have read in many forums that lam is not the best, approached my doctor with this concern and she sugessted tenofovir. Should i start tenofovir immediately, how should i start. Should i just abruptly stop lam and move on to tenofovir, should i use both and gradually stop lam after a few day/weeks. No other options here. Nigeria (Africa), so i cannot combo with other drugs. NEED YOUR ADVICE HOUSE.
stop lamivudine immediately or switch to tenofovir, it is decades now lamivudine is not used because it can lead to cytopatic hbv mutations that cannot be control with any medication leading to cancer and cirrhosis despite hbsag negative, hbvdna undetectable and normal ast-alt, another reason not to use lamivudine is that it is even totally useless on hbv

Lamivudine is outdated and ur virus will multiply anyway someday due to resistance to it so best is change to tenofovir and also change ur doctor who even don't know in today's time lamivudine is not used.

do add tenofovir as soon as possible, you have just worsen your condition with lam, it is not indicated for hbv anymore, only tenofovir (viread) entecavir (baraclude) interferon are
to know if you are clearing you need hbsag quantitative in iu/ml and to know if you are saf
The last time I saw my doctor he told me that he never heard of someone getting renal problems with Adefovir and that he needed some time to tell me what the next treatment would be (and that I should stay now with lamivudine and Adefovir for 2 more weeks and see what happens to my phosphorous and creatinine levels _Adefovir just one pill every 48hours and lamivudine one pill every day .According to you only TENOFOVIR is good for me . My doctor suggests that I participate in the drug trial of Tenefovir (Viread) versus Tenofovir in combination with Emtricitibine (Truvada). I have chronic Hepatitis B and Lamivudine resistance last year. He gave me a document to read and I did a bit of research on internet on the side effect. My concern is the side effect especially on Kidney. Could you give me some advice if I should participate in the drug trial or stay with my current medicine Hepsera.

since you have used lamivudine the virus can be mutated now and the only drugs you can use are interferon or tenofovir, no other durgs
You may also like to repeat your HBeAg and HBeAB tests. Recently, the WHO recommends Tenofovir/Entecavir for HBV treatment. So best not to use Lamivudine as it has very high drug resistance rate. Usually Lamivudine has very few side effects, so it is unlikely to cause all the problems you are experiencing.
So pls comparatively, lamivudine and tenofovir,which one is more effective in dealing with this virus.And which one has serious side effect.sorry for interrupting ur initial conversation.

I am not a doctor but i can tell you lamivudine is the worst drug for hbv and just make damage.
first of all lamivudine is a wrong choice because it is not used anymore on hbv and even for fulminant hbv tenofovir or entecavir are the best choice because they suppress hbv immediately while lam is too weak and takes too long to make hbvdna und, also rates of patients without death is much higher for tenofovir or entecavir than lam

Hi,can anyone tell me what are the medical options remaining after being resistant to both lamivudine 100 and entecavir 0.5?Will tenofovir 300 alone or ETV+TDF or any other Combo work?Please share your views?
checking tenofovir trials on hbv only (no hiv coinfection) kidney problems are in less than 1% patients and i haven't found tx discontinuation because of kidney problems.
hbv has no mutations at all under tenofovir tx and i think we can find data from some patients using tenofovir for more than 3 years even if not on trial about this.
entecavir mono has only 1.2% resistance but has several hbv mutations anyway altough only 1.2% has resistance to entecavir.

I am very heart breaking when I learned that my beloved mum got cirrhosis. She sufffered from hepatis B.She used nucs for more 5 years but the situation get worse day after day. She is 55 year old now. First two years, she use lamivudine then afer her doctor change to bacraclude ( entacavir) . in a year Hbv dna become undectable but recently check, it started rise
Her alt. ast away fluctuate from 40 -50.
Doctor then prescribed lamivudine which I used for 3 months and discontinued. In 2014 I did a pcr and result was 700iu/ml, 2015 pcr was 1380iu/ml and just did another 3 days ago with result 101000 iu/ml, which prompted me to see a doctor. He prescribed for me lamivudine 100mg for 6months. My question is, is this the appropriate drug considering I have used this drug 10 yrs ago and also considering other combination options available today.
