I am on tenofovir from March 2012 when i am pregnant at week 32. At that time i had hbs and hbe both positive.
I have the same question but with tenofovir, my son just born and my wife is being treated with tenofovir, I worry that drug will may cause any negative effect to the baby :(

Yes u can have, but check your DNA levels first. If high, start tenofovir. It is safe to take throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding. I did that and baby is fine. He is now a healthy chubby 13mth old. Tenofovir is also the only safe antiviral for pregnancy (category B drug).

Forgive me if I'm posting this incorrectly. This is my first time. Unfortunately, I found out after I got pregnant that I am HBV positive. I am told that I have chronic HBV and probably got it from my mother. All of this is very new and scary to me, especially because I'm pregnant. I recently went to a liver specialist and she told me that my viral load is very high and my ALT is also high.
You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.

Not sure though when it is man who is the carrier if it is any difference, I believe your baby should be fine after vaccination at birth ( in the first 24 hours) as stated by stef.
The drug that you take is a bit old so you may want to change it to entecavir or tenofovir that are newer and safer drugs, but you cannot just stop one and start taking another, switching is a special procedure and you need to discuss it with your doctor. Also you should monitor your hbeag status and hbsag quantity in iu/ml to understent if your tretment is working.
That is actually not much better than tenofovir vs tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, the actual substance in Viread. It is 50 times more potent than tenofovir.
It is all this improper simplification of callling viread tenofovir.
Tenovovir, if it would be given orally, would have no effect on HBV.
TEnofovir if given intravenously or sc would still have almost no effect on HBV in the liver. the substance has a high negative charge and cannot easlily penetrate cell membranes.

viread is taken to have babies and dont infect them with hbv, you dont have to stop it on the contrary women not taking viread have to start it if they get pregnant with high hbvdna
you can take viread during all pregnancy and also for breastfeeding, it makes no harm to the baby, many members here took it with no troubles
as to liver damage, most patients have no liver damage from hbv only those with a stronger immune system/hbv specific mutations have damage from hbv

Is there a way I can have a prescription from a doctor when buying tenofovir online? Here in the Philippines, the drug is not yet available and the doctors are not prescribing it since it is not available. I'm planning to take tenofovir but having trouble in getting prescription, so i cannot order online.

hbv has no symptoms, you may even be dying and feel nothing
tenofovir improves kideys function especially tenofovir+telbivudine in those with kidneys function.
