obsolete useless test for hbsag viread is for hbeag neg, poland try to save money over sick people clearly and lamivudine must not be used go for the combo intf+tdf, i am also going for that trial, tdf can be stopped after sometime.

Avatar f tn You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.
9624973 tn?1413016130 I have a question about a friend of mine, she had some heart problems and after some surgery she had, doctors find out she was infected with Hep B, probably from blood transfusion, that was in 2009 !!. She rapidly developed tumors on her liver and 3 quarter of her liver was removed.
Avatar m tn m sorry to hear that happen in poland. Even in Albania where I lived now at least we can use tenofovir or Pegasus thanks to a good doctor here.
