Tenofovir ftc

Common Questions and Answers about Tenofovir ftc

truvada

Avatar f tn tdf has zero sides effects on breastfeeding, it is the most used antiviral on pregnancy as regards truvada i dont know but i guess it is the same because truvada is tenofovir+ftc and ftc is not a drug with significant sides effect at all
Avatar m tn truvada is just tenofovir+ftc, it is sueless on hbv unless non response to tenofovir, which is extremely rare it adds toxicity and higher price because truvada patent is not expiring in 2014, no difference on hbsag. instead of truvada it is best only for those non responding to combo tenofovir+lamivudine.

Avatar f tn also find amore expert doctor since you have had the worst managment of hbv possible making only damage to have chances of eradicating hbv peginterferon+tenofovir+nitazoxanide (peg at least 2 years) would be the best choice in your case but peginterferon is expensive and can have sides
Avatar m tn attention entecavir works only in naive patients and even in naive patients it has 1,2% resistance, truvada is tenofovir+ftc (ftc similar drug to lam) in combo to prevent resistance and of coruse it has zero resistance until now entecavir is also less potent than tenofovir, tenofovir is the only drug with zero resistance until now, all other drugs have resistance mutations entecavir mght be used in case of adefovir resistance or even better a combo of tenofovir and entecavir
Avatar m tn and even so the drug is not good for hbv, in case she has also hiv the best drug is truvada which is tenofovir+ftc which is active on hiv and hbv
1407780 tn?1281689119 in your specific case you also have resistance already the only drug that can be used in your case is tenofovir, nitazoxanide combo or interferon all the others worsen your condition, so you must get tenofovir many people in china have ordered it online by normal post and received it your resistance is both lam and adv even if test detects only lamR you have also advR registered in cccdna because you are using it too long
Avatar m tn the explanation of why tenofovir is so potent on hbv and makes no resistance was explained by the intracellular levels reached by this drug, it is so bad no study ever showed how all other nucs are extremely poor at this and when i found this comparison i was very very surprised all ohter drugs are so weak as intracellular levels, just look at lam vs tdf.we dont have etv here but it is probably very poor too.
Avatar m tn Ann8 just like with hepsera, if a primary resistance mutation to Tenofovir would occur, the simultaneous LAM will suppress the propagation of this mutated species, preventing it to get to higher numbers. This always is based of course on the assumption that no a priory LAM mutation is in existence. Thus now after many years it is now routinely recommended to start hepsera together with LAM.
1246925 tn?1271551922 you must absolutely keep hbvdna und, if you are not und entecavir is the best choice or a combo of entecavir+tenofovir or tenofovir+ftc (i guess you are already on this regimen).
Avatar m tn if there is a way to predict development of mitochondrial myopathy or prevent it a combo of clevudine with another drug might be considered but at research level or monitoring very closely for sides in vitro combo of clevudine and ftc made the strongest decline of ccdna, i guess truvada+clevudine might prevent resistance 100%, let's hope some researcher will check for this and make possible reduction or control of this very dangerous sides effect of mitochondrial myopathy (i think also te
Avatar f tn there is also an old clinical report about this combo therapy, i dont know if you have seen it googleing around another guy got hbv and hdv eradicated by 11months with the combo of interferon+truvada(tenofovir+FTC), he was hbeag pos and i dont remember if interferon was started first, anyway this combo lead to hbsag seroconversion very fast other reports are from interferon+telbivudine with hbsag 1 log decrease by 24weeks only, the trial was stopped because of myophaty sides but telbivudine h
Avatar m tn if you can stand interferon sides effects and cost the good about inf is you can stop tx whenever you like and there is no resistance with this tx, good chance to get rid of the virus after 3-6years, the bad is you can have heavy sides (usually young people have few or no sides) if you get hbvdna higher or alt/ast higher than 30ui/ml often i would start tenofovir (no resistance at 3 years and probably no resuistance at all on naive), the bad about antivirals is that you have to take them for l
Avatar m tn tenvir is generic version of tenofovir tenvir tm is generic version of tenofovir+emtricitabine (truvada) which even more potent than tenofovir alone entecavir is less potent of both tdf or truvada, i am also on entecavir which is about 1000usd per month changing currency from euro, i have it free in my country but it is absurd to allow such costs for a stupid tablet http://www.aids-drugs-online.com/productindex.
Avatar f tn i really dont understand why use of truvada which is simply tenofovir plus ftc in one pill, tenofovir is the most potent drug against hbv replication and has no resistance so truvada has meaning as a business way to make money from patients with only side effects added to patients, truvada is more toxic on kidneys than tenofovir monotherapy the only thing that may justify your doctor is the need to suppress hbv very fast in weeks instead of a couple of months but 151000iu/ml maybe suppressed in
Avatar m tn the second component is unchanged, 200mg of emtricitabine, also called FTC, a fluor substituted form of Lamivudine, that provides protection from the development of mutants that will lower the responsiveness to tenofovir. it's side effects are generally considered very mild, equivalent to lamivudine. This is theoretically good news for hbv patients waiting eagerly for TAF to be available for HBV. The problem is the high price: 1500$ for one month supply of 30 pills.
Avatar m tn He was an ingenious organic chemist, developed first adefovir, then, together with de Clerq in Belgium Tenofovir a compound which has only one Methyl group additional attached to Adefovir, which was surprisingly reducing its toxicity by at least 50fold. Due to the extremely low susceptibility to resistance and very low toxicity this drug became the cornerstone of antiviral treatment for HIV and HBV.
Avatar n tn Baraclude/Viread/Sebivo, With FTC/L-FMAU soon) Downside: Potential damage Issue 2: Drug Regime Doctor recommends Baraclude or Viread. I would concur. Through both may be recommended based on high viral levels. Upside: Lower risk of resistance Downside: Lack of FDA trials on the Baraclude/Viread combination may mean unexpected interaction/side-effects. Current Thought: Go Combo Baraclude/Viread when treatment is needed.
Avatar m tn try nitazoxanide first and if you see no results add tenofovir (do not use the other tablet which is truvada it is tenofovir+ftc but you don t need it, it can have more sides than tenofovir alone and only if you have resistant mutants or tenofovir alone doesn t work can be used) it makes sense to try ntz first or monitor for another 6-12 months because we have seen from a post there is a new formula for tenofovir with 4.
Avatar n tn 1) entecavir useless and much less potent than the other options below 2) lam+adv, much more potent than etv, no other resistance mutations development 3) tenofovir, best choice and if doesn t get hbvdna und tenofovir+ftc, no other resistance mutations development since trial found that lam+adv is more potent than etv or adv monotherapy i think that it is better to keep etv+tnf if you check in the community there is also a generic for etv made in india and i'd definitely choose tnf+etv+nt
Avatar m tn what do you think of telbivudine plus tenofovir pretreatment for 1-3 year and then peginterferon add on?i ve seen few immune studies on immunological effect of telbivudine and it worths pretreatment in combo tdf to prevent resistance. i think it worths at least 12-24 weeks combo with peg with close monitoring for PN, but of course i understand no doctor likes to risk some team in italy tried something similar but with very short time like 24weeks telbivudine mono and then peg intf add mono.
Avatar m tn Being a nervous mess since my possible exposure and feeling what I've read to be symptoms, I took the Home Access test at 7,11,14, and 19 weeks. These tests all came back negative. The consoleur and posting questions here, assured me that my tests were pretty much conclusive and my symptoms mean nothing. Anyways, I called the CDC to get some info on home access testing and they told me that the FTC has issued a warning about "home testing".
